Agreed Kev as Lawwell no doubt hampered him. Might be the new manager/ DOF wants his own guy though.

Good news if Hammond is away aswell. Another disaster out the door. His signings have been brutal.

{Ed007's Note - Hammond didn't decide who we signed. If it was up to Hammond Toney and Omar Colley would have been here, he also had Everton's Lewis Gibson and possibly Mark McKenzie lined up.}

People seem to think that it was Hammond that signed all the players we brought in. The only people responsible for the players that we signed were Lawwell and Lennon.

{Ed007's Note - The final decision was Lawwell's.}

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. At the beginning of the season we had signed a £5m Greek international goalie, a Uruguayan international left back from AC Milan, a no nonsense centre half from the EPL (which most fans craved) , arguably the best young talent in the country in Turnbull, a £16m midfielder on loan from the EPL and a £5m Swiss international striker from the EPL. On paper it looks like very good business. Fast forward 9 months and apart from Turnbull the rest have failed to be a success in my opinion. Barkas and Duffy in particular have been a disaster. However before a ball was kicked that’s looked like pretty good business in my opinion.

Yeah his record at previous jobs backs up Hammonds credentials. Worse head of football we've had and we had
Lee Congerton suits everyone's agenda to blame Lawell/ Lennon.

It’s hard to judge them really as we aren’t sure how much has been taken out of their hands . Even congerton who Auf referred to, on paper signed us some duds . And yet Rogers took him to Leicester, he signs two players that we wanted apparently ( castagne and James Justin ) who both look excellent . Like a few others have stated, lawell obviously had the final choice which obviously came down to what he thought was the cheapest option. Both of these ( chief scouts) may have actually put forward loads of decent players that was brushed aside due to perceived costs.

What was the point in appointing Hammond if lawell wasn't going to back his judgment, wasted wage.

I always wondered why lawell decided what players we signed
Lawell is a businessman not a football man.
