Turnbull fae Motherwell has been rumoured to be a target now this time if this is right Celtic should learn from the past and pay the money get the boy in instead of dicking about then loose him.

Probably the only player I would want outside of Celtic in our League. The news came from Stephen Mcgowan at the Daily Mail. I tend to avoid the mail but Stephen is usually spot on with Celtic stuff, think he knows someone in the club so I expect Turnbull to sign. What is it 16 goals from the CAM role? Something we’ve been missing.

Missed a trick with wee McGinn and this boy definitely looks the part anything under 2.5mill snatch him up.

Falkirkbhoy88 we never missed a trick with McGinn, as I said in a post on Tuesday, in an interview following villas play off win McGinn said this is why I snubbed Celtic, to play against stronger and faster players. oldkilly.

Would take mcginns comments with a pinch of salt, there's no doubt at this point last year if celtic paid the money for him instead of lawwell playing the cheap card I'm pretty sure he would have came before villa came in, Steve Bruce said himself at the time he was surprised he ended up at villa, it was totally in Celtics control to get the deal done early and it would have been a direct replacement for Armstrong.

Agreed GreenClover. No offence to your comments either OldKilly as I think McGinn made those comments only after his move to Celtic was off. He would have jumped at the chance. We had a mess of a window last summer and that was solely down to Lawwell not delivering promises and getting deals done. I am all for saving money but there was no issue with the McGinn deal in that respect. No matter what we would have made money back on him whether that was him being a long serving players or selling in a couple of years for a larger sum. We better not make the same mistakes this summer or we will fall further behind.

I don’t think he mentioned Celtic in his interview, not the one I saw anyway. He said he had options to go to premier sides but wasn’t guaranteed first team football and that villa were a bigger side than the ones interested. I took that to mean teams like Burnley etc were sniffing around . If he mentioned Celtic I apologise but like I say, I never heard him mention us directly.

Hendry clears almost 30 k a month at Celtic you’ll be luck to get that a year at Motherwell it will never happen unless it’s on loan of course.

If Celtic had offered £4 million at the time for McGinn, they would have got him, think I said it at the time, but the offer was no where near that, people on here were saying he was worth no where near that, he was only playing for Hibs, he wasn't good enough for Celtic, etc, etc, these are the people who think if a player comes from some exotic place he must be better than a Scottish player, that say they don't want Celtic to buy anyone from the Scottish League, because they won't be good enough, probably the same people that think Lennon isn't good enough, and are judging him on coming in as a caretaker, they don't understand that he is older and more experienced now, and in the new season will be working on a clean slate, judge him next season not the tail end of this one.

Well said Rich T, we've had enough penny pinching and getting embarrassed by it in the past. If the lad is on our radar and Lennon thinks he's good enough then he's worth whatever Motherwell are asking for him, probably £2m plus. That's small change in today's footballing world, even for us, so get it done fast. HH.

There's many a player that come and go through our league, some who have blatantly obvious potential to go far and others who are a real gamble and may not work out but there has been talent to be found.
The likes of James McCarthy in his hamilton days if we offered the 2m barring he stayed injury free could have been an excellent signing and as much as I love Tierney you just have to look at andy robertsons career, another had it not been for tierneys rise was well within our reach.
The latest has been mcginn, with his style of play you can just tell the lad has the no nonsense approach needed for us which would have worked a treat had we not time wasted and got the deal done early, I'm beginning to think lawwell was grudging paying rob petrie the fee considering there relationship.
The point is more often than not we're found lacking when it comes to snapping up homegrown talent and should take more control as we're potentially missing out on some real top drawer players, it isn't a coincidence the likes of mcginn and robbo are getting awards and being named in team of the year down south.
