Heard a few stories that these 6 month loan deals with burke and weah etc is down to Rodgers potentially calling it a day at the end of the season. I'm not saying it's a giving but I wouldn't be surprised either.

IrishKiwi

1.) 05 Jan 2019 17:27:14
Why would you believe that! Utter dross. A manager doesn’t land 6 month loan deals so that the club is worse off in future. Nonsense Irish kiwi.

2.) 05 Jan 2019 18:41:29
My take is that both the loan deals are to cover temporary absences in the squad.

Weah for Griffiths and Burke for Arzani.

3.) 05 Jan 2019 19:04:04
Not a fan at all about loan signing more so with no option to get him signed up on a contract and for 6months to me doesn't make sense.

4.) 05 Jan 2019 20:01:06
Pictures circling that Weah is suggesting that he is on the move with a picture of his locker and hand wave images on instagram could this be clarity he’s on his way only time will tell oh and Bayo follows Celtic on Twitter now btw.

5.) 05 Jan 2019 20:19:02
Good player n can see the thinking in it but i have to say that since lennon left our signing policy has never felt stable to me.

I'd be interested to see the number of loanees we've had from Ronnie to now and what it was before in the same period.

I hope the lad does well for us n helps us clinch the league but then he'd be another gap to fill in the summer when we then go through this process all over again.

Our club seems to run in 6 month cycles.

6.) 05 Jan 2019 20:25:11
The club do what is best for them, they should know what they want, some people would have complained if Hendrie, Commper and Mosunda had been 6 moths loans .
I wouldn't be surprised if Celtic wanted to buy any of their 6 nth loan player, they would buy them.

Morning ed,
Regarding these so called cryptic messages from dembele, have you heard anything thru the grapevine? A lot of pro english newspapers have unsurpringly picked up on it and suggest he's on his way down south.
Could it be on he's way back to Glasgow for a new contract mate? 2 reasons I don't believe for a second he's teasing a move south is because the club's involved wouldn't stand for it and the player himself could jeopardize any move and secondly the manner of the message points towards good news for the hoops. Ie green text with shamrock etc.
Also regarding Armstrong's contract situation, if he hasn't signed by say early August will the club put him up for sale do you think and try get money before the window shuts?
Thanks as always bud.

IrishKiwi

{Ed007's Note - The stuff on his social media was about him travelling to Boston after the international games with some speculating that he's there to sign a sponsorship deal with NB - but his agent doesn't seem to be there which is odd if he's there to do any deal.
I heard late on Saturday night that the Club were looking to offer Dembele a new improved deal to try and convince him to reject any move elsewhere.}

1.) 12 Jun 2017 18:31:54
I think with all the reporters etc pestering him with the same questions he has already answered, he's now on the wind up with them, was it not balotelli that used to drive around london on deadline day just to wind up reporters, maybe moussas taking the piss lol?

2.) 12 Jun 2017 23:10:47
Just read the daily express reporting Celtic have offered 1.3m plus Christie deal could go down the next 48 hours.

3.) 13 Jun 2017 02:03:45
Thanks for that ed. I think keeping him another year, signing Robert's full time and extend Armstrong's contract will be more important than bringing in any new faces.

29 Nov 2016 17:57:31
Ed, do you know of any interest in the boy larin from Orlando that's being reported in the daily rag? I mentioned during the last window I'd heard we were watching him.
I know he's very highly rated over there.

IrishKiwi

{Ed007's Note - I've not heard anything, sorry.}

1.) 30 Nov 2016 15:58:27
Ed is the American market something celtic are looking to tap in to for players?

{Ed007's Note - Not that I know of, Kev and unless it's the top *ahem* 'stars' there are work permits to consider.}

2.) 01 Dec 2016 13:21:08
Cheers ed.

{Ed007's Note - (yes)

26 Sep 2016 09:21:43
Dare I say it but if moussa dembele carries on with this form for for the next year or 2, do we have Scottish footballs first $20m+ player? World class player in the making, still a bit rough but he's banging them in with right, left and head, something that's extremely rare. Not sure why but he's starting to remind me of Thierry Henry.

