I wasn’t challenging verbal pomposity I was commenting on Sunday live chat. I like many others have been on here and enjoyed the craic for years. That’s the first time I’ve ever singed off because of conversation.

If that was a sign of what is to come on live chat I’ll be giving it a miss.

Big fancy words on banter page don’t compensate and I’m sure live chat patter will have turned off more than me if not now then in the future.

T1M - just men being men using naughty words about a naughty subject.

My "spidey senses" tell me that we (me in particular? ) are being accused of having forced people off this site and that is an intolerable state of affairs.

Before I came on here I read this site and the other site and found a lot of the content dry and formulaic. I thought I would bring a different dynamic to this site by being more turgid in style. I thought this would set us apart from the other site and improve our shared experience of the site. It looks like I have missed my guess and only succeeded in driving long term posters under their beds.

Far be it for a newbie of only a few years to ruffle the feathers of people that consider themselves Grandees on here.

I make no apologies for being a mans man. I walk like a man, talk like a man, drink like a man and joke like a man and on occasion do admit to having shaved my knuckles of an evening . Crosses I no doubt have to bare. It's a crying shame that my formative years never afforded me the luxury of developing the delicate sensitivities that others possess. To do so would have been like sending out invitations to sharks to a feeding frenzy. Perhaps I am merely an old Diplodocus that needs to go back to simpler times? I have no wall flowers in my extensive social circle so I am perhaps lacking in a frame of reference on this issue.

In view of the above I will take more of a back seat on this excellent site but continue to drop in from time to time and perhaps even post a non expansive grunt or two.

I genuinely look forward to your future posts JFP as you do appear to be a decent chap.

I too speak a little Spanish.
‘Mucho pomposo’ actually means ‘many pompous‘ or a lot of pompous’, which doesn’t exactly make sense. I suspect you wanted to say ‘very pompous’. If that is so, the Spanish phrase is actually ‘muy pomposo‘.
Now you are forewarned just in case we get drawn with Barcelona again in next seasons Champions League. ?
