regarding whether or not Callum McGregor should have been sent out after ref waved play on to Rangers advantage and then sent Callum off.
If the rule change was indeed in play surely to god someone in Celtic team or backroom staff is sufficiently cluded up on the rules to say. you can't do that. also three other officials mic'd up. or did they keep quiet .

Ticktock - I honestly don't think many players or managers; if any, have ever read the laws of the game.

As someone who has actually read and studied them (albeit a few years ago) , I am often left shouting at the TV or radio when I hear ex footballers spout utter claptrap when it comes to referee decisions.

I meant maybe wrongly that one of the Celtic staff would know the rules and bring it to the referees attention that he couldn't give Callum McGregor a second yellow and subsequently a red.

Last month in the Scottish Cup tie, Stephen Welsh brought down Kent but advantage was allowed, which then brought the opening goal by Davis.
No blatant yellow was issued to Young Welsh because Bobby Madden must’ve known about the rule change.
It makes you wonder what’s the point of the 4 officials all being wired up for communication and then they don’t use the equipment provided.
Or maybe all 4 officials were clueless about the rule change.

It comes down to whether the referee judged mcgregors tackle to be stopping a promising attack or a reckless tackle/ foul. If it was deemed to be in an attempt to break up a promising attack and fails (as in Rangers continue the attack and score) he cannot book him as that attempt failed. But if he deems the foul to be reckless or dangerous then he can still book him even after Rangers score.

Madden therefore deemed that Welsh's tackle on Kent was an attempt to stop a promising attack and then when rangers scored - he didn't book Welsh as that attempt failed.