IrishKiwi

1.) 26 Sep 2016 12:41:27
what does that make leigh worth?

2.) 26 Sep 2016 20:44:30
I hear he will be sold to sunderland for 2 million then we will launch an audacious bid to bring back rasmussen.

3.) 27 Sep 2016 07:47:49
I heard that too about Rasmussen.

4.) 27 Sep 2016 09:11:45
Dont see it myself. More like Anelka for me.

5.) 28 Sep 2016 14:28:51
Robbie Keane a cert.

29 May 2016 01:49:47
Heard a rumour from a guy from my local supporters club that we have had scouts watching Orlando city striker Cyle Larin. I think he's Canadian and 21 but don't know much else about him. Do you know anything about him ed or know of any interest?

IrishKiwi

{Ed007's Note - No.}

1.) 29 May 2016 13:53:23
6,2 and great goal return of 24in 38 games. Surley could'nt be any worse than Cifci.

2.) 29 May 2016 16:32:00
Just checked him out on youtube and he looks a good finisher and good header of the ball, would defo be worth watching .

With big changes expected in the summer here's a possible outcome for ins and outs and possible team for next season.
Just my opinion so interested to hear everyone elses.

OUT
Gordon
Hendry
Ntcham
Morgan
Rogic
Commper
Bitton
Approx £20m in on transfer fees

EXPIRED CONTRACT/ RELEASED
Lustig
Gamboa
Boyata
Hayes
Izzy
Mulumbu
Benyu
Allen

LOANS RETURNING
Benkovic
Toljan
Weah
Burke

LOANED OUT
Kouassi
Bayo

I've counted 21 players that could possible leave in the summer
Out of the 21 i've mentioned above the only players I would keep are boyata if he somehow signed a contract and benkovic and weah but only if we could get them permanently. I'm not a fan of these loan deals as although it's a quick fix at the time it leaves a bigger rebuild every season end which will be evident at the end of of this season.
Looking through the names above it just shows how much dead wood there is and the amount of money being wasted on wages is crazy. There must be about £150-200k pw being spent on the above players wages and in all honesty would any of them be a big miss?

Now onto the possible squad we could have come September

Bain
New gk to rival bain
Hazard

New RB
Ralston
Perez
New CB
New CB
Ajer
Simunovic
Guttman
Tierney
LB cover
Mcgregor
Christie
Brown (I think depending on new manager brown may eave/ retire depending on who manager is)
Henderson
New CM
Forrest
Sinclair (same as brown, depending on who manager is weather he will stay)
Shved
Dembele
Oko flex
Johnston
Miller
Arzani (I hope we can somehow make his loan permanent because the boy looks like he could be world class)
New AMF
Edouard
Griffiths (I still think he's our best striker if he can get himself sorted out but again could be off depending on who manager will be)
New striker

I've counted 8 new players we will probably need in
Gk
Rb
Cb x2
Lb
Cm
Amf
CF

That leaves approximately 20 out with about 8 in. I understand it's very unrealistic but it's probably what's needed. Our squad is clearly far too big and in desperate need of a major overhaul and below is a potential line up we could maybe have in a season or 2

Bain

New Rb New Cb Ajer tierney (c)

New Cm Mcgregor

Shved dembele arzani

Edouard

New gk
Ralston
New Cb
Henderson
Oko flex
Johnston
New Cf

Despite the massive overhaul needed, at the same time it can't be overlooked at how much young talent we still have on our books many of whom are about to breakthrough into the starting 11 over the next season or two. All the below are 21 or younger

Tierney
Ralston
Ajer
Henderson
Arzani
Dembele
Calvin miller (if given a fair chance at his real position)
Oko flex
McInroy
Atchison
Edouard (yes he's just recently turned 21. Considering his age some of the stick he gets from some fans is uncalled for)

Regardless of who the manager will be come the summer, they will be well aware the squad numbers need drastically cut but they will soon know that with the amount of young talent already at the club most of the talent needed to push us on is already on our doorstep.

Obviously there will be disagreements on this post but looking forward to hearing some views.

