Hi Ed, how are you doing?

Reports today suggesting we've tabled an initial bid for the Argentinian kid, Alexandro Bernabei, that's been rejected.

Have you heard anything on this one and do you think Ange views this lad as back up to Taylor or is that starting spot up for grabs?

{Ed007's Note - i/'m good, Pedro ?I don't know for certain of any official bid for Bernabei apart from what's been reported but Celtic have spoken to the player's representatives - a work permit could be a problem. Remember Mohanad Jeahze was reported to be signing "in the next few days" the other week by all the places saying the same about Bernabei.
Imo Greg Taylor has earned the right to be our first choice LB next season and it'll be up to Bernabei or A.N. Other to displace him.}

Some reports saying the bid was rejected, not sure how accurate right enough.

Glad to hear you're well Ed, good man ?.

That's a good point on the work permit and although I'm not upto speed with the qualifying criteria, I'm pretty sure this lad has only been capped at under 19's?

Although not my favourite player (wait for it. ) I agree that Taylor should have first dibs on the LB jersey.

Early days but as ever, we watch with interest.

{Ed007's Note - I'm not 100% up on the new regs either but I think it's easier now to get work permits for players from South America than it was pre-Brexit.}

Taylor is a average spl LB. If that's our ambition it's scary. All opinions I suppose.

Taylor did well, but we still need competition and we need a better LB if we want to be better in Europe. He starts with the jersey and it’s up to him to keep it. I think his final ball is always an issue. He gets us loads of corners by failing to get the ball past the first man, but we are hopeless at them. I use us getting a corner to get a beer and haven’t missed more than 3 goals in years. I think I read we went nearly 120 corners without a goal. With Scales going on loan we definitely need cover and by cover I mean better.

{Ed007's Note - I think that Taylor's attacking play greatly improved to an almost Ralstonesque level, especially in the second half of the season.
It wasn't just Taylor's fault we were beaten by Bodo/Glimt.}

I agree, we were poor all over the park. They were a good outfit but we didn’t turn up. Taylor did improve and I hope he continues on that road, we still need strong competition which should improve him further.

Ideally, we'd have the equivalent of JJ at LB with Taylor available as back up.

Agree that Taylor came onto a game in the 2nd half of the season under Ange but he still has a way to go IMO.

Scales looks a cert to go out on loan therefore cover at LB would seem to have been identified as a priority.

We'll wait and see.

Taylor done well last season but you could see he was blowing out his arse towards the end of games as he had no competition or rest. Another LB would not so much be to replace Taylor but help with the workload of a busy season ahead.

Taylor contributed roughly a Goal or Assist every 6 games last season. Ralston was closer to every 3 games. Taylor has improved a lot and flown under the radar while Ralston has received a lot of plaudits. In my opinion we need better than both to step up in Europe and should have that by the end of the window.

I know Taylor improved as the season progressed but I think league is his level. I think he will struggle badly in Champions league and we need a LB at that level as a priority signing.

{Ed007's Note - There'll be more than Taylor will struggle badly at CL level.}
