67 Hail Hail reporting claims in the Sun that Lennon has been given assurances by the board that his job is safe.

Lennon’s progress will be reviewed in the New Year.

The rumour is the Celtic board are looking at Paul Lambert if they sack Lenny.
He wouldn’t be anywhere near the top of my list.
Looks like another cheap option.

I think we need a new owner ASAP.

07 Dec 2020 19:02:45
Lambert is currently the manager of Ipswich Town.
I don’t think any fans will get excited if this rumour becomes a reality.

07 Dec 2020 19:06:34
They're going to have to think about season ticket sales next season. I think they'll struggle anyway assuming we don't win the league, so they're going to have to do something special. Whether or not they do is a different story. Also looks like we're going to lose a lot of players so at least the new man can build his own team.

07 Dec 2020 19:07:04
Has Lambert not said previously that he would never take the job.

09 Dec 2020 02:09:06
We need a manager who will run things his way, will Lawell and Desmond allow this probably not. But it's what is needed.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Dec 2020 14:23:24
So according to reports Lennon has had assurances that his job is same according to reports.
If this is as has been mentioned, a way of letting Lennon complete the treble from last year then everyone on the board and Mr Desmond should remove themselves from our club immediately.
This will prove that its all just a big pals act and the board do not care about the fans as long as the money is rolling in.
We are in for another hammering on Thurs and probably more dropped points on Sunday.
If we do somehow then fluke a win against Hearts, Lennon will have a bigger brass neck lifting the cup than Compper did when he collected his winners medal.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

07 Dec 2020 14:29:20
If he's in charge for Sunday, we should protest by not logging into the season pass. Watch an illegal stream if you want, but don't watch via the season pass. Won't hurt them financially, but they'll see the numbers are way down.

TBH, if he's in charge on Thursday, I hope we get absolutely pumped by Lille.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Dec 2020 14:45:01
They probably haven’t looked to see what numbers the season pass gets.
The money is already in the bank.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Dec 2020 15:01:49
I'm finished watching until change is made, grandkids can forget their kits and trackies this Christmas too.
We are being ignored and made fools of, the only people hurting here are the ones who actually put money into the club and the ones making fools of us are being paid millions a year for doing so.

I've definitely decided not to renew next season unless I'm overwhelmed by the new manager, or we somehow win the league with Jack Ross in charge.

I have a complete set of home programs for 9IAR and was up to date with ten until the Sevconian game. I haven't bothered since then, and don't intend on spending anymore money unless there's change. No doubt Sky will dingy us again in favour of a Sevconian home match, and I won't be spending any money on PPV.

07 Dec 2020 16:42:54
Sevco will batter us on the 2nd and that will win the league.

67 Hail Hail just saying he's been given assurances by the board today according to the S*n.

That's a disaster and absolute proof that they don't care about the fan's opinions or the ten.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Dec 2020 14:17:16
They are thriving in their own wee, crumbling world in the absence of supporters; however, on saying that many supporters will tell you that the lack of people in attendance to voice their opinions and concerns at matches doesn't really matter, as the fans have always been treated with contempt by Lawell.

I actually had a picture in my head of Lawwell standing like Denethor in LOTR Return of the King, when he is on the table with Boramer (Lennon) lying at his feet and everything is getting destroyed around about him.
He would rather destroy the whole thing along with himself instead of giving in.

so has lenny done the decent thing and resinged. neil if you love the club as much as we all do then do the decent thing and go that way u will still be a celtic legend do you want to be known as the manager who cost us 10iar.

Eff resigning he should be sacked we are a mess and he isn't fixing it.

07 Dec 2020 10:20:21
Can't believe it's 10:15 the next day and the board hasn't either taken action or publicly backed Lennon. It's now 1 win in 9. That's a worse stat than 2 in 12.

Lennon won't resign because he'll get a pay off if he's sacked. To me, he looks a broken man on the touchline and is desperate for the sack so he gets the payoff. The board is sitting there hoping he'll resign so they don't need to pay him.

