Don't mean to go on, but I've been on a high all day. So bloody proud of our bhoys. Glad to see the majority of decent fans from rangers and other clubs appreciating a good result. That makes me proud of Scottish football supporters. Honestly, words can't describe just how I'm feeling. Come on celtic, just a few more games to go. Show the world what you're made of!

Don't wanna jinx Celtic but it's looking good for last 16

Is it true that Neil will encourage the players to get more involved with
the Supporters Clubs functions ? This would really give the fans a signal
that our support is appreciated.

Fellow Celts, I read the site regularly but have never posted. Last nights result, perforamnce and GB display has left me smiling all day. I have to post. Lenny's tactics were spot on, the discipline and concentration shown was fantastic. Like many in the summer I thought that if Big Fraser was not going to sign we should have looked elsewhere - Lenny stuck at it and he has been proven right! In Lenny we Trust.

Hail Hail - if you didn't shed a tear last night you don't love this club enough!

We are a Special Football Club.

Believable14 Unbelievable2

I shed a tear. Not just for the result, but for Lennon. He deserved this

Celtic's win over Barcelona is their best ever, says Henrik Larsson
08 November 12 15:32

Celtic legend Henrik Larsson has hailed the club's Champions League victory over Barcelona as their best European result at Celtic Park.
Larsson, who scored twice for Celtic in the 2004 Uefa Cup final, said the win surpassed anything he had played in.
"It has to be the best one, without a doubt. Beating Barcelona, with the team they have now, beats everything I've been involved in," he said.
"It just shows that anything is possible in football."
-------------------------------
Larsson is correct. This Barca team are at the top of their game and Galacticos. Celtic players tamed them across both games.

Believable15 Unbelievable1

Celtic have shown that you beat Barca with the aerial ball into their box or last third. They obviously prefer the ball on the grass and don't even float in their corners.
All three Celtic goals were the result of a high ball set piece and header, a corner and header and a big punt up the park which Barca failed to control allowing Watt through.
To stave off their impressive attacks, 8 man zone defence and don't be drawn too far out allowing them in behind you.

Just trying to work out the whats need to finish at least second, If we draw 1-1 in Lisbon and Barca beat Spartak does that mean we qualify?

Believable12 Unbelievable0

That's it mate....last night was spectacular but Benfica will be every bit as tough in their back yard..lot of work left to do. Last nights will instill some great belief in the squad! HH

Agree1 Disagree0

Yep any score draw should see us through if barca don't get beaten in Moscow

Mikey Bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Win last two games ,top group, last 16 and job done..... sit down have cup of tea and a scone

Agree0 Disagree0

We will get beat in Lisbon, Barca will beat spartak (they have never lost 2 away European ties in a row in they're history). That leaves spartak out. We will sit on 7 points a piece with benfica. Barcelona will beat Benfica at the nou camp. And we will draw with spartak or even beat them....either will do. We will be in the next round I have no doubts about it.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Nov 2012 03:03:46
Or we will win the last 2 games by at least 2 goals in each game and I think tbh we should go for it and maybe that will help us in the rankings and hopefully get champions league for years to come I think with all the hype around celtic now we should bring in 40 mil with champions league money ,tv investment , sales of merchandise and players future prices shooting up we will be strong for years

Agree0 Disagree0

@3 why so negative?

Agree0 Disagree0

After beating Barca and narrowly being beaten away . After beating Spartak away how can you come away with that nonsense that Benfica will beat us and we will only draw at home with Spartak . Are you at the wind up........DH

Fraser Forster last night in my opinion surpassed Arthur Boruc as arguably one of the greatest Celtic goal keepers ever. Ian L

Believable21 Unbelievable3

He actually made more saves and more quality saves at the nou camp.
Celtic and Barca should both be on 8 points, that 4 mins 50 second extra time goal in Spain was so unjust.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we drew in the nou camp, Barca would only have 7 points to our 8.. Lets just be happy with what we have right now, we just beat barca, sitting nicely in 2nd, and we are 1 win away from last 16!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Barca would be on 7 points if they didn't get that goal, we'd be top on 8

Mikey Bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

The big man is a better celtic keeper for me.ability wise boruc is an outstanding keeper but i dont think he worked hard enough that is why he made so many howlers

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree. Forster looks like a total athlete. Apparently he's one of the last to leave the training ground. Big man for me is on a par with Joe hart at the moment. Ian L

Agree0 Disagree0

Mate there is no arguably about it. Boruc, Forster and Ronnie Simpson are the best goalkeepers we have ever had. Bonner was a ledge but like dracula when faced with a cross.

Ive heard the Javier Sanchez Broto chat before aswell and i cant take that seriously.

