A think these two boys from the Manchester clubs are his doing good to have someone with good contacts down there still early but a yeah from me am I right in saying he could get the job permanently if he’s a success?

I was wondering the same thing Kev and it’s early days but from what I’ve seen so far yes I think he’s done well and has possibly earned a crack at the role permanently. As I said we’ve lost KT, Lustig, Boyata and Benkovic yet remarkably we’ve emerged from the transfer window no weaker and potentially stronger which is some achievement. What’s your own thoughts?

When is Nicky Hammond contract too any body know.

I think you have to give him the job on trust. If these young players he's identified turn out to be good then he'll look a genius, but, if they don't make it he'll be getting dogs abuse, it might be a couple of years before we find out how good they are.
I was pleased that we made some signings to bolster the squad but I still feel that the club could be a bit more ambitious.
A lot of people on here have said that the Europa league is our level which is probably true, but is it beyond us to become a club who qualifies for the Champions league on a regular basis, I don't think it is and I don't think we would need to break the bank to do so.

I have heard a couple of stories that Rodgers and his man took apart the scout system that was in place before them to rebuild it how they wanted it but now the club thinks it doesn't work well and have asked Hammond to totally rebuild it again.

He may have but what ever was in place wasn't that successful dembelle aside there wasn't much else in the way of develope and sell. on id give the boy a chance.

On this window at the start I would say no but maybe that is because he had a lot to do and sort out but for the latter part of the window I would say yes I think depending on PL influence he would be a good asset.

Wasn’t edouard one of congertons too? Maybe an eye for a striker but that’s all?

Dembele wasnt congertons or Rodgers, didn't deila lay the ground work in getting him signed.

Dembele wasn't one of congertons. Celtic were already in talks with them.

Remember when Peter Houston left for falkirk. Read article his job was to fly to Europe and watch youth games then report back on any gems. Always thought it was interesting the depth in scouting.

Jim according to Lennon he worked his arse off and was involved with almost everything. Talking to agents and clubs all over place.

Yeah I seen that Kev. To be honest i'd expect a DoF to work his arse off when it came to recruitment. I have no real idea about what success Hammond has actually had but I'd rather have him in that juncture than nobody, or PL. My point was though it would be nice to have some real transparency as to who is responsible for what signings. From the outside looking in I'd guess Forster was in Lennon's Contacts still, Elhamed looks to have been a Duhan suggestion and we've already had Elyounoussi on our radar. But as a collective, I'd be quite happy to ride with the current set up involving NH. If the manager wants him to stay then that's going to be best for the management team.

I think we should give him a deal, he's done more in his short time than congerton appeared to.

05 Sep 2019 22:12:08
He's not a director of football Jim. He's head of recruitment.

19.) 05 Sep 2019
05 Sep 2019 23:02:25
Is he not? He was a DoF at Reading and was a Technical Director at WBA. Assumed it would be the same sort of role and with no official title being given to him by ourselves. Six and two threes, he'll be involved in recruitment.

From what I heard was these two Bhoys were being watched by us for over a year so can't be Hammond doing.

21.) 06 Sep 2019
06 Sep 2019 10:32:44
That's the thing Marco, I'd imagine a lot of our signings were identified before NH came in. Truth is it's to early to judge.

Tough window to judge him on but the balance of the squad looks good most of the deadwood has gone and he's managed to secure loans for a few of our promising youths too.
