Celtic make an official enquiries for Turnbull of motherwell.

Really hope we get our business done sharp this window Kev. If we’ve definite interest in certain ( achievable) players then we need to act fast and hopefully not end up with another mcginn scenario.

See this mcginn scenario rubbish it does my head it.
How long is it going to take for people to get the fact that HE CHOOSE not to come to Celtic.
He didn't want to stay in Scotland.

This is the kinda player wee need not shy about the picking the pull up and haveing a go what’s been missing from Armstrong and very direct get it over the line Celtic.

If Celtic hadn’t messed about Kev and done their business a bit sharper mcginn may have ended up at us and not down south. He CHOSE to go down south in the end but if Celtic showed real intent in signing him early doors I believe he’d have came to us. Just my opinion Kev, don’t expect u to agree with it.

He was the top scorer for Motherwell this season, 15 goals.

Garry that's a case of if you aunty had baws she'd be your uncle.
But in interest of debate if Celtic had bid 3 early what would have stopped villa matching it and mcginn still picking them because he wanted out of Scotland?

Does anybody know what team this young guy supports. If he’s a Sevconian I can see them forking out £3m for him. I would if I was them and if he supports them it would be hard to compete. I know if I had a choice as a young man to play for my team I would jump at it.

Please save me the bolloks they wouldn’t be able to afford him, they spent as much as we did last year. They will get the money from somewhere, unless you believe the rubbish Phil McDoom et al come out with obviously,

I hope we get the boy regardless of who he supported. Many of my absolute heroes grew up supporting them. McGrain, Kenny and many more. £3m will be money well spent. Hopefully Lawell enters the negotiations with more than a bag of shrapnel. Some feckin hope, but he should have learned a lesson with McGinn. He wanted to come and it was all the dithering that led him to go to Villa,

Magicpole it not just money we can offer. It's trophies and a chance champions league as well. Just need to look at scott allan to show who he supports doesn't matter.

I may very well be wrong here Kev and if I am fair enough, did Celtic not match the fee asked by hibs, only when villa offered an acceptable fee? The main point I suppose I’m getting at if In this instance Motherwell have said £3 million, if Celtic feel there’s a £3 million player in their then make the offer before any other club, if he then gets offers matching ours and chooses elsewhere then fair enough we can’t do anymore. Equally if we feel £3 million is too much then we move on.

I hope so. But it would be a factor if he supported them and he too believed their hype. I have next to zero faith in Lawell. Last summer in particular was a shambles. He sat on the tin and allowed a team needing fresh blood to stagger across the line. He failed to tool us up for the CL costing us £60m yet still trousered £2.3m. We made just over £3m for winning the treble and he takes nearly the same amount. Fecking shameful. What other CEO would be rewarded for costing his company £60m?

None.

He better get his dithering, cheapskates arse into gear. We have gone backward down to his incompetence and risk averse stand. We desperately needed to strengthen last year. This season it’s a major rebuild and that is indefensible. He had better get it right. Going from wiping the floor with Sevco, to two humiliating defeats is his fault. He can take his Defabet deal and stick it up his arse. Over its duration it won’t even cover his bonuses. Explain that to me when we are talking about £3m for a young player with bags of potential? £600k more than he pocketed? Don’t tell me we can’t afford it, if we can pay him that obscene amount on top of his wages.

As far as I’m aware, McGinn was already on his way down to speak to Bruce when we agreed a few with Hibs. Don’t blame the boy one bit for going down south.

06 Jun 2019 17:02:29
You seem to ignore the fact that Celtic were told by Hibs the offer it would take for them to accept. Celtic went in with 3 separate offers below that amount. Only when Aston Villa met Hibs asking price did Celtic react by matching the offer but by that time it was too late, McGinn had already decided to join Villa. Bottom line is if Celtic had made that offer at the beginning McGinn would be a Celtic player but he’s not so we move on.

That’s the main point I was getting at iceman, it’s all fine and well saying he chose to go south. yes after us dithering I believe. Mcginn played his football on our doorstep just like turnbull at Motherwell does. We know what these lads can or could do at this level, we had all the time in the world to sign mcginn and left it way too late to react. For me if Celtic has stolen a march and got they’re finger out early doors and showed real intent mcginn would’ve been at Celtic. Regardless of who we want this window if certain players have been identified ( and I know not all transfers are plain sailing) but show real intent and go do everything possible to get the deals done, within our financial bracket.

They've asked to be kept informed if any bids come in . this is a risky strategy and the boys head could be turned if the English come calling. just do the deal just now and don't risk losing him can't understand this way of working.

07 Jun 2019 10:55:55
We dithered and put in derisory offers i know for a fact he wanted to sign.

If we had offered Hibs what they wanted when we enquired then McGinn would have been a Celtic player. Our dilly dallying allowed Villa to get involved in the first place. McGinn wanted to come to Celtic but when he saw the way it was being handled by us his interest began to fade and another club coming in made it easier for him to decide. HH.