Agree0 Disagree0

Best ever. total nonsense. played 4/5 really good games and many including me slated him for long long periods. especially last season when he couldnt catch the cold. best ever what a joke.
bonner was incredible. boruc done it for years not a few games. come back in 5 years if he is still at a level. remember. newcastle did not want him. only got in england squad cos every1 else pulled out and to the guy comparing joe hart. get a grip. forster is good but will never play for england and if he was the business the steve harper would of been sold by newcastle. not forster. FF wanted to stay at newcastle but pardew said no thanks big man. ill stick with krul
and harper. a total hasbeen.
People on here should actually think before posting utter nonsense {Ed007's Note - Who pulled out the England squad? Apart from Hart, England has a distinct lack of GKs and you are wrong about the Newcastle situation, Forster was looking for first-team football, Newcastle couldn't give him that when Krul decided to stay there.
Harper (who is going to buy a 37yr old GK??) and Rob Elliot are quite happy to be back up players, Forster wasn't. And as for Pardew saying 'no thanks', the deal with CFC was agreed last summer (2011), all CFC had to do was agree terms with the player, it was out of Newcastle's hands.
Had they wanted to keep him they would have had to pay CFC compensation as would any other team that tried to sign him, no matter what their offer to Newcastle was.
CFC held all the aces, Newcastle/Pardew were removed from the equation as soon as they agreed the £2 million fee with CFC.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed I don't know who posted the post above as he conveniently forgot to leave his name. However I love it when u kill people of with your fantastic football knowledge. By the way it was me who started this thread about Forster & Boruc. Ian L {Ed007's Note - Everyone is entitled to their opinion Ian and to post and debate it, but there is a difference between an opinion and a fact.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ive watched the hoops for nearly 50 years and i love all the players in hoops but forster IS the best keeper i have seen amen

Agree0 Disagree0

Names mk1. If forster was celtics absolute first choice and they obviously had the option on him y was it not sewn up at the of the season. y did it drag on. y did they look at several options then when wage demands got in the way sign forster.
also i never said anyone would sign harper. i said pardew was happy to stick with him rather than give FF a chance or a squad number in 2011 so it wasnt out of newcastles hands then. if they wanted him they would not of said go on loan and please sign which is, in my opinion what they done when they agreed the 2m deal at the time of the loan. we had the option all along but if a epl side believed in him the compo is not an issue. mick ashley loses 2mill runnin for the bus
And with regards to england. not the last squad but the 3 before keepers have pulled out or cancelled to get married for example or with a broken finger. valid reasons but dont think FF will ever play for england any time soon. my opinion is that they put him in the squad to fire up and buck up ruddy and gilks etc to say get ur priorities right. just my opinion but how dare u say FF is better than boruc or bonner. Celtic reviewed their options in summer and when all else failed signed forster. if 1 of the otjer targets agreed terms then theres a atrong possibility FF would be playin elsewhere. dont get me wrong. he played well for a few games. but cast ur mind back to last season. 4/5 games dont make a great keeper. 4/5 seasons does. {Ed007's Note - It wasn't sewn up because of agent fees and the fact Forster's agent wanted a £4 million release clause in the contract. As for Harper your actual words were

' forster is good but will never play for england and if he was the business the steve harper would of been sold by newcastle.'

That sounds like someone would need to buy him to me, wouldn't you agree? Mike Ashley might drop £2 million running for the bus but it would hit him on the back of the head on the way down, you don't become as rich as him by being flippant with money and NUFC fans would tell you all day long how he is a bad owner for not spending money.

The £2 million fee was only agreed with CFC, the price to another EPL team was £5 million then they would still have needed to pay to buy out CFC's option on the player.

What GK options did CFC review during the summer? Forster was always NL's first choice. I have been through this a hundred times if you use the search function. I never mentioned anything about his ability (as I said, that's just opinion) but when I cast my mind back to last season did he not break the SPL shut-out record and win the league as well as gain European experience, so what is your point there?

The way I look at it, the fee from Southampton for Hooiveld covered the Forster fee and I would bet you my last £ that we make money off of him in a few years.}

Agree0 Disagree0

To Dd to last post. i seem to remember a huge section round me asking y zaluska wasnt gettin a game cos ff was hopeless. 6'8 and caught about 4 cross balls all last season. came out flappin most of the time but he has improved that and is a good goalkeeper but certainly not even ranking with the greats.
Mk1 over and out

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree. we will make money on him. i agree he is a good keeper and i agree he was superb last night. i agree i was wrong last year about him.
i dont agree celtic done anythin special to get him for 2 m. if any other team came in and offered what we did it would be 2 mill. fact is after a few shut outs that went up. i think im right in saying he had a load of shut outs but done it making fewer saves than keepers of previous seasons as the defence were very good and up against guff not seen for many a year in the league and the standard is still dropping. check saves per game to other keepers. i may be wrong but i yhink im
right.
did they not have the croatian guy over and couldnt agree terms in the summer so then we signed forster. im pretty sure thats how it went. wages an issue so lets sign forster. yep!

