So supposedly we have paid 1.6m for Hatem Elhamed 1 cap for Israel and is a cb that can play rb and cm

Underwhelmed definitely he’s not going to be better than ajar simo or jullian probably not even biton or Henry, I can imagine he will play right back I really don’t understand this signing

Even Eli Dasa has 19 caps for Israel and is a right back and has no club 26 year old imo a better player than Elhamed and of more use to us and free, to clear this up though I’d have none of them at celtic park not good enough imo
I’d take Danny Simpson for a year as back up until wee see how manny Perez turns out but we need a quality first choice rb please say it won’t be Elhamed?

Chrisbhoy7

1.) 18 Jul 2019 05:33:22
And tour an expert on Israeli football as we obviously need two right back and back up for CB it could be decent cover! Folk wrote off Henrik, Lubo before they kicked a ball!

2.) 18 Jul 2019 05:56:58
Have you seen the boy play?
How do you know that the boy isn't bring brought in as back up as obviously Lennon doesn't rate Ralston as he could even get a game before Ajer at RB.
Lennon did say he wanted to bring in 2 RB's so let's just wait and see before deciding the boy isn't good enough.

3.) 18 Jul 2019 06:40:57
Hese obv just cover and adding abit of depth as he can play a few postions.

4.) 18 Jul 2019 08:42:45
Let's reserve judgment till we've seen the boy.

5.) 18 Jul 2019 08:55:18
Chris I totally agree it's massively underwhelming, and I said the same last week israels first choice right back would be a far better option than this lad who at 28 with 1 cap for his country just speaks volumes about his ability, I mean Bitton has 21 caps, he's not exactly brilliant is he.

6.) 18 Jul 2019 09:19:18
Maybe he's more to cover the cbs than rb we only have 3 cbs and big jozo is prone to missing large chunks of the season.

7.) 18 Jul 2019 09:19:33
Is it just me that thought we were playing with 3 CBs and wing backs? People talking about Ajer playing right back. He looked to me to be playing on the right of a back three with Bitton and Simo. Bolingoli and Forrest in the wider advanced areas. Whilst this does seem like an underwhelming signing I can't say I've seen him play. If he's played CB and RB he should be comfortable on the right of a back 3. Then perhaps we'll continue with Forrest in that role or even bring in another RWB?

8.) 18 Jul 2019 10:32:19
Impossible for him to be worse than Hendry.

9.) 18 Jul 2019 11:26:26
It was a back 4 but Boli giving license to bomb up and down left with Ajer tucking in to make back 3 when in attack. Rodgers played something similar a few times.

10.) 18 Jul 2019 12:19:06
From what I've seen Boli was a winger with occasional defensive duties rather than a defender with occasional winging duties. Very weird, whatever it is.

11.) 18 Jul 2019 12:44:04
You would take a 32 year old domestic abuser who nearly went to jail for domestic assault over an honest pro whether good or bad. Interesting.

{Ed007's Note - Maybe Simpson's read the Neil Lennon book on how to treat women and influence people.}

12.) 18 Jul 2019 14:18:37
At 28 years old and only one sub appearance for his country it doesn't look like an inspired signing on paper I totally agree with you guys on that but we can't judge a signing before he's even kicked a ball for us just yet.

I think this looks more like a versatile back up signing as he supposedly can play centre half and right back which I wouldn't mind, just as long as he's solid enough.

As for formations etc, it did look like a back 3 at times last night with boli given the nod to bomb forward and for ajer to tuck in which we used to see similar with lustig and Tierney at times.

Lenny could be experimenting with different players in different positions, he mentioned Forrest could be playing a more central role at times which may point to him playing in the no.10 instead of christie if we do play with a right wing back, I know we could play them both but Forrest imo is far more effective going forward instead of playing as a wing back.

Christie looked the part last night but if we did go with a 3-4-1-2 this season I'd love to see 2 solid wing backs with forrest edouard and Griffiths up top, time will only tell.

13.) 18 Jul 2019 14:30:47
Just read this wrote about the big defender.

Elhamed is known as one of the best Israeli defenders today”
“First off, Elhamed could play in multiple positions. He has experience as a right back and as a defensive midfielder, while over the past 3 years he played at a very high level as a centre back.
“Elhamed is tall (1.86 Meters) which helps him with his heading ability, perhaps one of the best in Israel, as he won 61 out of 84 aerial battles this past season. Elhamed was one of the fastest defenders in the Israeli league, is a decent passer, and an excellent tackler, as he won 75 tackles out of the 108 he attempted. ”.

{Ed007's Note - Who wrote that, Dudu Dahan?}

14.) 18 Jul 2019 14:32:41
Greenclover why would we play Forrest in the 10 role instead of Christie when Christie is better in there.

Anytime Forrest gets pushed in that role it totally nullifies his game.

15.) 18 Jul 2019 14:33:48
Bond I've missed you.

{Ed007's Note - Thanks but I've always been around somewhere.}

16.) 18 Jul 2019 15:07:27
Naw ed a some reporter called Moshe Halickman.
Take it your not to keen on the signing?

