Let's assume we sign permanently CCV and Jota for around £11/ £13 million.
Bearing in mind that every team has a transfer budget which I assume includes fees, wages etc.

Could buying both mean that the transfer budget has been reached or perhaps exceeded?

On the other hand if reports are accurate we are signing the Iraqi left back for around £2million could this mean we will only sign either CCV or Jota and not both?

Obviously none of us know the transfer budget and who will leave Celtic and receive transfer fee and free up wages etc, etc.

I maybe wrong but I suspect our transfer incomings maybe quiet depending on CCV and Jota.

Brian - unless I miss my guess then that is not how some (most? ) transfers work.

Yes - Jota and CCV will cost around the £12m mark and their wages more. But is it not the case that the TOTAL transfer fee is paid over a period of a few years. So maybe Jota's £6m might be paid over 3 years or at £1.5m over four years. I think it is obvious to state that that has to be agreed by all parties. If so, then it will not be Celtic cutting a cheque for the full £12m in one season so it would be less of an initial dent in the CL money. That method of payment may mean Celtic can bring in more expensive/ quality players in a season than the CL money of £40m would suggest.

Sensei Ange has gone on record as saying he does not see us brining in too many players this window but that the ones that do come in will be quality. Oh my Lord, I do hope so.

Someone amongst the new champions supporters can correct me if I'm way off beam!

I am probably wrong about this but were both not included in last year's budget? I know the loans for both were obviously but the final payments I am talking about?

I think someone on here (an accountant I believe) explained that Celtic amortise the transfer fees over a set period of time. I think that means if we spend day £60 million might write that off over a ten year period, ie £6million a year, and of course there would be headroom in the £6million if and when players were sold out. I don’t know if £6million is the actual figure, it might be more, and the write off period could also be longer. It’s a bit like a mortgage, the club is trading on its future income. well something like that anyway
?.

Brian, I take your point that any fees agreed to sign CCV and Jota will naturally cone out of the 'transfer pot'.

Similarly, if CCV and/ or Jota don't sign then we'd need to shell out to find replacements fir them anyway.

Also, not sure I follow your point on the Swedish LB? We need a LB, how would 2M potentially spent on him impact signing CCV and Jota? ?

As DRB highlights we've got a good few players who we can get transfers
fees for as well as freeing up much needed wages for new signings to be brought in.

We've got the nucleus of a good side but still need, IMO, 4 or 5 first team squad players (LB/ CB/ Winger/ CM/ Striker) to defend our title next season and compete in Europe.

With CL revenue guaranteed I'd hope we can get there.

I doubt £11-13M would be exceeding the budget when we spent over £20M this season - our 4th in a row missing out on CL money. Call it £40M for CL off the bat, rough estimate of 45000 ST at 500 quid a pop is another £22M. Another £5M in CL group tickets. £4-5M in bonuses for Ajer and Christie, with potentially a Dembele sell-on. Could we make a decent chunk for Jullien, Barkas, Boli, Ajeti if their time is up as well?

And £4-5m for the Ange home comming which could nearly pay for Jota on its own!
