Ed do you think we need a tough tackling mid like Peter grant or broony Granty was the best player but I always loved watching against Range*s he always wanted the ball and always put in a great shift and he hated them as much as us lol.

{Ed007's Note - We need a tough tackling midfielder that can play a bit as well, like McStay more than Grant.}

I agree. But I also wonder if we should move our captain further up I to the role most of us on here would love to see him in. Big but though. he's just won poty in the sitting role and maybe we should accept that its his position now, taking the ball from the centre backs and dictating the whole game. Maybe Ange sees gucchi or Mccarthy as this player but I think we need someone who will only play as required. Cal mac is 1st choice in that position but if away in Europe or at tougher grouds maybe an experienced cdm who is happy to come in. Like Bitton but better. Even short term dare I say it "Keano". I don't think we want to alter our style all the time.

I thi k the way sevco play in Europe is a good way 2 holding mids and hit on the break, they are not half the team we are but they have started getting good results I. Europe. I love the way we play but we are too open T times.

I'm definitely all for adapting for Europe. We've shown we can do bavks to the wall defending and if we put someone beside Calmac maybe we can be a bit more comfortable rather than this hairum scairum getting ripped open everything the opposition breaks. We also need a bit of luck with the draw. Every team they came up against are pants.

I have no doubt that we require such a player, a tough tackling/ ball winning type midfielder e. g. Lewis Ferguson or similar.

Also, with the right player in this role behind him, brwaking up the play and bursting forward, CalMac could be even better further forward IMO.

I don't see McCarthy fitting into Ange's plans and if this is the case, and playing regular football is important to James at 31yrs old, he may well move on.

Ange won't change his style and **** the Sevconians.

Peter-The-Pointer IMO was more of a NL type, linking back to front, keeping possession and short passes, but didn't strike me as tough tackling. I prefer more of a McStay, McLeod or Petrov and have to say I like what I have seen so far of O'Riley.

You could well be right Auf but he'll need to adapt, particularly in Europe.

I'm hoping with additions to the first team squad this summer it will enable him to do this.

We won’t be changing our style for Europe. Ange wants to build a team to compete in Europe playing his brand of football. Hopefully with a few good additions and the squad having a full pre season together he can progress the squad even further.
