I can't honestly think of a season in past 30 years following celtic that I've been more excited or optimistic about. I think ange will get the funds to actually compete to certain level in champions league! Once we strengthen few areas be a force to reckon with and good pre season, good times are ahead I feel.

{Ed007's Note - The general good feeling around the Club, from the board down to the support has overtaken the summer of Rodgers arrival which had probably overtook O'Neill's arrival.
The board are backing the manager and modernising the footballing department - the appointment of Mark Lawwell is huge for me - we have a manager that has already surpassed expectations and whose plans the players and fans are buying into and enjoying. CL football next season, CCV already signed up and players being moved out freeing up wages and squad space.
It's been a great start to the summer for us ?

Yes Gar' but that in itself has me bothered. Are my expectation levels becomming too high? Will I be gutted if we don't get out the CL group stage?

I'm finding myself pumping the breaks in my "what could we do", "how far can we go", "the treble should be our focus" thoughts. It's easy to be seduced by Sensei Angelos and the phenomemal progress he has made in such a short time. I feel like I'm a cobra in a basket and Angelos has the tunes and rythm that I can only find totally beguiling as I sway to his trance like enchantments.

As a fan, dreamimg the dream is what it's all about for me. That "come on we can do this, Real are only 11 men too" attitude is what gets me entoxicated about the football. With the correct level of investment and forward thinking Celtic could do anyone on any given day. I believe we now have a set up in place that are just starting to realise that there is more to football than the parochial existance of our last 9 in a row. There are other mores to be had than the SPL. In Europe we have been a sleeping giant, 20 years of mediocrity is enough. The fans have had enough, the the backroom team have had enough, and I am sensing now that the board has now had enough too. Give Sensei the tools and he'll build a pantheon of footballing heroes.

I trust Ange more than my Bank Manager - let's do this.

What sort of things are being done behind the scenes re modernising etc both on field and off field . its something you never really read about . any Info appreciated ed.

{Ed007's Note - Nicholson seems to be steering the Club in a different direction than his predecessor, transfers are being conducted more professionally and quicker with footballing people making the footballing decisions.
Mark Lawwell's appointment is a fantastic piece of business, even if it is through his connections with the Club and his dad, to take a member of staff from a club the size of City staff should be applauded. We also appointed Anton McElhone as Head of Sports Science a while back.
All we need now is a DOF and we might actually start looking like a modern well run football club with long term plans in place.}

Completely agree stubbsieshorse. But tbh I trust my bin man more than my bank manager.

Im really looking forward to what we can do this season in Europe because we really struggled defensively last season but hopefully with a years more experience and a few more additions we can make a bigger impact this year.

Realistically am thinking treble is as far as we can win but I feel the brand of football will give us exciting times and fingers crossed some major scalps in Europe too especially at home. I just feel ange is the real deal he can take us a step further than past managers. Might be wrong just got good feel. Nothing wrong with having high expectations it's what makes our club great. I back celtic to beat any team at parkhead.

Mark, here's a thought.
Is the modernisation of the club's structure the first step in Desmond's efforts to sell the club in the near future? HH.

That's an interesting question Bestybhoy, as a far better and more successful club model isn't going to hurt Terry Thomas when it comes to agreeing a price at some point in the future ?.

Doubtful that Desmond will ever sell. He sees us a family legacy. I’ve always been surprised that he didn’t do a bit more to get our profile higher than it is.
We don’t know much about what goes on behind the scenes because no one tells us. Maybe he does more than we know.

{Ed007's Note - DD has no plans of selling his shares and as you say, Chas he sees it as a family legacy and at least one of his sons would be livid if his dad sold them.}

I can’t wait for the new season to start, on previous seasons anges teams perform a lot better statistically in his second season. All his signings apart from guchi, made a real impact . However we can’t get complacent, and right now I’d take another successful domestic season, and not to get hammered in the champions league. We are stepping up a massive level, from one where we struggled in the Europa and conference standard . To suddenly expect us to be competing could be a stretch. As long as we make strides and I’m sure we will under Ange, I’d take that. Our open expansive football while it brings great entertainment and excitement domestically, it can leave us open against a much higher calibre of teams. In saying all that, I’d love us to draw Madrid as that will be some away trip.
