Celtic are again looking at CB Liam Moore of Reading as Plan B to the Duffy deal.
Moore is another right footed CB.
How hard is it to find a decent left footed CB because the fans knew we needed one at the start of the year when Lennon started playing the 3-5-2 formation.

Tbh mate I'm struggling to name one in our price range. Only one I can think of is McKenna and he's a cart horse.

2.) 22 Aug 2020 08:40:04
Aye maybe, but at least he's a left footed cart horse.

3.) 22 Aug 2020 09:16:34
To be honest; real class footballers should be two-footed and it's a serious fault in our early coaching (and the players laziness) to allow them to be so one-sided. However, that's where we are and it's a problem area - as you say BB - that we have known about for ages.

4.) 22 Aug 2020 09:26:16
There is plenty of CH in our price range. Shopping in a market we can't compete in is pointless. Our scouting looks very limited. France, England our phone PSG and Man city for help.

5.) 22 Aug 2020 09:27:55
Wesley Hoedt?

6.) 22 Aug 2020 10:17:17
You'd only have to look at the past 2/ 3 windows Ninja to see how wrong you are.

Theresa big lad right under our nose

Big Shug "wae the Mad Dug " McGinpsy

6ft 7
Left footed
Mental
Plays with auchinleck afftheirheids

Available for a small sum or a tour of the tennents brewery and a dominoes pizza

A tenner a day plus digs and some chum for his dug

The only thing is he's a diehard ayr United fan but hey ho

He is the talk of auchinleck

Get him signed pronto.

8.) 22 Aug 2020 13:45:18
Your right kevbhoy forgot about David "Dudu" Dahan's countless players.

9.) 22 Aug 2020 15:49:06
Simon deli, plays with club brugge and apparently rangers wanted him last summer.
28 year old left footed and 6ft 4, played with slavia prague and is an ivory coast international.

Good experience and has played in the champions league, watched him against real madrid and he was solid, brugge are supposed to be looking at selling some of there players due to financial reasons.

This could be a cracking signing if we went for it, valued at 4m on transfermarket, well within our budget and wages shouldn't be an issue.

A report has mentioned that Edouard could be changing his squad number to 7.
If true it would indicate that Edouard is signing a contract extension.
I think it was Kev who predicted this would happen months ago. 👍.

I’ve just noticed that Mike.
Edouard is also number 22 for France U21s,
Maybe he is superstitious and hopefully he will still sign an extension.

3.) 10 Jul 2020 12:56:03
First thing I checked on the pre-order for new top if they've changed his number!

I like the number 7 being vacant this early though, gives us a bit of hope for a marquee signing right up to deadline day. normally followed of course by #LawwellOut trending but last summer went well.

Reports are suggesting Southampton are willing to use Fraser Forster in their pursuit of Olivier Ntcham.

Buzz Bomb

1.) 28 Jun 2020 11:16:42
Is anyone wondering why we haven’t tied up some of our signings already? Imo we need a lw, rb, cb, another cm if ntcham leaves.

2.) 28 Jun 2020 20:26:13
Ryan the transfer window isn't open yet.

3.) 28 Jun 2020 21:45:46
If that rumour is true, and if Southampton are successful, it just shows how savvy they are, exchanging brass for gold, and how dumb we are.

4.) 29 Jun 2020 09:12:18
Swap Ntcham for Mo and Fraser

Teams have have tied up plenty of transfers awaiting the window opening so no reason why Celtic can’t

This is not the year for Celtic to mess around so I hope things are progressing on the new signings front and players are in the door soon.

27 Jun 2020 02:46:15
Expect an early kick off to our 1st round CL qualifier because it will be on the same day as the 2019/ 20 CL Semi finals.
Celtic will play on August 18th or 19th and both CL Semi finals are on those dates with both having 8 O’clock kick off times.
Uefa won’t want any interference with their showcase matches.