I spotted the Kennedy shrug in real-time and that's a man who just doesn't care about the situation, and isn't interested in helping the manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Dec 2020 11:14:31
It’s the first time Celtic have went 5 games without a win in 23 years.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Dec 2020 11:43:29
It is amazing how Lennon and Kennedy are still in their jobs where it's by walking out or the sack but truly amazing both are still there . Is it pig headedness by the board thinking not to bow to fan pressure I am not sure but its just making a mockery of the club and lowering our reputation for a well run club.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - We haven't been a well run Club for years now, Tony but the board and the fans were happy with us dominating Scottish football and putting more importance on winning diddy trophies like the League Cup than really taking the Club forward.
The league should always be the priority but after that qualification for the CL should be a must and players brought in to do that. We should be seeing an improvement in the squad after every transfer window and the players improving with the right coaches in place, I'd even put getting more out of our academy above the domestic cups.}

07 Dec 2020 12:39:37
Winning the league this season could possibly gain us automatic entry next season into the CL so the board's reluctance to make changes could cost them millions if we fail to overhaul Rangers. It would make things so much better too as we'll more time to do our transfer business and bed them in for Europe, attract better quality players, it may convince wantaway players to stay, a longer rest period before next season starting, all of which will be massive after this season particularly after the revenue lost this year so the board are gambling massively on Lennon when he's showing nothing but regression at an alarming rate.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The winners of the league this year still need to play 2 qualifying rounds for the 21/22 CL Group Stages and 2nd place will need to play 3.}

07 Dec 2020 13:24:48
I agree Ed the thing that I am weary of is If we don't win the next Sevco game I can't see them dropping many points to other teams in this league and therefore I can't see us getting 10 and if the board keeps Lenny in charge for that game say goodbye to the 10 And I would not blame Lenny for that but the board would have to be accountable for mismanagement.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I've been saying for years that Lawwell was past his sell by date, DD has some big decisions to make this coming summer regardless of who wins the league.}

07 Dec 2020 14:12:55
I don't know if I'm in the minority or majority but after this season I'd like to see the club have a longer term project to make us more equipped for European football. We've been beaten by too many teams with similar or smaller budgets in recent seasons. I've not given up on this year's title altogether but I'm starting to let one eye wander to where we go from here.

{Ed007's Note - Sounds good to me 👍

It would help if we brought new players in for pre-season training in the lead up to the qualifiers.
Instead of waiting to see what European competition we have qualified for first.
Celtic have always been slow starters for this reason and we don’t normally hit top form until about the November time.
It’s just not happened this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Dec 2020 15:09:56
The league cup should be used to give some fringe and youth players 1st team experience however the demand for trebles has meant this has been neglected
Our football model is terrible and a good bunch of youth players are seeing their path to 1st team become more difficult.
A total overhaul is required. Looking across europe ex players seem to be involved in recruitment.
Not sure if this is a role someone like mcnamara could take over for celtic or if hed be looking at self interest.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Dec 2020 16:28:33
Totally agree Buzz Bomb. Although every season when we get papped out the qualifiers I do argue that the players are the same ones who won a domestic Treble and qualified for the knockout stages of European competition. Our lack of CL football and EL campaign this season could well be the difference between the next Edouard choosing us or another club. We should have ambitions to get towards the level of an Ajax or Salzburg. I think after the 10 is decided either way the fans would be willing to accept a longer term project if it was geared towards better results in Europe.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Dec 2020 00:58:08
The league is gone, in truth it was probably done before today but no point dwellng on it now. Give Lennon the cup final and a chance to complete another treble then find some 'mutual agreement' to allow him to leave with a bit of a pay off (I don't expect him to resign when he's due a decent amount, let's be fair he'll never have a job paying this well again) .

There's no rush to make another appointment, its all about planning for next season so just make sure we get it right. Would be nice to win the Scottish Cup as last thing I want is to see them do a treble. Finishing second is a must too of course.