IrishKiwi

1.) 09 Mar 2019 10:49:29
Not Bad but you forgot Dvries out and Bitton Hendry and Hayes unlikely to leave. Commper will only go if someone offers him more money again unlikely. Gutman should provide cover at LB and I expect Weah and Burke to return either permenently or on loan depending on CL qualifacation. It could also be a makeor break season for Kouassi and Morgan.

2.) 09 Mar 2019 11:23:59
Can't see Kouassi or Morgan making it with us. Rather than buying 2 or 3 risky signings I would use transfer fees in and saved wages to get Burke. Right age, loves club, bags of potential, will scare the st! t of the mobs defence. No brainer for me. And he can make it happen by doing a "Van Dyke" . He made it clear to Southampton it was Liverpool or nothing.

3.) 10 Mar 2019 15:42:11
Would like money spent on 2 x CB and a RB. With the outgoings we can always loan a decent winger, CM and LB as cover. Although on his day Ntcham is a baller but his sale could cover most of our outlay. New manager in would probably want to keep hold of him and may get the best out of him. He's not the best domestically as he's too slow on the ball but suits European games.

22 Jan 2019 18:51:12
The more I think about it, these loans are a short term solution until the dead wood is gone. Far too many first team players at the club and I'd say there would be at least 8 or 10 players that needs shown the door asap.

IrishKiwi

17 Jan 2019 17:36:50
Hi Ed can you clarify if there is a limit on how many loans in a club can have at any one time or throughout a season?

Cheers.

IrishKiwi

{Ed007's Note - There's no limit with players from other F.As but that's all changing in season 20/21 to stop clubs like Chelsea and Man City stockpiling players and sending them out on loan. A recent FIFA report showed that one unnamed club had loaned out 146 players between 2011 and 2017.}

1.) 17 Jan 2019 19:51:58
Ridiculous stats that ed. In 5 years celtic could be an unnamed club that's loaned IN 146 players if we keep up at this rate 🤣
Thanks for that ed 👍.

{Ed007's Note - I'm sure I read Chelsea have 30-40 out on loan either last season or this season.}

2.) 17 Jan 2019 20:45:56
They have 41 on loan. 5 are goalkeepers.

3.) 17 Jan 2019 21:52:42
Juventus are bad for it as well. Think a few seasons ago including co-owned players they had something like 64 players out at different clubs. This co-ownership is something that needs dealt with, gives teams an unfair advantage.

{Ed007's Note - It's not allowed in Italy anymore - since season 14/15 ended - and will eventually be banned altogether going with what Ed002 has said about it over the years. It's more a South American thing.}

4.) 17 Jan 2019 23:00:23
I never knew that it was already banned. The italians are always upto something lol.

05 Jan 2019 12:47:20
I really can't get my head around signing a championship player on loan for 6 months. It smells of pure desperation. The lad has potential but I can't see how it will benefit us in anyway. These 6 month loan signings is embarrassing and it makes you wonder where our club is actually heading in terms of ambition. I can't even begin to comprehend the potential scenario of another disastrous window as I think this one could cost us the league.

IrishKiwi

1.) 05 Jan 2019 13:52:05
Kiwi, i’m not sure that I understand it either but to try and describe it as desperation, you’re actually embarrassing yourself. I think you’re desperate to find some fault with Celtic in a similar way to the Scottish media. Makes me wonder what your agenda is.

2.) 05 Jan 2019 14:03:18
Yep getting in 15m players is embarrassing lol. We certainly can't afford them so why complain, Roberts benko were that level Moussa too prob and they done not bad. Get big vic ( unlikely I know) and could be a great window.

3.) 05 Jan 2019 14:21:16
RaYman . burke isn't at that level though.12 games for wba since he signed and kept out of the team by the footballing genius that is Matt philips .

4.) 05 Jan 2019 14:38:22
DRB we hadn't seen Moussa benko or Roberts play till they arrived, I hadn't heard of either, and none played in Bundesliga.
Lets wait and see and don't know how u can say he is not their level when we got them if we never seen them play.

5.) 05 Jan 2019 14:55:23
DRB, Scott Sinclair played 13 games in three seasons for Man City And has been our top scorer last two seasons.

