Celtic's interest in Alfred Finnbogason has cooled massively as Neil Lennon wants a goalscorer in this window, and Finnbogason does not want to leave Heerenveen this month. Pursuing several other options which are thought to include a striker from the Premier League. The main news though is that Celtic would like to extend Virgil van Dijk's contract, even though it will have three years to run in the summer.

Just vague rubbish!

@SOS BHOY - From Celtic Underground. Just saying what I've seen.

Finnbogason may still move in this window. Heerenveen are in a dire state financially and may not be able to resist 5-6 million offers. i'm sure Celtic are aware of they're situation and have not cooled their interest

@MikeyBhoy88 - If a Premier League club comes in with a big offer I suspect Heerenveen will sell as Finnbogason could go for a knock-down price in the summer as he will only have one year left on his contract and has said he does not want to sign a new deal. Celtic are looking for a quality striker now which is why they are pursuing other options, although Finnbogason was a prime target last summer.

@seamus just saying what I see on this post on Celtic rumours! No wonder people slate u, read between the lines and stop posting what others make up

Agree0 Disagree0

@seamus "If a Premier League club comes in with a big offer I suspect Heerenveen will sell" So basically your saying he'll only leave this window for England. I can't see Finnbogason leaving for anything over £6m as his contract runs out in the summer like you say.

Celtic are more than capable of bidding for him in this window as Lennon has already stated they can spend £6m on a player and are still perusing finnbogason

His agent has also stated his valuation is unrealistic and will probably go for less

I wouldn't touch Finnbogason at that price-the dutch league worries me when it comes to strikers. I don't know how many there has been over the years who have been pretty much one of the top scorers in Holland, but when then move on they struggle big time. For eg, big Sammi was prolific for Herenveen, the lad(Brazilian) that Middlesbrough signed for 11 million, even this season you've got the American striker that Sunderland signed for 5 million - 29 goals or whatever in Holland last year/1 goal in England so far, he also only got one goal in a loan spell for Hull before he moved to Holland. Basically something doesn't add up! Even look at the pedigree of Finnbogason before he moved there. I think we need 2 strikers(obviously different kinds) I quite like Troy Deeney at Watford, I also think Vydra who's on loan at WBA but has been injured might be available at a more reasonable price compared to the 7 million Udinese were quoting teams last year. I think he looks more complete than Finnbogason. I also pray to God we sign a passer for the middle of the park, because I've said on here before it's hard work watching this Celtic team-someone like Mark Noble at West Ham would be ideal, he can play the old fashioned no 8 or the no 10 position. Paul

Paul, Saurez, Bony (Swansea) these 2 have played there trade in holland & are scoring goals in England. Chris30

Samaras was never prolific for herneveen. Finbogasson has stated he is not interested in moving to scottish football and with interest from EPL and europe, you can understand why. We had chance in summer when interest was not so high and opted for Pukki. I 2000% guarantee you, finbogasson will not be at Celtic whether it be january or summer

I would love to see the lad in the hoops to be hoest but I have heard that there is interest in him from down south BUT, mostly I hear its from West Ham. If he wants to score 20 goals a season trying to stave off relegation then let him. Clearly the chance to shine in the champs league, bette yourself and THEN maybe get a move to Enland isn't in his thoughts. Fair play to him either way.

Agree0 Disagree0

Finnbogason has never stated he isn't interested in moving to Scottish football, in fact he said in an interview which he was asked where could you be playing your football in jan or summer he said "England, Germany, Scotland"

MikeyBhoy88

Agree0 Disagree0

@mikey1888 perhaps you are referring to what he said in the summer, but he DID say that recently also his agent stated that his most likely destination would be AS Roma, however he is unlikely to move till end of season. I would love to see him play for us, but it isn't going to happen

Honestly heard loads of good things about him becoming the next big thing, scored a cracking goal against st Mirren . Other than that a haven't seen anything good about him, what is his best position?

Agree0 Disagree0

Think he favours attacking mid behind the strikers, but can play either wing as well? We've never seen enough of the lad to know though, shame cause as you say MB he scored fi that 60+ yard dribble v St Midden last winter then faded in to the abyss again. Bit like Atajic, scores a cracking lob wi the only chance he got against Motherwell then didn't even make the bench following week!

Had a horrendous accident on tour in the states. Never quite made the same heights again. Sounds like a good season long loan option best for him.

wouldnt argue with season long loan but would prefer it to be in Scotland or England just easier to see how there are doing. always look at what happened with that fat person charlie adam.
the injury was a long time ago now was it not, and only to his cheek bone shouldn't really be hampering him.

Agree0 Disagree0

He needs game time, which he's not getting at Celtic. Coventry would probably be a good move for him. Hopefully they'll had a sell on, and first refusal clause.

Agree0 Disagree0

Patick Thistle loan is the chat in the paper today, which I would be more than happy with!

Celtic are set to beat Manchester United to the signing of Sporting Lisbons 19year old Portuguese winger Carlos Mane

Believable19 Unbelievable12

40M Euro buy-out clause. Hmmmm dubious

Agree0 Disagree0

Not according to a newspaper last month:

The 19-year-old, who has a £1m buy-out clause in his contract, has earned high praise for his performances for the Portuguese club's B-team.

United have sent scouts to watch the player and are pondering a bid when the transfer windows reopens in January, according to a newspaper.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's £30m HB, I'm pretty certain of that but I'd be happy to be wrong and for us to sign this guy
