ghuys, ghirls. what's your thoughts on drink at the ground. I would be all for it, when drinking in the ground was banned, let's not forget, it was not sold there. it was people going through the turnstiles with carry outs. people were getting in with carrier bags full of cans and bottles.
i'd imagine any booze drank in the stadium would be sold in the stadium in plastic cups at airport/train prices. but that would be preferable to squeezing into any of those pubs around celtic park before the game. shammy

I travel in car from Huntingdon cambs it takes me 5 hours ish and as you shammy the pubs are pact when I was a bit younger that was my thing but now I bring my two young bhoys up and for next year looking for someone to car share with so on my trips not driving back I would love a beer inthe ground while watching my hoops, the fact is the 80s was a testing time for football everywhere times have changed and the risk of losing your season book is enough to control order, let's get it straight we are talking of 3 beers at the most Celtic need too push this through as a extra cash injection in to the club but most of all to treat ther fans like adults, jodrok

In this climate, it just isn't going to happen. And probably shouldn't.

3.) 27 Apr 2013
There's a dozen or more bars already. Executive seats and hospitality. People are drinking before during and after game.
I don't see how the cheaper seats shouldn't be allowed the same enjoyment.
People's behaviour has changed the last thirty years.

I think it would be a great idea mate. It would be so easy to implement for the club and another source of income. there are so many ways to operate this scheme, all of them very sensible in my opinion, that there is very little to condemn it.

Sadly we have to face off against the rugger playing middle class, and we all know they don't think the oicks can behave in a civilised fashion. It will come, but for me it will be at least three years away. green jhedi

5.) 27 Apr 2013
It would make sense to bring it back, in the 80's it was not controlled, With the way football grounds are policed and the amount of stewards in them, I don't see it being a problem nowadays. Anything that brings people back into not just Celtic park but to football as a whole I think at least needs to be tested. maccabhoy

Would love to believe that all of us could act in a responsible manner and that having a beer at paradise would be the norm unfortunately there are a few who probably due to lack of intelligence cannot be trusted to do our hoops proud

Its entirely acceptable and proper. On the continent you can drink. At the Euros you could have what you wanted. I had a few beers myself at one of the games and very nice it was too celebrating Sammis goal v Germany with a beer. The beer in any case usually 2. 3-2. 8 % light stuff. Still refreshing and enjoyable and better than a poxy soft drink! The mayhem involved in getting a beer at pubs around the park is avoided by all but the bravest and youngest drinkers in our support and good luck to them but its not for me. A refreshing light beer is the way to go inside the stadium. I applaud this initiative regarding grown up social drinking as I do Mr Lawwells developing initiatives for the match day experience. So, so far, most in favour. good.
i was in dublin last year and sitting there with a pint watching the game was nice.
the last time we went for a wee drink before a game a paradise, the pub was so crowded it was a pickpockets dream, and some fecher took her purse from her handbag. shammy

No way seen to many drunken ar*eholes who have abused real fan's even women & old folk during my time at parkhead seen some real liberties being taken by booze fuelled dafties. Also the amount of so called Celtic fan's I have seen in the last couple of years damaging with a bevvy in them seats toilets roofs doors inside paradise no thank you I believe in the long run more fans with family etc would end up not going imo. Few other things to add people going to the toilet up down in & out your seat & finally confrontation with the police I think they are just itching for an excuse to sort a few Celtic fan's out. In an ideal world it would be fine alcohol at the game but not in Scotland inside stadia please no. HH AbS

So then Celtic fans are drunken whatevers? No offense but what decade was all this happening in? No-one is saying there is to be a free for all bevvy session. We are talking about well organised grown up social drinking. It will start I would imagine with a controlled restricted introduction. Then rolled out as we go dependant upon the feedback. We know there are certain factions in the establishment itching to nail us but should we then give up on our aspirations and plans because of them? One of the problems encountered now is guys rushing to get a few bevvies then as a result rushing to the stadium with time short due to in no small part the restrictions. Alcohol consumption is made much worse by intense drinking over a short period. This goes some way to avoiding those scenarios. Also I defy anyone to have more than two or three pints of regular beer or lager and be able to enjoy the game properly. You are either rushing to the toilet or just can't follow things properly due to a fuzzy head. I accept there are going to be eejits about but why should the 99. 99% of adults be treated like weans because of them. In any case there will be restrictions and strict controls and sanctions for anyone causing trouble. They exist now BTW alcohol related or not. Sopotcelt.

I think that drinking at games could be controlled. The stewards could check peoples i'd going through the turnstyles and those eligable could be given a slip that would allow them 2 drinks only. These slips could be stamped at the bar and when the slip has 2 stamps no other drinks would be served. What do others think? JK

Sopot have you ever been to a game? These instances happened this season last season & previous seasons not years or decade's ago. I sit in113 had 4 old bhoys who had sat next to me for years we had a drunken ar*ehole & his weans take up seats in front of us within 2 game's the drunken ar*ehole had threatened the senior citizens two of whom had difficulty with there Mobility. His exact phrase was this " stop asking me to f*cking sit down or I will open my jacket up to sort you ya auld B*stards yees! I had to intervene as it was disgusting shocking even mate, I'm there with kids & women to enjoy watching Glasgow Celtic play football & support my club in the proper way not intervene on frequent occasions with ar*eholes over the years like I have had to do & the common denominator has always been alcohol. I'm not a Ned who thinks he is something but I will & have told quite a few drunks over the years inside Celtic park to shut there mouth singing bile or behaving in a way that's an embarrassment & puts our club in the spotlight for the wrong reasons. I'm not the moral compass of Celtic but I would never do anything to shame those famous hoops with my support. If you would like confirmation of any of this my family & other supporters who sit around me will confirm these instances & many more mate, not a problem. HH AbS

J. K folk who don't drink could pass there vouchers/stamps or how ever it works to those who do I would like a wee beer enjoying the match but the privilage would be abused anyway the soft drinks on sale are watery and luke warm what chance have you of getting a decent pint plus the constablary would never go for it good idea just to many negatives i'm afraid

14.) 27 Apr 2013
To abs i'm with you 100%, enough a-------s at celtic park behaving atrociously having been drinking prior to going to match, can't imagine how they would be with more alcohol available inside ground
for me leave it as it is. jimbhoy

15.) 27 Apr 2013
If they can successfully do it in England then why not? The home team generates more money from the away fans being contained within their concourse drinking rather than the pubs outside. A no brainier!

16.) 29 Apr 2013
Getting more disagrees, I can understand your reasons, but nasty, aggressive anti social behaviour is nothing to do with drink.

if we had 50,000 in celtic park, all drunk, or drinking. i'm pretty sure 49, 500 of us would be fine and cause no trouble, but yes you would have the rest who would be arses. but those arses are arses when they are sober anyway. look at it this way, if the arses were drunk and the behaviour was getting out of hand, maybe that would get them banned and rid of.

to the disagrees, you are all good/nice people, as am i, and like me you would never cause bother no matter how much drink we have. i'll give you an example.

80 odd thousand celtic fans went to seville. most of whom drank copious amounts of alcohol. zero arrests and a fair play award. I rest my case m'lud .