{Ed007's Note - I'll wait and see what he's like as a player but my worry is that it could be him or Simpson that are our first choice RB.}

17.) 18 Jul 2019 15:47:38
Kev, I'm not saying I would completely drop christie, I would have him on the team sheet every week but I'm just mentioning what Lennon said about Forrest adapting to other positions and that we might see him more central.

Lennons second game back against hibs in the cup, Forrest played no.10, played a blinder and scores a screamer, other games christie has done the same, last night for example.

I personally think the way we've set up albeit successful is starting to become too predictable at times so a change depending on the opposition might be good especially if we end up getting into the group stages and play against better quality.

Forrest for me has been our best player the past 2 seasons and is undroppable to the team, it's just about finding a way and system to play all our best players (including christie) that also provides a balance to the team that also isn't too predictable, that's why I believe Lennon is going to be experimenting these next few weeks with different players in different positions.

18.) 18 Jul 2019 15:35:44
I really don't think he's been brought in as a left back.
As for Simpson I can only go on what I've seen and he seemed a good player but that was a few seasons back.

{Ed007's Note - Which one's replacing Hendry and which one's replacing Compper in the squad? 😉

19.) 18 Jul 2019 18:37:22
What about a striker that's twice been done by police and sfa for racism in more than one occasion Lawman?

20.) 18 Jul 2019 19:16:05
What's your point Kev?

21.) 19 Jul 2019 01:20:19
Id make them both carry hendry back to dundee.

22.) 19 Jul 2019 04:34:14
I can’t see this boy coming in as the first choice right back or even first choice centre back. Lennon is looking for cover, the squad is as thin as it’s been in years. Jozo spends large parts of the season injured so unless thy changes we have Hendry and bitton to cover that which isn’t ideal. This boy should be decent cover for that. Personally I didn’t actually know about the Simpson domestic abuse thing until yesterday and I still haven’t looked up on it, but he would be a quality signing with slot of experience but I can’t see that being the only right back coming in even if he does get a contract. The right back position is one that Lennon will want filled with quality and I believe that he will get it sorted. Let’s keep the faith and don’t bring down new signings. It’s rodgers fault the squad is needing so much change and if Lennon doesn't get it right it’ll cost us the league title.

23.) 19 Jul 2019 11:17:28
My point is should Griffiths be kicked out the club as well?

I’ve got a feeling he won’t be going in this window lol fingers crossed he stays we bang on about us taking ages to complete a deal by god is this tierney saga dragging pay the money or bolt doing my head in now.

Well after that I know it’s only pre season first game but Johnstone will be looking to
Cement a place he looks really good, aitchison I think should be our 4th Choice striker he’s good enough imo, and gutman looks no bad at left back although need to see more of him, Henderson was running the show second half.

Chrisbhoy7

1.) 26 Jun 2019 21:21:52
Johnstone won't cement anything until he beefs up.

2.) 26 Jun 2019 21:31:20
I'm looking forward to seeing young Henderson this year. I think he will go on to be a top player.

He's went under the radar a wee bit but that might turn out to be a good thing for him allowing him to play his natural game with no pressure.

3.) 26 Jun 2019 22:21:14
Buster out of them all Henderson is the one for me.
He should be playing along side his brother for me as I think it was a major mistake letting Liam go.

4.) 27 Jun 2019 09:00:06
Mikey Johnston was too easily intimidated and nudged off the ball twice at Ibrox and although the skill is there for all to see, he needs to build/ bulk-up to impose himself against tough opponents.

5.) 27 Jun 2019 10:19:42
Mickey johnston should go on he Ryan Christie weight gain plan. Worked wonders for RC.

6.) 27 Jun 2019 10:54:35
Henderson needs to beef up too as well as Johnson. Both have the ability but both are too slight. They need to follow Christie’s example. He too had bags of ability butvhe worked on his core strength and came into his own. If both of these young guys don’t address this they will never make that potential materialise. Get into the gym and put the work in. Lenny mentioned the same thing. So they obviously have been told this is a requirement if either have any hope of making a place in the first team even possible.

25 Jun 2019 22:21:26
The deal will go through if it was serious they wouldn’t still be discussing things plus he played last season with zero issues it will be something minor that might need looked at and may have him out for a wee spell, the deal will be done I’m confident.

Chrisbhoy7

1.) 25 Jun 2019 23:24:09
No chance chrisbhoy7 think it gone away for definitely now.

2.) 26 Jun 2019 13:39:32
Na rich it’s only a minor knee problem that requires 10 weeks out after op they shouldn’t be pulling out over that if they do they need to look at themselves.

24 Jun 2019 14:02:20
Any deal for tierney must include 20% sell on fee I can imagine tierney being sold for £50-£70m in a few years after being at arsenal so 20% would give us £10m-14m on top of £25m up front plus a player Jenkinson or there Greek cb, no one wants him too leave but the reality is it’s hard for us to say no and it’s hard for tierney not to go also with the amount of money he could make, if tierney goes then I wouldn’t be seeking anyone else this window unless it was rogic for a fee over 10m Ntcham I’d want to keep this window at least and mcgregor no chance he should be made celtic captain imo, we have money already and with Rogers money too and money for tierney we could literally buy 4 players in the 7-9m bracket no bother I still think we will come out of the window stronger.