Agree0 Disagree0

FF has come on so much in the last year and has developed into a top keeper. He's got a long way to go to match Boruc who was always producing world class performances at CL & National level.

Ed keep up the good work as usual.

Richybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Great reading through the posts. Ed you knocked Mk1 out with nothing but sheer knowledge - loving it. Anyway, all in all though, FF is a great keeper, and I think I speak for everyone that he has done us all proud, and we are just glad to have the big man in between the sticks regardless of greatest keeper in a celtic top or not.

Bring on Benfica and Spartak, In Lennon We Trust - Hail Hail.

Seamus

Agree0 Disagree0

Boruc was a great celtic goalkeeper, if I'm honest I think he made to many high profile blunders at Celtic. FF is a true pro. Boruc could have been world class if he was just a bit more dedicated. Ian L

Agree0 Disagree0

I would be willing to bet my last pound that Fraser Forster plays for England against Sweden this week. As for being the greatest we will wait and see but he has time on his side and seems to have the right attitude to succeed. Hail Hail

Love the site love Mrs E and JehdiKnight etc. All long time posters. Great result and great scalp but in reality just 3 points. We have not qualified yet. I pthink the victory needs to be tempered with reality. Lets all enjoy the moment and result but lets also really party when we mathematically cant be beaten to qualify. Thats when we party big time. It would be all for nothing if we dont take points from last games and become typical Scottish failures. I believe we will do it and I see that NL has matured enough to make it happen. I asked months ago if we win the CL would we automatically qualify for group stages Ed said yes. After the Barcelona result anything is possible with this squad. I hope we dont sell until the summer but pragmatically we will. Ned

Believable10 Unbelievable2

Listen pal we just beat the greatest team that ever was let us enjoy that. Even if we still drop to europa we still skelped barca oh whatta feeling so lighten up,.,.kbarry

Agree0 Disagree0

And it was not just 3 points it was also £800,000 in the bank account.

Agree0 Disagree0

Your a hard man Ned. Lets not be too pragmatic lets instead enjoy the moment. Sopot Celt

Agree0 Disagree0

You have to live in the moment guys. Especially when it comes to football. Heard a guy suggesting us winning ten in a row and another that Lennon may leave to test himself in the premiership, Rangers will win the title again, it's a matter of when. Hopefully not for a looooooonnggg time but football swings and roundabouts. I know we are golden for another 3 years in the league but you just have to enjoy the good times when they come about. Football has a habit of biting you on the arse sometimes and I for one am always preaching to other Celtic boys when they moan about things just now that if you can't be happy as a Celtic fan just now (and I don't just mean after last night) then you never will be. Glasgow Celtic live forever

Greatest match of my lifetime, can't say much more than that. What an atmosphere, just awesome.

So, so, so proud of all the Bhoys. Victor Wanyama, Fraser Forster and Adam Matthews were just superb from start to finish.

My face actually hurts from smiling so much.

Celtic did themselves 2 favours.
Barca now have to go out and win against those chasing Celtic rather than have qualified last night and then rest key players in remaining games. Helps Celtic against Moscow and Benfica if Barca now have to take points off them.

Believable15 Unbelievable2

Unfortunately if barca beat spartak they will be through as top and will rest players v benfica. We need a score draw v benfica otherwise we will probably go into the europa.

What a game! Lennon and his team has made a great club and one we have not seen in many a years. He has shown how to deal with barca as I learned from Lennon that they do not like to use crosses, this is why Lennon gave them the wings. Instead they like to. Bring it in the middle and walk the ball in to the net, it is only when barca is feeling like they are running out of time that they cross the ball more. And instead of it being the Chelsea model that so many has used to beat barce, maybe they will use the Celtic model instead.
Celtic did have fewer chances however out of 3 shots on net(i think) we scored 2, to barca's 23 shots and having 1 goal. We took them to 90+mins again for them to score as we lead for the whole game. Lennon has solved barca, at least this time lol, and maybe because barca is the best in the world that they don't get negative press but I loved watching Celtic play more then barca. Cause they were in our area many a times and never took the shot, instead they passed it for 5mins before shooting wide. This again shows how Celtic and how Lennon beat barca as we let them pass it all they wanted to amount to nothing, so I ask them who play the more boring game, Celtic 3 chances and 2 goals + same great play or barca passing 500 times with 23 shots and only one goal from sO many misses.
On top of it all barca should have had 2 Players sent off, as the ref showed to much respect for them to not give a couple of calls, but we won so dosent matter.
C-Bhoy

Believable10 Unbelievable2

Barca should have had 2 sendings off in anybody's interpretation of the rules. Young Watt pulled down by the last man attacking on front of goal. Disgraceful.
Barca cannot handle high balls. Maestros on grass, with ball at feet useless in air.

Had a tiff with a guy on here the other day about the Green Brigade cos he was obsessed with bringing up a story about a non event in Barcelona which was a nonsense, seemed intent on bad mouthing them.