15 Jun 2020 06:28:39
There’s rumours that Edouard could leave Celtic this summer for £35 million.
I would probably be too hard for Celtic to knock that kind of transfer fee back, if Eddy doesn’t sign a contract extension.

The business model Celtic have followed during our 9 In A Row has worked for us.
If a big offer comes in for one of our superstars, we sell and we move on.
I would still love for Eddy to stay because he is a special player and the fact he wants to stay and make history, is another added bonus.

But if he wants to stay, he will need to sign a contract extension.
If that happens then everyone is a winner including the supporters because Eddy will help secure 10 In A Row.

Buzz Bomb

1.) 15 Jun 2020 11:36:31
The problem we have with all our top players is that we have turned into a nursery for the bigger clubs. It would be fabulous to keep them all but there needs to be a conveyor belt system so we can maintain our current business model of buy cheap, sell high. We are doing better now with the Development Squad in terms of nursing them and preparing them for the first team. The other issue we have is that if we keep our top players they'll be too good for the league we're in and they will become bored and their values will probably drop.

If Edouard and Ajer goes then the club has done its job and we move on to other projects, because in reality, that's what they are.

2.) 15 Jun 2020 14:44:05
Keep them for one more season good chance the fees will go up.

3.) 15 Jun 2020 15:20:09
Even though I believe edouard is worth 30m plus in an ordinary market, I can't see us getting offered that anytime soon with the way the current market is and clubs less likely to spend as much.
It's either we get a good offer this summer and he leaves, or he signs a new deal with an agreement to leave next summer if a good offer comes in.
The one thing we can't allow is for him to stay and leave next summer when he has a year left on his deal, chances are we won't get anywhere near his true market value then.
Would love for us to get a big offer for ajer and use it to buy forster and bring in another centre half for a fraction of the price.

4.) 15 Jun 2020 17:58:55
If he signs a new deal with the promise we will do business if a big offer comes in.

5.) 15 Jun 2020 18:53:30
Stories saying Leicester want to sell Iheanacho for £20m to fund a £35m move. If they can get £20m for that donkey then surely we can get £35m for Edouard.

6.) 17 Jun 2020 08:10:02
Let's just be thankful that we have been blessed with really good strikers in the past few years. We went through a stage of having some stinkers.

7.) 17 Jun 2020 16:11:26
He cost 9million plus PSG probably have a sell on % so Pedro will be looking for more.

8.) 18 Jun 2020 10:29:58
As I mentioned yesterday, we have invariably sold a star player (or two) every summer for years now and it will happen this 'window'.
Obviously it disrupts the manager's team-building and the support see us losing quality but the club relies on this cash injection due to uncertainty of CL progress and the meagre SLY TV £ allocation.
Fortunately, we still have the best squad in the country and NL will have plans to add and improve us even more; plus, we have adapted to this 'business plan' very successfully for the last 9 years.
Most star players that leave have nothing but praise for the club and appreciate what we have done for them and that is good PR as well.

Rookie Gavin Duncan will be our referee against Livingston on Saturday.
His only game involving Celtic was our 5-0 victory against St. Mirren before lockdown.
Gavin Duncan has awarded 11 penalties in only 25 games he has been referee since the start of last season.
Tory leader Red, Red, Red will lead the line.

Buzz Bomb

1.) 14 Sep 2020 22:40:33
Buzz it was a red red red .

Would you have been Happier if he said red red . or just red .

Or waved his wee flag?

We need to drop the referee chip on shoulder stuff. we have every advantage to drive towards 10.

2.) 14 Sep 2020 23:40:24
I still think it was a harsh red card.
Jozo never swung his arm into Morelos who went down unsurprisingly theatrically.
He put his arm across Morelos to try and get in front of the Colombian.
Look at the difference when the linesman saw Morelos swing an elbow into Scott Brown’s face at Celtic Park.
If Jozo had used that same swinging action there would’ve been no doubt it was a red card but he never.
And for the record, I would’ve been happier if he said yellow or play on. 😂.

