Good evenin ed how are u?. First great performance from the team today well done bhoys and wot do you think of this ok rite with this new setup in scottish football do you think that celtic should try and get a second team to play in the 3rd division I don't c why not barca real madrid both have be teams and I think they would run riot in it so wot ure thoughts and all my fellow supporters think just a wee idea no wi a mean HH Bring on Juve coybig jcge, stef1967 {Ed007's Note - I'm good thanks Stef. I have said for a years we should put our reserves or a B Team into the lower leagues but the highest level they can reach is the First Division. You could make it that all of our players need to be under 21, it would help their development a lot better than the current set-up.}

Did anyone else see Football Focus this afternoon and the interview with Sir Alex Ferguson? He was talking about his long apprenticeship before becoming a manager and that (unless I misunderstood) he just can't see how you can go from being a player straight into management. I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on this considering Lennon's successful management career so far.

Henrikstongue

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Lennon didn't just go from being a player to as manager.

He worked under Strachan at Celtic from 2008 as a coach and then took over as reserve team manager till he got the Celtic managers job and was a player coach Nottm Forrest. Not a long apprenticeship but he got some experience at least. Long apprenticeships don't guarantee successful managers though do they? Look at that clown in charge of the Deady Bears! He has to be the oldest rookie manager in the history of the game lol. And he's an absolute diddy into the bargain. Rank rotten

Agree3 Disagree0

I think he is talking more of the ones stepping into the English premiership teams with no experience. jj

can anyone explain why gershon and rogic were not included in the champions league squad

Believable3 Unbelievable3

You expect them to play? They would take spot from others, what big games have they played in? They just arrived as unknowns and it's not like they are a wanyama or Ambrose to walk right in

Agree0 Disagree0

Both could have been handy to have on the bench if injuries occurred though.

Agree1 Disagree0

That's why its a 25 (?) man squad, nl thought the others were better or deserved it

Agree0 Disagree0

How do you know there not the same standard as wanyama and ambrose?

Agree0 Disagree0

That's the point we don't know if they are but wan and ambro had games in squad and forced their way in, we can't have the new guys in cl right away if it not a big name player

This is what I was posting about a few days ago, I believe we've named a squad one man down because McCourts been pulled out, why they never at least named Rogic in the squad is baffling. Stevie

Agree1 Disagree0

Unless saturday's squad was actually our third team (which it def wasn't) it seems reasonable to think that rogic would be named for cl. i'm not saying he should be in the starting 11. but considering he is seen as our biggest signing in the window wouldn't be reasonable to think he could at least replace whoever is 25th in the squad?

Agree0 Disagree0

I believe he may be protecting rogic by leaving him out. He's a young guy just moved to literally the other side of the world, still learning about his team mates etc etc.

If we pitched him in against juve in our biggest game in years and he falls flat then there is a chance he could lose confidence/faith in himself. I think Lennon is giving him time to bed in if you like.

It's all I can come up with to explain the space left in the squad.

Jamie mac

Agree0 Disagree0

Lennon said after yesterday's game that he wanted to stick with the players that got them there, only fair
MickL

Agree0 Disagree0

They have played one competitive game and a CL match of this importance has probably came too early as they are both settling in to a new team and a new country.
Hopefully, there will be plenty more chances to fulfil their obvious potential - if we even follow up on Gershon's loan.

Jungle Jim

Agree0 Disagree0

Celtic have left two spaces in the champs league squad. I don't get it

Agree0 Disagree0

After NL names his 25 man squad on paper, he can then only pick 18 for the night of the game! So it wouldn't make any odds to name them as they wouldn't make the cut anyway given the performances of the others to get the team to this stage. I don't see the argument

Well fair play to Lenny for having the nuts to make nine changes. Pleasant surprises all over the pitch for me. I thought Gershon looked a good solid capable defender and scored a good goal. Paddy had his moments but clearly was tiring, understandable given his recent game time, and Kayal is starting to get back to where he was. The big bonus was Rogic, Fraser and McGeough. I thought once we had settled into our shape they were excellent. Rogic, although he had a couple of breathers, was very clever in his running off the ball as the first goal showed. This bot will be special when he gets up to speed. Big Fraser was terrific, very confident in not passing men on but quite prepared to move out with his man, and looks to be developing nicely. Great to see Dylan getting there as well. The boy had one terrible injury and a few niggly ones but looked good today. Well done Lenny as well, changing the shape of the team three times was good coaching. let's not forget this was, probably, our toughest away game of the season and we pretty much strolled it. Really enjoyed it. . . . green jhedi

Great to see McCourt starting today, think he had a no bad game considering the amount of game time he's had this season. Dylan Mcgeouch Rogic had great games as well. That was basically our second starting 11, Inverness beat Rangers 0-3 at Ibrox, we beat them 1-3 on there own turf shows that the team the have now would struggle to stay in the SPL imo. Hail Hail FifeBhoy1888

Believable13 Unbelievable5

Im sorry paddy time has come let him go!

