I read that Celtic have provided Dundee with rain covers to help make sure Dens Park is playable this Saturday and next Wednesday.
The weather forecasts of heavy rain in the next week, was putting both games in doubt.

Would it not make more sense to play more matches in the summer/ autumn when the weather is decent than fretting over winter/ early spring when the weather's bonkers?

It would but my guess is this is not an option because of international football.