3.) 15 Sep 2020 13:30:46
Lubomir Who . Normally you are such a sensible poster, however whenever a ref cheats us and acts partially towards our opponents, we need to call him or them out . The Bast. rd child of H Dallas only a couple of weeks ago had no shame as he cheated us from start to finish. After all round condemnation from Celtic fans and impartial football supporters, A Dallas went out on Saturday and deserves congratulations for refereeing in a fair manner . The fans made an honest referee of him for now.

Starting from today Celtic need to start playing our favoured 3-5-2 formation.
We need to build momentum and continuity.
Jullian and Ajer don't deserve to be dropped and Duffy needs game time.
In the midfield I think it's now time to drop Brown and bring either Turnbull or Ntcham into the midfield with McGregor and Christie.
Elyounoussi can't have too many complaints if he is dropped because he was poor in our last game against Motherwell and also our last 2 away games.
Celtic need to start playing 2 up front because we need to get our strikers match fit.
If Edouard gets injured again we will still have 3 unfit forwards unable to replace him.
Starting from today play Edouard and Ajeti for 60 minutes and then bring Klimala on for 30 minutes.
We should continue to give our forwards as much game time as possible and hopefully that will include Griffiths soon.

Buzz Bomb

1.) 12 Sep 2020 08:56:56
Agreed Buzz, a game like today shouldn't require a Brown type in the park. 3-5-2 high pressing, high intensity. let's start this next block of games as we mean to go on. I have said a few times already but we need to get going now, this is an important stretch now going into the next international break and we all know the 1st game back after that. c'mon Celtic, foot on the gas now! HAIL HAIL.

2.) 12 Sep 2020 08:57:45
Between the 'suspension' and these International Interruptions, we have had zero continuity, or chance to build any momentum.
The transfer window is always a distraction at this time of year, although - so far - we are in the fortunate position of having an almost complete fit squad, from which to play our strongest team.
Now we have five games or so in a row before the next break and it's imperative to not only gain those 15 points, but as BB says, play to a style and formation that suits for the players perform their best.

3.) 12 Sep 2020 09:04:37
Agree with everything you’ve said there buzz!
Looking forward to seeing big Duffy in games like today As he’s sure to be a real goal threat the amount of set - pieces we get 🍀.

4.) 12 Sep 2020 09:41:13
buzz i like your posts always good knowledge and good stats ect but does anyone really think honestly that scott brown won't be in our side most games this season he will be the first name on the teamsheat i think we should put that to bed it just ain't going to happen.3/ 5/ 2 is definitely the way lennon has got to grow a set of balls and play his team i personally think kennedy has to mush say on team selection while i know he should have input an influence lennon has always said every team lives and dies buy there strikers if it was al down to lennon i think we would have 2 up top.

5.) 12 Sep 2020 10:01:28
Buzz bomb, dingwall is a hellish venue and county form is decent eoth kettlewell doing well

Not sure of it's a 3 5 2 venue . based on their set up

What we absolutely need is a bit of grit and desire as there is always the risk that we coast our way to a 0 0 draw or a 1 1 .

What you say about Moi is very fair, this isn't a venue for him with limited space and perhaps that may be the catalyst for the formation you predict .

Hail hail prediction county 1 Celtic 2.

6.) 12 Sep 2020 10:50:03
Brown will play because of his physical presence county can be a battle. agred anout moi he's still not hit top form yet my team
Barkas ajer Duffy julien (left)
Frimpong Taylor
Brown Callum Christie eddy Forrest.

7.) 12 Sep 2020 13:58:11
Ross County have only won 2 games this season against 2 off the worst teams in the league so far. I wouldn't call that decent form. We should play 352 and if we do we will win this game confortably.

The SPFL have announced the St. Mirren game against Hibs will go ahead tomorrow.
St. Mirren have mentioned they will be without 3 goalkeepers for the game as a precaution.
I’d imagine St. Mirren will let their disapproval about the SPFL decision be known in the press up until Wednesday in the hope the Celtic game gets postponed.

