Looks like we've got Duffy for a year . Thank the Lord a proper cb that actually enjoys defending with a huge heart and will marshall our backline. goid bit of business let's hope there's a option to buy. and a lb would come in handy as well.

Some fans have built up this 4th choice Brighton defender into the Messiah. For his sake I hope he doesn't make a mistake in his first game or he'll get destroyed on here.

Assuming it is definite, with what we have now i would go with. Barkas, Julie, Duffy, Ajer, frimpong, calmac, christie, nchamp, forest with Eddie and Ajeti up top.

bestybhoy he will defend its as simple as that he's dropped out the brighton side because graham potter likes to play it out from the back which is a dream for the opposition down there if you watched there games. god knows how many times they got done by it. that's not duffs game i said when we were originally linked fans shouldn't expect him to be strolling out with the ball or spraying 50 yard cross field passes but what he will do is not get bullied win close to all his ariel challenges and get his tackles in. id say he's close to an old fashioned CH as there is and what most supporters think we need mate.

liamlennon, if he was as effective a defender as you seem to think he is then he'd still play an important part where he is. Time will tell with him. I hope he does fantastically well, I'm not saying he's rubbish, my point is that anything less than outstanding and brilliant in every game and he's in for pelters from some people. HH.

Ajer is a better footballer than Duffy but not as hard, if Ajer goes we need 2 centre backs and we need a quality left back, personally I’d play Frimpong as a right winger and sign a right back, we missed out on Stephen O’Donnell and could have got Ricardo Rodriguez for just €3m before he signed for Torino Both would have done us a good turn, and another goalkeeper wouldn’t hurt either .

Good post Liam. it's exactly what I've been saying . we are way too soft at the back and from what I've seen of him and it's a fair amount he's a big hard no nonsense defender who won't jump out the way of shots like ajer did on Wed. he's also great attacking the ball at cornered a real goal threat and at 28 jyst hot to h his peak. Hope this gets done.

besty by the sounds of it you will be the first to give him pelters. that's not really the football works is it if you don't start every week then your not worth more or a better player than ones starting. ntcham for us for example when he doesn't start.

Toughness is needed lads it will help Julien and ajer. But in saying that they did great at weekend. Maybe Lenny have them the kicking they need we bit of psychological games going in.
So ajer elhamed Julien Duffy defence if it not paper talk. . I also noticed ajer started to attack and go forward again. As he stopped doing that. Wonder why was he being a baby. Frimpong and Forrest at the sides.

I hope Duffy settles in and does a good job; however, I really like Ajer and although he has defensive frailties - he is some player.
IMO he's not in his best position and why he was 'moulded' into a defender, when he can't handle big bruisers or is not particularly strong in the air is up to more knowledgeable people than me; but if he was in our midfield 'pool' with Cal-Mac, Turnbull, Christie, Ntcham or Brown etc; we would have plenty of options and variety.

Settle down guys and stop over reacting to a simple comment. I said I hope he does fantastically well if he comes in. I'm simply pointing out that he's not considered to be in the top 3 at Brighton so he isn't the world beater some are hailing him to be. He does have some good qualities but he's no messiah. He'll have my total support and I won't give him pelters, that's for sure, but it'll be interesting to see who does if he ever has a bad game. HH.
