Silly season hasn't even started yet but there have been a couple of rumours (sources unidentified) suggesting we could be in the market to trade Ajer for Benkovic in a convoluted deal of some kind. If it were a runner I don't think it would be a good deal for us.
Who is the better defender? Benkovic is when he's fit, without a doubt.
Who is the more reliable defender of the two? That award easily goes to Ajer.
Reliability is what we need for 10iar and Benkovic doesn't give us what we need. On his good days he is fabulous but those days are always just a tweak or a twist away from a lengthy absence. Ajer could, of course, suffer a long term injury just as easily as the next guy but he doesn't seem to be as prone as Benkovic is.
For me we should keep Ajer if we can. HH.

Ajer is the better defender. He's one of Eurooe's best young defenders. Oeople forget how young he is. I honestly don't know why he gets so much grief at times. If we were after a CB who was captaining a first team as a teenager, is a full international, has experience of winning titles and playing European footy, we'd be creaming our knickers. And, if true, there's a reason Leicester would be willing to swap the pair. Anybody thought about that? So I agree Bob, keep him if we can. 100%.

I would love to keep Ajar if he wants to stay. But I don’t want an unhappy player.
Benkovic would be a gamble especially with Elhamad and Jozo still on the books.
But we could have the luxury of the transfer window not closing until after the winter window.
If that is the case Benkovic could be worth the gamble but he is another right footed centre back.

Benkovic looks good on the ball but is always injured we should stick with ajer but av said countless he's got a lot of improving to do.

biggest strength is coming out with the ball and a great athlete, his positioning is terrible fair enough he's young enough to work on that but my god his jumping to win a ball in the air is non existent.

Ajer is only at 70% of his potential. He'll get much better. He doesn't appear so far to be injury prone. Personally I think he's a better bet than Benkovic because of that. HH.

Like VVD before him, I feel like Ajer strolls through most SPL games and although he has lapses in concentration maybe due overconfidence? He has tremendous talent and ability and could play in most positions with ease as well as an eye for goal. A born leader who could be a Celtic legend if both parties could reach agreement.

Ajer is a better defender than benkovic. he's stronger, he's harder in the tackle, he's braver and he is fitter. There is a reason teams want to pay 20 odd million for him while trying to off load benkovic.