If we're all honest, this 9iar is poor and distant relation of the 9iar under Jock Stein, there is no comparison between the two. And if we'd managed to do the 10 it would almost devalue what the Lisbon Lions achieved.

Bring on next season, we go again HH.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

07 Dec 2020 08:13:24
No rush to make another appointment Gerry? U do realise that we need to finish second as there are 2 spots for champions league qualification available. At the min we will struggle to get second. Change is needed now to spot more dropped points.

07 Dec 2020 09:16:23
We need to be planning ahead, feckin sick to death of trying to scrape through the qualifiers. Systematic failures that have us where we are now.

07 Dec 2020 10:23:57
The league isn't gone if the board are decisive and remove Lennon today and appoint a genuinely good manager. Kennedy, or John Collins, or Henriuck Larsson aren't the answer.

It's 13 points with an unassailable goal difference, so effectively 14 points. We have two games in hand and three derbies. That's 15 points IF we act now and get in someone competent who can organise a defence and motivate a team with fresh ideas and who has some knowledge of sports science and fitness.

If Lennon is allowed to stay till the cup final, we will be atleast 18 adrift and have lost the cup to Hearts.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Dec 2020 11:47:07
I agree with you Lennonout but I think even when we get a new manager in it's going to take a couple of games to get that side playing like a football team again too many bad habits have got in there.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Dec 2020 13:07:22
You're spot on tony2bhoy, but a decent manager can usually get a reaction in a short space of time even though it'll take a while to properly implement his ideas. anyone who can organise a defence will be an improvement.
these aren't bad players, they just look spent. they haven't looked fit for months. they need a lift and to get the ball moving quicker, and some movement off the ball.
people criticise brown for going sideways, but they're generally isn't a forward pass. Eddie is surrounded by 10 defenders, so either can't get the ball or goes wide and there's no one in the box. it'll also help to play players in the correct positions. don't be shoehorning people in just because of a name. Christie isn't the same out wide. he's a ten.

Lennon needs to go today and the board need to spend the money on a quality manager. jack ross, john collins, even Larsson won't excite the fans (at least not the sensible ones) and then they run the risk of an empty stadium next year.
I remember Rodgers said he gave the players a dossier each week on the guy they were likely to be up against. Lennon says he doesn't even do match analysis .

07 Dec 2020 16:26:29
All we need from a new manager is some organisation and some basic tactics. I'd be fine with grinding out 1-0s or 2-1s until we go to Poundland, and hopefully, come away with a draw. We can start to think about attractive football improvements after that. Just get some organisation and effort into the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Dec 2020 17:45:46
We need a win there IF we have any chance of winning the league So strange saying this at the start of December but that is how far we have fallen the longer it takes to get a new manager in the less chance IF we have one at all of regaining the title sadly enough.

Get a grip of yourselfs yous are acting like the Sevconians have already stopped 10iar, the league is still there to be won, we are celtic supporters faithful through and through, we should be getting behind our team, yes results haven't been good enough but as things stand 10iar is still in our hands, Sevconians to collapse after winter break as they do. 🏆🏆🇮🇪🍀.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

07 Dec 2020 08:18:56
10 in a row is not in our hands anymore we need Rangers to slip up a few times and the way they are playing that doesn't seem likely.

07 Dec 2020 09:39:20
The league is only just in our own hands because if we win all our games we will win the league by at least 2 points.
As the weeks go by without direction and change our prospects of winning the league evaporate.
By the time a new manager comes in it will be out of our own hands. Shambles.

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Dec 2020 10:40:14
We have 2 games in hand even if we beat sevco twice we will still be 2pts behind, the league isn't in our own hands now we need sevco to slip up and draw one game but there goal difference is far better than ours so the league is in sevcos hands we need them to lose both games to us and another and us to win every game from now till the season ends, that's not looking likely tbh. We can't get two wins in a row never mind 24 or whatever it is till the end of the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

We’ve still to play Sevco 3 times which is 9 points.
If we win all our games Celtic will win the league.
It’s still currently in our own hands but probably not for long.
