Interesting that Ajer reckons wasn't challenged enough in Scotland, Looking at last years track record the guy didn't challenge for anything!

I reckon he was challenged enough playing for Celtic considering he was played out of position for years.
He will progress playing on the right side of defence or right back in a better league.
If most of Ajer’s teammates had his attitude last season, we wouldn’t have lost the league by 25 points.
And Don’t forget it was his penalty that secured our Historical Quadruple Treble.

Thats a good one considering we lost more goals from set pieces than any other club including teams like Hamilton and RC, deary me how many times did he duck out of taking one for the team rather than take one for the team, goldfish memory .

Mally,
Ajer is gone and we still lost winners at Tynecastle and Ibrox from set-pieces in our first 2 away league games.
I agree he should’ve put his head in front of Morelos’s thunderbolt but how many defenders do you see celebrating a block or a clearance the way Ajer did for Celtic in the last 5 years.
Celtic sell the club to players as a stepping stone to the EPL and that means they should be sold with 2 years left on their contract and then everyone is a winner.
Celtic made a mess of the contracts with too many players having 2 years left of their contracts with 10 in a row in the balance.
Ajer was a great servant to Celtic and we were lucky to get as much money for him considering the mess the club made of the whole scenario.

Got to laugh at some of the players that move on, then have a condescending pop at their experiences in the lowly SPL.
Ajer was a decent player on his day and I take the point he was possibly out of position, but a position he thought he commanded.
However, he made many mistakes during his time and was by no means the finished article that could stroll through a season unblemished. In recent years there have been very few Celtic players that were too good to remain in Scotland and capable of performing on any stage:- like Larsson, Wanyama (at his peak) , VVD, The Moose and KT.

It doesn't matter if he was a great servant or not Buzz, he shouldn't be spouting he wasn't challenged enough when there's plenty of evidence that he was. If we should let players leave with 2 seasons left because we're a stepping stone then the players who get to use that stepping stone should appreciate the platform we gave them and not talk down the league once they're gone.

why is it every manager we've had in Ajers time at the club, the brentford manager now and the norway manager all play him at CB if that's not his position .

brumbhoy,
Celtic always played him on the left side of defence, when he was right footed.
It’s probably made him a better player but there comes a time when a player like Ajer should’ve been playing in his most natural position to get the best out of him.
The only game I can remember Ajer was played on the right side of CB, was at Ibrox in the New Year game this year.
I don’t know the reason both Ajer and Bitton were swapped by Lennon but both players were outstanding until Bitton got himself sent off.

The point is buzz you keep your mouth shut, he was 6.5 and never dominated in the air at any time, he did celebrate a tackle but just not last year.

Your right Mally, he should be keeping his mouth shut and do his talking on the pitch.
Ajer was my favourite Celtic player and I’m probably biased when there’s a debate about him.
For a big player he wasn’t threatening enough in the opposition’s box and when he did get his head to the ball it was never on target.
Ajer did have his faults but lack of commitment wasn’t one of them.

The comments attributed him sound like they were taken a bit out of context to me. I haven't looked, but I'm prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt. He stuck to task and gave his all, and hadn't a bad thing to say in public when he was with Celtic.

Celtic have marketing themselves as a club for players to come in and showcase their abilities with the view to get a move to a more attractive league but they don't seem to want to let them go when the time comes if a player doesn't extend their contract when they have two years remaining they should be moved on for the best deal they can get with a minimum 20% sell on clause IMO.

it was his stupid comments that he respects scottish football so much then his next comment was he was eating scotch pies now he's eating chicken salad.

For someone who ducks out the way of the ball to say he wasn't challenged enough is laughable. A cracking transfer fee for a very poor player.
