I am disturbed by the reaction of some people to scottish born players.
They seem to think if you did not come through the celtic academy and progress to the first team you are not good enough.
It is fine to want foreign players for the squad.
1. How many want to come and play in the scottish league.
2. How many are good enough too wear the jersey
3. How many will play for the money we are offering
Once you factor in these facts the pool of potential targets gets very small.
We have seen over the years a number of seemingly good players flop under the pressure of playing for a big club.
Scottish based players can compete at the highest level
Robertson and Christie.
Who is to say that O'Donnell would be less of a RB than some who have worn the jersey in recent years.
He would clearly be less costly than some of the non scottish people who have been touted in recent weeks and I would be surprised if we could be out bid by a championship club as has been the case recently.

I have watched O Donnell closely when he plays for Scotland and I think he struggles at that high level. He does have potential and he will get better but at this stage I would only have him as cover and see how he progresses.
After waiting a long time, we have to get the right man for this position.
I will be raging if we get the Beer Sheva player to play right back because he is not good enough and is more of a central defender. All the clubs he has been to have loaned him out and I do think it is his agent that is pushing for the move, rather than its a player Celtic have identified.
If Celtic have identified him, then we could have cover for right back and centre half but he he would not be my first choice.

The sense of entitlement from our fan base disgusts me bud, could sigh a worldie and they would still find a reason to bitch and complain. Same people that are moaning we haven’t signed a RB are now complaining that we might sign a RB, their total ignorance astounds me.

I'd personally be happy with odonnel for the league but as Leon said we need someone with a bit more quality for Europe.

Why? We are not going to be able to compete in europe regardless lol.

Celtic could sign kyle walker for 50 mil. And we still won't make it out the group stages.

Stephen O’Donnell is 27 years old, he is well past his “has potential “ days, we need to find a better quality of right back than that .

I didn't realise he was 27 Drewzybhoy. With the experience he has got with International football, I would still have him as back up.
Hopefully we get a right back before the euro deadline on Thursday. It would be good for him to play a couple of competitive games before the competition in europe gets stronger.

I have never had any problem signing Scottish based players but right now there are none that would make us a better team other than maybe Turnbull and that's open to debate.
I can't see a Barry Robson, Paul Hartley or Stuart Armstrong in our league right now.

McDonnell isn't some young player that's going to jump leaps and bounds talent wise. He's 27 which should be his peak years.
He is a not bad player but he'd be a back up level at best for us IMO.
