He is 21 and American, playing in a poor standard MLS . not the answer for 10iar push, but a decent prospect?

Haven't seen him play but this is ridiculous if it's the standard of player we are going after. I get the point our model is to buy young but this season is an exception and seriously need to push the boat out for a decent experienced centre half and a reliable left back,

There's no crisis but make no mistake we're seriously vulnerable at the back and jullien/ ajer aren't as reliable as people think.

Jullien tane a few games to get going last year and was a massive player for us last season. Let’s not forget he’s the best goal scoring CB we’ve had in a long time. Funnily enough he had 5 shots on the opening weekend more than any other player. He’s a threat in the opposition box no doubt.

Mark, you haven't seen him play but he's not the standard we should be going for? That doesn't even make sense. Did you say the same about VVD when we signed him from Gronigen or Wanyama from Beerschot?

If our recruitment team have identified him then they must see something in him.

Spot on Robdoc
There have been plenty players who we hadn't seen or heard of that turned out to be great players for us, Lubo springs to mind.
On the other hand there have been plenty players who we have all heard of whole were dire after they arrived.
Every signing is a risk no matter his past or if we have heard of him.
This boy has also played for the USA national team at every level from U15 and has had 2 full international caps this year.

{Ed007's Note - Someone asked the other day about McKenzies team mate Brenden Aaronson, so I got this from Ed002:

Brenden Aaronson (AM) seen as an exceptional talent in the making. The Philadelphia Union attacking midfielder is a target for the summer. Celtic have watched him but they won't be as attractive as a move to Germany where Eintracht Frankfurt, Hoffenheim and Freiburg have also taken a look.

Robdoc, if you look at my post I said this season is an exception which calls for an experienced defender to be signed and not the standard of a young player from a totally different country who will most likely take time to settle.

In regards to you mentioning VVD and wanyama I don't think I questioned our past recruitment? I'm not implying by any means that this guy isn't capable or has potential the same way players we've previously signed but you're having a laugh if you would rather we pursuid a young lad from the mls compared to an experienced player with us going for 10 In a row which most likely night not happen again.

Ah OK, so you would prefer that we signed older players that have experience?

Can you name the last player we signed in that elk that actually performed well for celtic? Majstorovic or Robbie Keane maybe?

How about Freddie Ljungberg, carlton Cole, mulumbu, el kaddouri, kolo toure, antoine fortune. the list goes on of "experienced players" that have flopped at celtic.

If they're good enough then they're old enough.
