Whole sewer about to hit the fan
ANY club that competed in EUROPEAN competition 2001 to 2010 could be dragged into this fiasco these clubs competed under a fraudulent co-efficient that was achieved in the full knowledge of the SFA .
How do they know SFA knew D.Murrays press officer released a statement that the board of directors had FULL DISCLOSURE (C.Ogilvie) must have known and as SFA President should have but did not put a stop to it.
UEFA are very likely to set a very strong precedent in this case because if it is proved it will be the first case of a National Association being implicated in activities of this type.
possible bans for National and club sides would be a possibility as would to a lesser extent the refunding of all prize money fraudulently gained during that period
Campbell Ogilvie just became SFA President last year
You honestly think that will happen? not a chance!!
Ogilivie knew alright but he was not at the SFA. As I've said before I don't know why he has not been fired yet. In Stewart Regan's statement last week he said that Ogilivie was "heavily conflicted" ...surely he should simply be fired ?
Well if this is true it wont make any difference to our national side or club sides as they never get past the pre qualification round for anything so they will really need to think of some other punishment.

Thry must have known the situation at the start of the season but still allowed them to participate in Europe
Utter pish mate
and unconvincing pish
try harder next time
Actually I think the OP has a point.
I think the SFA could be in hot water. Having said that I don't think the described scenario will be the main grounds for it as I think knowing and not only doing nothing about the contracts but keeping them hush hush from other clubs from a mere domestic perspective is bad enough. However, it could well come in to play as it's at the very least ammunition if the situation's poorly dealt with and I'm sure there are plenty of nations in our co-efficient ballpark who'd happily stick their nose in if it meant the possibility getting an extra European place or moving up a pot in the international seedings.
If it's proven men from the top up knowingly allowed Rangers to compete with dodgy contracts then they'll be deemed corrupt and untrustworthy and if it's people from the very top there's a chance UEFA might have to get involved. National associations punish clubs for domestic mishaps, UEFA and FIFA punish associations.
The Sion case provides precedent. Swiss clubs could've been punted from Europe over their failure to dock points from Sion in the league over ineligible players. Failure to punish a club (for a ban the association already lifted domestically and so until UEFA got involved and effectively changed the rules was no grounds for punishment) is in my view hardly comparable to knowingly allowing a club to compete with players on falsified/illegal contracts for not one but possibly several seasons.
The lowest form of punishment would be a minimum of a fine and possibly a ban on clubs involved, i.e. Rangers, irrelevant next season anyway. They might also demand immediate restructuring with sacking for those involved if the SFA don't do it immediately.
However UEFA might wish to temporarily ban the SFA from it's association with UEFA under whatever rules seeing as a National Association needs to be trustworthy. This would mean automatic bans from sides competing in UEFA competitions, i.e. CL, EL and international qualifiers. {Ed001's Note - it must be remembered that UEFA and FIFA have been trying to reduce the power of the Home Nations for years now. They are trying to remove the right of one of the four to hold the vice presidency. Any excuse to weaken them would be seized upon.}
Marseille
Well if this is the case am sure all clubs in Scotland who competed in Europe over that time will sue rangers if they have to give back money as none of these clubs knew about rangers cheating.
hail hail

Have to agree with the bloke who shouted Marseille. That wouldn't have happened if not for the tax dodging, but when Marseille got the title stripped for cheating, they didn't give it to anyone else. The whole French FA wasn't sanctioned, and to my knowledge, neither were the referees associations. just the club. that not right?