Buzz Bomb

11 Sep 2020 03:53:38
A second St. Mirren player has tested positive for C.V. Their goalkeeper was already having to isolate.
I don’t know what will happen to our game on Wednesday now.
St. Mirren wouldn’t say anymore in their statement.

Buzz Bomb

1.) 11 Sep 2020 07:26:19
Can't postpone games every time a couple of players test positive BB or we'll never get the season finished. I think PSG had 7 players isolating last night and the game still went ahead. I know they have a far stronger squad but that didn't help them as they lost 1-0 with the likes of Naymar missing.

2.) 11 Sep 2020 09:42:20
Pod
I didn’t realise PSG had a depleted side due to C.V.
I did notice they had a few star players missing but I thought it was due to them getting extra time off because of their CL exploits.
Two players isn’t much but if St. Mirren end up with seven players out,
I think the SPFL would postpone the game.

3.) 11 Sep 2020 10:10:19
they played the Scotland game so there is a precedent.

4.) 11 Sep 2020 11:53:30
Not really the same Tim, national teams have a raft of players to call up. I would think if st Mirren have 6-7 players out they would struggle to field a team never mind have subs.

10 Sep 2020 11:17:13
I’m a big fan of Ajer but if Celtic replace him with Omar Colley, I would be happy.
Colley would bring balance to the defence with him being left footed.
A 3-5-2 formation would start to take shape, especially with an upgrade at LWB.

Buzz Bomb

1.) 10 Sep 2020 12:17:42
It might bring more balance as to what foot our defence is stronger with but it wouldn't necessarily improve our defence. I wouldn't over-think the left foot thing BB. There have been many great partnerships over the years where they share the same strong foot. From what I've seen of Colley, I'd rather have Ajer.

2.) 10 Sep 2020 12:22:23
You could be right Jim
If we can get another left back in,
I would be quite happy for the widow to shut now with what we’ve got. 👍.

3.) 10 Sep 2020 13:00:55
The guy Colley looks the real deal. If we had qualified for the CL or at least still being in it would have maybe helped. Would love to see it happen, but, can't see it.

4.) 10 Sep 2020 14:11:28
Any more big muney signings I fear Édouard could be for the off . I would thather lose ajer or Ntcham tbh.

5.) 10 Sep 2020 15:31:14
Its only a rumour and if Eddy wants away this won't alter that.

£22 million is nowhere near right in this transfer window.
Edouard still has 2 years left on his current contract.
I think Celtic could get between £35-£40 million now,
And I still think we could get £25-£30 in January,
But I think if Edouard doesn’t sign an extension and he is allowed to stay for the 10,
His valuation will plummet to about £15 million next summer.

It makes sense for all parties to extend his contract.
Eddy will get his wish to stay for the 10,
And Celtic will get his true valuation when he is eventually sold.
But the clause in his contract shouldn’t be released until the end of this season because it would stop any unrest in the January transfer window and the possibility he could leave half way through this season.

A step in the right direction would be to put a cap on players wages.
I thought with C. V the new contracts wouldn’t be as lucrative but it doesn’t seem to be making any difference.
Money has also made International Football less appealing to the players because of the money that’s involved in club football.

Buzz Bomb

{Ed007's Note - David Alaba's agent is demanding €350k per week and that's him dropped it down from the initial €400k that was put on the table as a "starting point" in their negotiations with Bayern Munich. Bayern are standing firm and won't agree to that and so far Inter Milan, Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester City have said they aren't interested at that level of salary.
I really don't see much changing money wise at the top level of the game, Leon but Covid could certainly cause problems for so called smaller clubs - and I include Celtic in that - the longer things go on. As long as the Pub League and other big leagues can televise games then the money keeps rolling in but in leagues where clubs rely more on matchday income there will be problems in the long term without crowds.}

But I can see where Aindoh is coming from.
Why take the chance and leave ourselves exposed to better teams.
Lennon could play his old system 4-4-2 but it would need to be without Brown for that formation to succeed.
