ed 007 is there a possibility Celtic could try sign Melling this window or will they go with taylor and boli.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - To be honest mate I don't know if we are interested in Meling but I do know that he has offers in France and in Turkey so £ could be an issue if we are.
For me personally I'd be delighted if we could unload Bolingoli and sign Meling though.}

It’s a strange 1 he’s been very good anytime Iv seen him ad have thought he would have been signed by a bigger team by now.

my thinking to ed boli gives me the fear with the defending side of things hese okay going forward. would rather replace him with meling. what do you think about using boli on the left wing get him further up field abit adds some options there.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Not for me, get him out the door for as much as we can get for him. What if we continue with the 3-5-2 and we need Bolingoli to defend?}

10 Jun 2020 17:31:27
fair point ed he is awfull at defending. are wee looking to offload him this window.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I've heard a few murmurs that Bolingoli himself and his agent aren't happy with the way things have went so far, whether that's a sign that he knows he needs to vastly improve or a sign that they think the move was the wrong one I don't know mate.}

10 Jun 2020 20:46:45
We can only judge on what we've seen so far but I think to want him out the door is a bit unfair without giving him a 2nd chance and a run in the team to prove himself.
There's been plenty of players the past few years who have had there fair share of chances and somehow been around a lot longer.

Not all signings are going to click straight from the off, I think bolingoli just needs a bit more coaching on the defensive side and a confidence boost, he at least deserves another chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - We need to get him out the door for as much as we can before he ends up like Kouassi, Hendry etc as worthless. After 28 appearances I'd hope that's been enough for Lennon to tell Hammond that he's simply not good enough and looks out his depth in games and if the rumours are true since he arrived, training.}

11 Jun 2020 04:33:31
I understand that point but they all can't be tarred with the same brush and I think it's unfair to say we should get rid of him before he ends up like kouassi and hendry, the difference with those 2 were that they were horrible practically any time they played, bolingoli has had a rocky start but to say he looks out of his depth is a bit premature.
I'm pretty sure there's been plenty of players in recent times who have been signed and got off to a slow start but turned out to be good signings, rogic, ajer, armstrong to name a few.

Strengthing defence vital if it transpires ajer and Henry go only jullien left perhaps a benkovic loan the names McKenna and souttar will probably crop up along with unknown foreigners at left back meling looks good.

Why does everyone keep going on about the man made of chocolate? We have just let one injury prone CB leave and people want to replace him with one just as bad?

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2020 22:35:35
Because we have had bids knocked back for the player keV that's why he will probably always be linked, I'm not saying he's the answer btw.

McKenna that is.

10 Jun 2020 08:25:38
Not McKenna that carthorse I was on about liam, it was benkovic the man made of chocolate.

Sorry kev, I actually don't believe we will go for benkovic but I do think McKenna would be an option.
No info just a hunch.

Wouldn't touch either. As well playing biton there as either of they 2.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'd agree with that, Kev. Bitton's good enough for the SPFL and I'd even have young Welsh - if he signs up - instead of either Benkovic or especially McKenna.}

10 Jun 2020 13:55:01
yip totally agree i think bitton easily good enough.

Shon Weissman a players name that has been mentioned repeatedly online. Allegedly we are preparing a 5m bid for the player. I assume Wolfsberger his parent club are hedging there bets on a large sum in relation to Manuss Dabburs move to Sevilla/ Hoffenheim however you want to see it, from Salzburg. We know all about him - and his team mates.

If Weissman continues the run of form he's on he'll be one hell of a player and won't be staying in Austria for too long! Probably taking a chance on this one but, Bayo is expected to leave on Loan or Permanently. I assume Klimala will go out to another Scottish club on Loan?

So that leaves us with Griff and Eddy for rotation, if we are playing 2 up top then we're going to need another striker at least!

He's got a great record. Then again so did Bayo. That's the gamble you have to take though. If he moves to a better level and continues that sort of form then we'd have next to no chance of signing him, he'll be one that got away. So if we moved Bayo on and brought him in then I'd be happy with that.

Correct, Wolfsberger are in a better league, they aren't close to being champions either with rapid vienna etc in there place. It wouldn't surprise me if Salzburg picked him up. He would be a good addition to our squad and seems a more convincing signing the more i look into the stats!

From what I've read he's an option but only if edouard is sold, let's face it but, if edouard does stay then he's most likely going to be playing up top with Griffiths so I can't see us going for someone who will cost millions and be first team straight away.
He's got a cracking record in a better league with a year left on his deal so I think it's definetely worth exploring and sending bayo the other way.
Klimala only signed in January and is finding his feet so will most likely stay as backup and push for a first team place, just hope this isn't another 4m wasted.

As a replacement to Edouard makes the idea a lot less attractive to me. From the footage I've seen he doesn't seem to have anywhere near as much about him. Very much a penalty box striker, which although can be important, and would be great to have alongside somebody like Edouard, I doubt very much he'd be a good replacement.

09 Jun 2020 17:35:21
Totally agree he's definelty not a direct replacement for edouard, he's more of a penalty box striker and we have Griffiths there for that providing he stays fit.
Wouldn't mind us going for him but if the price is right and he can fight it out for a first team place, a goalscorer after all is who will win you games.

Agreed 👍. I think a CB might be a priority this window, that and a GK.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2020 18:23:04
Goalkeeper and a CB are without a doubt priority. We can't go from Forster to inferior keepers back to Forster and then back again to Bain. We need better cover at CB, and that's even if we keep hold of Ajer.

Totally agree, if southampton are willing to play ball then the best case scenario for us would be to get forster on loan for another season then buy him permanently next summer when he has a year left on his deal, I just hope the big man can see how good celtic has been for him and he'll push for this move.
No disrespect to Bain or gordon but they're nowhere near the level we need, Gordon has been a great servant but he's on the downward slope now and Bain for me isn't celtic first team class, it's absolutely paramount we push the boat out to get forster back especially if we're going to try and make inroads in Europe again.

As for centre backs I reckon we need two in regardless if ajer stays or goes, possibly one for decent money to partner jullien and another on loan for cover with simunovic now away. I like ajer and he's still got plenty to learn but he's just way behind on the out and out defensive side which has been our downfall, struggles with positioning and timing most of the time.
If the rumours are true and we get an offer of at least 15m for him I say take it, get forster and a quality centre half in with another one or two for cover.
