Man utd to battle man city for van djik! Source? The telegraph on sly sports paper pages!

1.) 21 Feb 2014
DB not suprised at this at all, VvD has class written all over him and if he is selected for the WC he will go in the summer. He will make the Club a few bob though bIhope he stays at least until Summer 15. Hail Hail

2.) 21 Feb 2014
Is he good enough for either of the teams mentioned?

3.) 21 Feb 2014
Given the position of the United defence with Vidic going in the summer, Ferdinand not getting a look in under Moyes and Smalling (in my opinion) not being up to the job, it is believable that United would be interested.
As for City, I'd have thought that they would be on the look-out for a permanent partner for Kompany. Just not sure if they would want Virgil just yet. maybe another season.

4.) 21 Feb 2014
Agree with you tam! He does look good and still not the finished article yet! @ Edward! Who out of smalling or Evans would you consider better @ man utd? I watch just about every Man U game on tv and both are pants! Rio is too old and injury prone! Vidic is off at the end of the season! Vvd would be a cheaper option than Dante or the likes that are all valued at over 30 million so?

5.) 21 Feb 2014
How do the rest of you think Virgil compares to Victor? I think any fee would have to be at least the same figure - more, considering that he has a while on the contract and doesn't seem to be angling for a move .

6.) 21 Feb 2014
VVD will be off in the summer! I agree with rabbie as well the fee has to be @ least 12m for the big man! He's a class act at 22 and he won the Dutch young player award last year! VVD, Forster and commons that's the three players for our Scottish player of the year.

7.) 21 Feb 2014
I don't think he will go this season. Maybe after next season. All speculation, plus can't see man city or Manchester United offering £12m for a player who has had one good season. More chance of that figure after end of next season if celtic play consistent in europe.

8.) 22 Feb 2014
DN30: sure, we were consistent in Europe this year: consistently poor :)

9.) 22 Feb 2014
@rabbie I agree mate lol

10.) 22 Feb 2014
I think he is a quality player. my point is whether he is good enough for the manchester clubs. these clubs now operate in a transfer market much higher than the one we do. VvD hasn't played any senior international games for example. Martin Skrtel's name being banded about today. 65 international caps, over 50 games in europe for zenit and liverpool. that's just one player. howedes, subotic, hummels, bonucci, garay all i'm saying is these clubs, because of their finances, have better options. plus if we lose him after wanyama, ledley and probably forster then WTF!?!

11.) 22 Feb 2014
Of course we are going to lose him in the summer, he is destined for far greater things I'm afraid. He is by a country mile our best outfield player and is too good to be plying his trade in Scotland for long. Nice hefty profit, however still very disappointing.

12.) 23 Feb 2014
Big Victor Wanyama was head and shoulders the best player in scotland for two seasons. arguably in our european group too. still only picked up by a middle of the table premiership team.

13.) 23 Feb 2014
Just read an article in the metro, utds move for van dijk not to happen this summer. Vvds Mrs is apparently in love with Glasgow and the Celtic family :)

14.) 23 Feb 2014
@edward71 I agree with both your posts. I can honestly see Manchester United spending big this summer to replace vidic, evra and possibly ferdinard. can't see them going for van dijk though, don't think at this stage he is good enough. I do think he has the potential though to play for a team of that standard a couple of years down the line though

15.) 23 Feb 2014
We got to keep VvD! he's the best we got. Large. Much more technically profifient than Victor - he does everything righ. Victor was raw and fast. Different players. If only we had them in the same time!
