Reading between the lines, it appears Adam Idah has refused to travel with Norwich to force his move. Can't say I'm a fan of that sort of thing but hopefully the clubs can push the deal through quickly now.

He's to be punished but wish we would put this to bed and pay the money.

Norwich are going to explain his position tonight apparently.
I hope he hasn't done that Kev as it isn't very professional and if he does it to them, he could do it to his next team and that could be us.
Hopefully that is just a rumour and that Norwich have decided he won't be their first choice striker and both sides have agreed he can move in.

Did Henrik not do something similar to try force through a move to us while at Feyenoord? might be mistaken though!

And at the same time the board could've just paid a fair fee for him, let's face it I loved Ohs enthusiasm but if we got 4m for him then I'm sure Idah is worth 10, I wouldn't pay 10 but you see my point, 2.5 x better than Oh.

Turner Adam is no where near a £8M striker, he was 3rd choice at Norwich. £5.5M with add ons is plenty, if they won’t accept then move on quickly.

Had they not already sanctioned a loan with option to buy for 3M with someone else before he came to us? But then after his successful stint with us, they re evaluated which they definitely have every right to do.

Whatever the story is here, we need to get an offer of around £5M plus add ons and get the bhoy signed.
After that we still need upgrades to a few positions in the starting 11 if BR is to take this team forward, particularly in Europe.

Having no option to buy was Celtic's fuck up. There may have been no time so late in the window. It appears the people running Celtic never learn!

30 Jul 2024 21:47:12
Norwich insisted on No option to buy that’s why he was allowed to come to us on loan.

I don't like to see this one bit. If he'll do it to Norwich he could very well do it to us. I'd still take him though. We've obviously tried to go in under Norwich's valuation but if the difference is 1.5m then pay it. 100m in the bank and we're acting like we're skint. Sorry tam, but what Norwich want is not a lot for a decent atriker these days. If you're setting a c3iling at 5.5m then you probably aren't getting much.
{Ed007's Note - To be fair to Idah this decision won't have been taken lightly by him or his agent, perhaps they feel Norwich are being unreasonable in negotiations or using the will of him and Celtic to get the deal done to hold out for an excessive fee,
By doing this - and if he has put in a written transfer request - it'll cost Idah money, not just a fine for not turning up it will have an effect any money he is due from Norwich when he does leave.
Here's a question, if the Celtic "board" have been dragging their heels over this why has Idah fell out with Norwich? That doesn't make much sense does it?
What if the scenario is that Norwich have been obtuse over negotiations and Idah's agent has decided that this was their tipping point, if Norwich didn't agree a deal by the time we came back from the US then they will force a move from their side?
11.) 30 Jul 2024
30 Jul 2024 22:49:48
I know we can only speculate, but if we made an offer and they state they want more, does that put Norwich in a position similar to ‘fat boy’ at sevco when they said he was worth £20M and his agent went back and demanded a wage rise to reflect their valuation?

There is clearly something going in behind the scenes. He did turn up later than everyone else, he travelled alone.
He would not have done this off his own bat, he would have spoken to his agent.
So you may be right Ed, they may be hoping other teams come in for him, to get the price up, but he has, said he will only come to us, so they are being awkward.
{Ed007's Note - Transfers are a murky business, MIP that's why I hate transfer windows.

30 Jul 2024 22:58:34
Ed007 your right, it doesn’t make sense. looks like Celtic have put a reasonable offer in and norwich dragging it out leading to frustration on Idahs behalf.
{Ed007's Note - Norwich started it with the patter about the new manager wanted a look at Idah even though the player had told both Norwich and Celtic he wanted to move back up here, that's just playing the transfer politics game but as I said, imo the situation has reached a tipping point and Idah's had enough.
Did Celtic have a tipping point, did they want it sorted by the time they got back from the US or we were moving on?

I think Celtic will probably feel Norwich are profiteering Ed. I've been critical of them for not getting the deal done but I also appreciate that feeling like you're being ripped off is a bitter pill to swallow.
{Ed007's Note - Norwich are quite entitled to hold out for as much as they can get but it needs to realistic and reasonable.

31 Jul 2024 05:47:49
I feel for player in this scenario, if club transfer politics get in way of move he’s forced to try and push move which reflects bad on him and doesn’t guarantee he gets the move he wants.

31 Jul 2024 07:13:11
He came here on loan as they were not giving him game time, he played really well and now they want big money for him.
I can understand though that they have a new Manager and he wants a look at him, as he is their player but they have never came flat out and said he is not for sale. If they had we would probably walk away.
Instead they have put a higher value in him and now if he isn't sold, he will again struggle to get game time.
They didn't allow a loan to buy option which makes you think that was their plan from the outset, if his loan was a success, they could inflate his value.
They maybe made a promise to him which they have reneged on, hence his action.
As Ed says, transfers are a murky business. The only way the truth will come out is if and when he leaves.

31 Jul 2024 09:33:23
When you put it like that Ed, it doesn't really make sense. We can 9nly speculate how Norwich have been acting I suppose. If they're changing goal posts or playing funny buggers then that would make more sense why Idah is frustrated. But if we haven't met their valuation, straight up, then that's on us.
{Ed007's Note - I just don't see what Idah has to gain by taking the huff with Norwich if the problem is at Celtic's end.
18.) 31 Jul 2024
31 Jul 2024 11:03:39
Sorry Ed but this is Peter Lawwells fault and no one else's. Right?
{Ed007's Note - Isn't everything?
19.) 31 Jul 2024
31 Jul 2024 11:25:02
There was always going to be an increase in Norwich's valuation. It's quite possible that Celtic were aware of what it was previously and, like I said above, probably feel like Norwich are pulling a fast one. That's the most likely for Idah taking matters into his own hands. Burning bridges at Norwich makes no sense if Celtic are the ones making the deal difficult.
