I'm sure everyone knows that the betting markets are not a reliable source for rumours but the odds on Steve Clarke being new manager are as low as 7/ 1 (from 50s last week) without a peep in the media.

With his Killie assistant Alex Dyer now out of a job, and it being unlikely he'll exceed the achievement of getting to the Euros with Scotland - he might be keen on a new challenge.

He is obviously not in the same league as dream appointments like Rangnick or Benitez, but how would you feel if he was announced as Lennon's successor just before the season ticket renewal deadline?

I've let myself get convinced it's going to happen now.

Honest Mistake unsure. I would have preferred Stevie Clarke at the time but do we need something a bit more ambitious to generate enthusiasm after the massively disappointing season we’ve had? Would he sell season tickets? He’s certainly a good age (57) and has a fairly good track record having worked under some big names and managed at a good level in his own right.

Also unsure he’d want the position. If you remember when he was getting sectarian abuse at Kilmarnock he said he now remembered the extent of the problem in Scotland.

We could do a lot worse but could we do better?

We won't get the 2 mentioned but surely Clarke would fancy it. problem is he might want a crack at the euros. I wouldn't rile out Howe yet either.

I agree JFP; The club needs to be as ambitious and positive as when they replaced RD or the disappointment in the support will turn to dissent and the players react better to a high profile coach.

he will want a shot at getting scotland to the world cup for sure. as jfp also state the abuse he will receive for who he is will keep him away to.

got a mate who started taking his daughter to clyde games when he started wanting to take her to football as he wanted to keep her away from there abuse at matches did not want her growing up thinking it was okay to be like that he had a few moments also in rangers pubs because of his name he was made to feel unwelcome. big mans a big clyde supporter now been a season ticket holder for years even there vile abuse made him turn his back on them as half of his family are Catholics.

Like JFP said, Clarke stated in the past is thoughts of the sectarianism is scotland and wanting to keep his family away from that. I’d be surprised if he was interested in the job.

Bookies suddenly drop the odds to make punters think they have inside info, so lots of people then lump on it and the bookies make money. after a couple of days someone else out of nowhere will become "bookies" favourite. They just like us and the media don't have a clue as to who will be manager next season.

Or bookies are trying to get hold of your cash.