6.) 05 Jan 2019 17:10:31
I don't really want to judge him and as I said in another post I've watched him with scotland and the games I saw he was the standout player . but unlike the others mentioned he hasn't done anything to justify his 13 million tag . never mind a 6 month loan to us . the bhoy is here now so it's up to him now to resurrect his career which after 6 months does nothing for us.

01 Sep 2018 04:14:50
Thanks for the great work as usually over the transfer window.
I don't envy your work but I like everyone else appreciate it.
The whole window has been a shambles but at least we can all concentrate on football for a bit. 👍.

IrishKiwi

{Ed007's Note - Thanks buddy. I've never been so glad for the window to close, I don't think it's as bad as some people are making out but it was certainly a massive letdown and the same mistakes must not, no they can not be allowed to be repeated in January and next summer, although during January it is really difficult to get the players you want rather than players that their clubs don't want.}

1.) 01 Sep 2018 12:56:16
Well done ed and welcome back. am just surprised there was no plan in the event dembelle left to bring in a striker last season the 3 of them were injured and we had to put Sinclair in.

{Ed007's Note - Our plan for the long term was -and hopefully it still is - Nick Powell but it would have been very difficult to get Wigan to sell during this window or the back-up was a years loan for Shane Long. The way Dembele played it there was no time or point in trying to sign Powell and my hunch is that Rodgers just didn't fancy Shane Long.}

2.) 01 Sep 2018 13:05:07
Thanks for your great work over the transfer window.

{Ed007's Note - You're welcome mate 👍

3.) 01 Sep 2018 14:01:04
If THIS board won't give BR what he wants, they won't help ANY manager.

4.) 01 Sep 2018 14:11:01
Pity Lawell didn’t put in as much effort.

5.) 01 Sep 2018 14:31:35
Is Powell any good?

He was a prospect at Man Utd a few years back but haven't heard much about him since.

{Ed007's Note - He made the wrong choice going to Man Utd (Neil Lennon tried to bring him here at the same time) and if Rodgers could get Powell's head right he would be a sensational player for us, he's a genuine talent and according to Ed001 is one of the best, if not THE best technically gifted players to ever come through Crewe's academy - and that's some achievement when you consider Crewe have had one of the top academies in England for years under Dario Gradi.}

6.) 01 Sep 2018 14:47:24
Do you not think we could be priced out of a move for him if he has a good season Ed? Is he predominantly a striker, centre mid or attacking midfield?

{Ed007's Note - Powell is out of contract next summer and he can play both as a No.10 and as a striker.}

7.) 01 Sep 2018 15:28:22
Cheers Ed well that's good news may be in with a chance come Jan/ July.

{Ed007's Note - Fingers crossed 🤞

8.) 01 Sep 2018 15:55:07
Best wishes to you and your wife ED. I know it may sound crass but I hope yesterday went okay for you both.
If we are interested in Powell then I hope we are a lot more professional in the way we handle it than we have been in this window.

{Ed007's Note - Thanks, Gerry.}

9.) 01 Sep 2018 20:59:42
Can I add my hope that you and your wife are able to get through this difficult time .

The thing that most people forget is that no matter how financially rich we think we are . We are really the paupers shopping for targets we aim for . We have no chance if the financial heavyweights of the. championship eye our targets . It is damn hard and only for the French boy, I would have been very happy .
Our problem for the last 10 yrs and longer is once we get a good player the vultures come and sign him.

For all the pelters the guy has been taking he is still chipping away with goals and to be fair, his form has dipped this season but it's not through lack of trying. It's a confidence thing.

It happily take Lennon permanently but it depends on how ambitious lawwell and Desmond are this time round. If they have any ambition and want to pursue someone like rose or bielsa then great. But if they go down the lesser road which is more likely imo then we could do a lot worse than lenny.

I think this whole debacle goes deeper than has been said, so far anyway. I wouldn't be surprised with what you are saying is true or at least maybe not Lennon signings but from scouts without Rogers having a say.
It's been mentioned already but maybe lawwell knew Roger Rat was going to ditch us at anytime, hence not giving him any money. If this was the case then fair play to lawwell.
