We badly need to sort out our away performances. In too many games the opposition are pressing us high up the pitch and denying us time or space on the ball.

We surely know what's coming in these games, we have to find a way to counter it.
It just seemed one of those games where Rodgers got it wrong. I think he should have left McGregor in the midfield and took a chance on getting away with Hayes or Izzy at left back, at least it would have meant weakening only one position.

On the plus side though, we are top of the league with a game in hand, when December started I would have taken that considering our fixture list. Hopefully with a three week break the players will get a good rest and rediscover their form.

I really think it’s more than that-I believe fresh investment in approx 3 first ten players are needed, no more projects, Lawwell has been asleep at the wheel for long enough.

{Ed007's Note - So Brendan Rodgers & Lee Congerton didn't make any mistakes last summer? It was't Lawwell's fault that Piccini didn't sign, it wasn't Lawwell's fault that Dembele turned into a moaning faced liar and stabbed Rodgers in the back on the last day of the window and it wasn't Lawwell that DEMANDED we sign Compper and Musonda a year ago....
The only thing Lawwell has messed up recently was the McGinn signing, he's backed the manager even when it's left him chasing ghosts like Piccini and Castagne will likely go the same way.
I give him dog's abuse but Lawwell has done a fantastic job for us on the commercial side BUT it's when he meddles in football matters he falls down (McGinn?) and has done for years but to say he has been asleep at the wheel is just preposterous.}

Didn’t think we would see any reply’s from you tonight Ed a know how you like to let the dust settle. There’s been the usual over reacting posts but it’s understandable I forgot how much a despise that lot and the feeling of loosing to them.

{Ed007's Note - And that's it, the dust settled for me after Mass tonight lol All it was a loss to THEM and that brings all the knee-jerk reactions BUT we're still top of the league with a game in hand. After the winter break we'll come back with a refreshed squad with Rogic back and the likes of KT hopefully fit along with some new signings to bolster the squad. Losing Dembele was huge but losing LG had proven to be a bigger problem with us needing to rely on Eddy, and we need a better back-up LB than Izaguirre.
I expect the team we see starting next season to be unrecognisable to the one we've watched the past 18 months.
Would you rather be in our position of top of the league with a game in hand than theirs? That is the question .......

“When he meddles in the football side he falls down”, see, it’s the football side I’m taking about Ed, I also agree that the manager and Congerton (who’s been a disaster) have a lot to answer for, but the last two transfer windows have been a shambles, and Lawwell has to take a big share of the blame, the lights are good, the Celtic way looks nice, but failure in the recent windows regarding freshening the squad up is down to him aswell. do you think there will be any first team arrivals in January? .

{Ed007's Note - Yes I do think there will be first team arrivals in January. So what failure in recent windows do you lay the blame at Lawwell's door - Compper, Musonda, Gamboa, Benyu, Kouassi, Hendry?
Lawwell messed up with McGinn, he's admitted that and apologised to Rodgers but Rodgers has admitted his own disasters with Piccini who was never coming to Glasgow but Rodgers had Lawwell hassling his agent knowing the player wasn't coming.
Did Rodgers think we should have just threw enough money at Piccini to get him to sign?}

Ed your wasting your time. Doesn't matter what you say the board will never get credit when things are going well and it will always be their fault if it doesn't.

I laugh because few seasons ago fans wanted to lynch John parks but now all we hear is about how good the signings were in his time.

{Ed007's Note - But there were a lot more misses than hits with Park as well, for every Wanyama and van Dijk there was a Pukki and Balde etc etc etc

Ad say there were more hits than misses with him ed. He was there nearly ten years mind.

Pukki? The man can't stop scoring at Norwich these days🤣🤣 Bet he ends up going to a team in the pub league for a zillion quid😂.

Ed 007

I'm at a lost with your post. You verbally attacked me at the start of the season when I said Lee Congerton wasn't doing his job properly. You put the blame at Lawell door.

Not looking to argue with anyone. I've always maintained or transfer dealings have been poor Under Rodgers/ Congerton.

{Ed007's Note - I've never blamed anyone but Lawwell for the failure to sign McGinn. Congerton has produced lists of potential signings (that's his job btw) for Rodgers to decide on who he wants, if the manager then asks Lawwell to pursue players that have no intention of joining us it's hardly Congerton or Lawwell's fault is it?
The failure to sign the manager's top target in the summer - McGinn - isn't Congerton or Rodgers' fault.}

Cheers for the reply something not right that's for sure. These next 2 Windows are massive. Quality needed and dead wood out. If the decline keeps going we will never get 10.

{Ed007's Note - Over the next 2 windows the team needs an overhaul with the old guard needing replaced - guys like Gordon, Lustig & Bitton, even Brown needs told that he's not a guaranteed starter and has a HUGE decision to make about his future - and the squad players who aren't good enough or offering nothing shipped out.
Our squad has been bloated for years now and yet we still seem to be stocking up on squad players rather than first team regular starters, our youngsters like Ralston, Johnston etc should be our squad players
It looks like we'll also need to replace Boyata and Benkovic before the start of next season or we'll end up in the same situation Ronny was when VVD and Denayer left without adequate replacements. There's no doubting Ajer's quality and potential but he's still a kid and like Edouard shouldn't be playing every week.}

Naw it was McGinnis fault. He choice villa over us at the end of the day.

{Ed007's Note - He should have been signed up long before he had that choice.}

I agree with Kev. Pedro was trying to get the best deal for the club, which is his job, and if McGinn was really Celtic daft, he would have signed when we matched Villa’s offer. Don’t want players at CP with that lack of commitment but I’d also have to question if he’s good enough to get into our midfield anyway.