Do we need a director of football?
Do you guys think we will wait to see if we get into champions league before buying? Most seasons Na that has been the case we seem to do our business late in the window but as one on here said recently the targets must of been scouted months an months ago and should of been brought in ASAP to gel and get up to speed that’s what Lennon said at the end of the season he knows what he wants? But again slow movement I’m not slagging the board or recruitment but surly it doesn’t take long too contact a club discuss a price and get the player to cp to discus terms and sign surly shouldn’t take more that a few days from start to finish I know the players will come but I just wish for once it was done faster we started off last year slow and ended up taking in a few loan players that didn’t really get a game either pointless they need to change their strategy trim the squad and offer more in wages if need be to quality players, if that’s what’s stopping us getting in quality then the wage structure needs looked at I’m sure we can afford higher wages if we have a smaller squad and we turn a good profit every year too so do it if we want to step up a gear.

Chrisbhoy7

1.) 19 Jun 2019 14:07:14
There is the same discussion every year on this, its not about the club every time its about the players.
Say your a quality player and we have approached u, finances are agreeable and u have a choice of us and others as most do, chances are its a bigger league so they have options with the big draw for us being CL.
Any good player is going to wait and find out if we qualify and also if we do we can go for a higher quality of player so it works both ways.
Its just something we have to put up with considering the situation we are in and any EPL team can come in and gazump us easily.
So its about patience mate I have no doubt we will get the g=best playes within our budget.

2.) 19 Jun 2019 14:53:10
Yes we need a director of football.

3.) 19 Jun 2019 15:48:15
Why do we need a DOF when it’s Lawell who will decide everything?

4.) 19 Jun 2019 16:03:54
Seems to be a popular position in other big clubs, but is it a buffer between the potentially volatile Lennon and lofty Lawell?

5.) 19 Jun 2019 16:46:09
We certainly need a footballing brain making football decisions. The whole infrastructure needs a shake.

6.) 19 Jun 2019 16:49:05
Because our scouting has been appalling recently wee need to try a different approach I would say so. Correct me if I’m wrong he will be in charge of scouting transfers etc?

7.) 19 Jun 2019 17:53:30
It depends on the responsibility given to DOF and how well he works with key employees.

Also the reason Luton won the league wasn’t because of two full backs come on now nothing to do with James Collins being the top scorer in the league? Would you have him at celtic? Not a chance.

Kle I’m judging him bu the standard of Leauge he’s in which is crap how many standouts in league 1 go up to championship and can’t handle it? He’s the best out side the premier league ridiculous comment imo I can name one of the top of my head that’s better in league 1 Dimitri Cavaré imo is a better player, £10m the English leauge players are insanely over inflated he’s not worth £10m I’ve watched a few of his games and he’s no bad but not the best outside premier league 😂 mcgeady is rated one of the best players in leauge 1 would I have him at celtic no chance, better than Ryan shotten nope not even close come on we can do better.

I’ve just had a look at the stats ending 2017 2018 and 2019, his first season over 20 goals for celtic, but last year and the year before he’s been well off it according to the stats he was something like 65th In the league for assists Calvin miller assisted more last year and goals last year he was on par with kenny miller for minutes per goal he only assisted 2 last year and scored 8 or 9 in 35 games his stats ain’t that bad but notably getting worse every season he’s here and he’s mediocre after his first season according to the stats, don’t blame me blame the stats lads lol!

It will be more than 1 more after Mbombo that’s for sure, minimum a quality right back, another cb and striker, and I’d say another back up rb too 3-4 more in after Mbombo.

I think we need 2 right backs a quality one and a good back up ralston imo is neither and I would sell him instantly imo I would take Mathews as back up yes why not he’s free and better than ralston.

Bain
New rb
Jullian
Ajar
Tierney
Mcgregor
Ntcham
Shved am
Forrest
Griffiths
Eddy
Would be mine
Ralston won’t be good enough imo needs sold or another loan
Is Perez good enough rb as back up, I have no clue so
Might need 2 right backs to fight it out, a new left back too as back up to tierney but good enough to take his place if he’s sold then gutman can be back up left back he looks a good talent, eboue brown Henderson biton for cm back up, and Christie rogic obviously am, Christie May be first choice but I think shved could play their and like others have said Forrest for me has to be first choice on the right he’s a 20m player when on form, left choice between sinky Johnstone Arzani and up top griff eddy bayo aicheson even forest or stinky can play up top if all our strikers were injured so do I think we need a striker I don’t think it’s a priority now no, last season yes, get a right back in next and a left back and keep what we have and I think we are looking stronger than last year. Malumbu needs to leave and Morgan I don’t think will make impact I’d even let biton go I prefer Henderson ahead of him, would I sign another cb nope I think for 4th choice Henry and commper can if need be do a job if our first 3 get injured.
