Not too old as a director of football is more of senior role in the club. His position would be between the manager and directors. He wouldn’t be coaching players so wouldn’t affect the style of football.

Martin O’Neill would be a great shout for Director of Football, he is too old and cleverin the head to be Peter Lawwell’s “Puppy†and is Lenny’s mentor and they would work well together as Lenny would trust his judgement when he needed advice and Nicky Hammond is only there for this transfer window anyway, might suit Martin to take a more senior role at this stage so could prove a good partnership.

Are directors of football not responsible for how youths are coached and scouted also the sports science department is run and for watching potential signings. Far better with Deila that Oneil if we are looking for ex managers.