Agree0 Disagree1

McCourt should never be anywhere near the first team, should have been shown the door long ago!

Agree0 Disagree2

Not so sure. not so sure. the result was great no doubt but Rogic tired very easily and went AWOL for most of the 2nd half. Miku (other than the goal) did not work anywhere near hard enough and Stokes showed him up to be a total passenger. Forster looked uncertain for the ICT goal and didn't show any real zest to get back up and attempt the 2nd save. but a good result all the same. The best man on the park was (in my opinion) Mr Stokes who led the line well

Spot on NL brave, sensible team selection and praise also due to the players given a chance today.

Especially pleased for Miku, I've been his biggest critic, but fair play lad, credit where credits due. Deserve your goal.

Believable10 Unbelievable1

Got to say as someone who slate's Paddy Mc court all the time I thought he had a good game today, wonder was it because all the big name's were not playing and he did not feel in awe? Just a thought. Anyway well played Paddy.

Gotta say folks my hunch is we have yet again unearthed a gem in tom rogic you can tell this kid has got plenty about him. He was excellent today and the playmaker we have craved may have been found for a paltry 500k.

Realy pleased for Gershon but have to admit even more pleased for Miku. He's taken a lot if stick (me included) good on you lad, well done.

Clever team from NL today, using the squad depth really well.

Bring on Juve! Hail Hail

Believable9 Unbelievable1

Its was good for the lad he scored but if your honest Miku was again rotten. He owes Stokesy for that assist today big time. He was awful up until then. He has no future at Celtic. Maybe if he worked a bit harder he might have set Stokes up for a chance. Rogic looked the b*llocks. Great turn, then acceleration and great cut back for the leveller. He never stopped working for 90 mins and has the physical presence to be a success in the SPL. Great results with a shadow side.

Agree1 Disagree0

Very true mate, he was rotten (Miku) and I totally agree no future with the bhoys.

Anyone else think that at 9/2 ICT suddenly became a decent bet? That's a lot of inexperience for a tough away day. Looking forward to seeing Rogic.

Believable0 Unbelievable14

Easy to click unbelievable when game is over ye clampits. Thought we were excellent in 2nd half today. Watt was impressive when he came on and it'll do them youngsters good to experience that. The league is over so hope to see more off McGeough, Watt and Rogic.

In Champions League football, the protocol is for one team to HOST another. Celtic will be HOSTING Juve And thereafter Juve HOSTING Celtic.

Anything else is bad manners.

But what would charles green know about that?

My thoughts for Tuesday's line up

Forster
Lustig Wilson Mulgrew
Matthews Brown Wanyama Ledley Izzaguirre
Samaras
Hooper

It's a tough ask trying to get the balance right. With Ledley there to help it should make Izzys job easier. Matthews would love the chance to run around the back of the Juve defense knowing that Lustig is in good form if it breaks quickly. Samaras free to roam anywhere between the midfield and Hooper. If Ambrose plays, it's a straight swap for Mulgrew, which is a shame because he brings the dead ball into play better than anyone else on the team.

Melb Bhoy

Believable2 Unbelievable4

Mulgrew is a dead cert to start mate! if anyone in your starting 11 was to drop out it would be izzy and mulgrew would take kis spot.
i have to say though I would settle for your 11 and formation and I would imagine you won't be too far away

celticthomas

Agree0 Disagree0

Excellent formation, I'd be happy with that. I can't see Ambrose being back in time, even if he was I think all that traveling has got to be fatiguing.

Id definitely rather play a fresher Mulgrew than a weary Ambrose, plus Charlie gives us that dead ball accuracy.

We need Sammy to be fit!

Quack

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally a would go with that startin 11 aswel mate but a really can't see lenny going 3-5-2 in a european game and a can't see commons not startin with his goal threat and delivery and a honestly think he will take the risk with ambrose aswel a think its going 2 be

forster
lustig wilson ambrose mulgrew
brown wanyama ledley
commons sammy
hooper

not sayin that's my preferred 11 just think that's what lenny will go for only other change maybe matthews going in ther sumwer maybe lb and mulgrew replacin ledey in left side of cm which he shouldnt, Whatever the team is its going 2 be 1 hell of an occasion and tues isn't comin quick enough HH

Agree1 Disagree0

There is a major issue with playing a back three. Good teams will exploit this with long diagonal balls into corners. This stretches the back three creating space for midfield runners to exploit. As I said good teams will exploit this all match long.
