Possibly the Ed's may know a bit more about this.

A few Celtic sites I am on are kicking up about the cancelling of the parade after the Cup Victory secured the Treble Treble.
The authorities blamed it on crowds and safety. There was also another event taking place in the area.
NOW, Any potential parade would have required an Application First and foremost then - Permission, Risk Assessment, Barriers, Stewarding, Police Control, Medical standby, Signage, Traffic Control etc. etc.
The SFA, Glasgow Council, Police Scotland (even the guy on his white charger) are being blamed for not having one.
CELTIC have been very quiet in their response to why there was NO bus parade. Did someone at the Club mess up and either failed to apply or did not submit in time/ correct requirements etc.?
Much as many would like to believe in who and why it never happened. It seems to me that there is something lacking from OUR side in all this.
Any thoughts or more information?

Celtic announced the Thursday before the Final that themselves and Hearts had put in plans with their Councils for a parade. Bit of a mess up on the day, fans didn't help by standing in the road and blocking it off but Stewards/ Police could have stopped them also, bit of common sense isn't much to ask for on both sides.

Tiny Tim,

You're correct and there is probably "blame" apportioned in a few ways. Celtic, Glasgow City Council, Police Scotland and some exuberant fans who wouldn't take a telling to stay off the road.

The club would have applied for the parade and the council would consider the route with the police considering road closure orders and resourcing for police, stewards and barriers etc.

What I don't understand is the short notice application and how anyone could expect that type of event, and the obvious numbers who would turn out, to be managed with no barriers or for Celtic not to have employed more stewards to assist.

I think the club messed up in this as they should have applied weeks ago and planned for this better with the authorities.

Reasonably if someone had been knocked down because they wouldn't stay off the road, imagine the uproar and blame given then!

If there was any doubt over the safety of the parade in the first place then police scotland should have objected and Glasgow City Council refused it saving all those fans turning up and being disappointed.

Definitely a balls up by someone.

The problem to the Glasgow authorities was that it was the wrong Glasgow team who won the treble for them.
