Wonder what the reason for Lenny removing McCourt from champions league squad? More baffling is what's the point of leaving his spot free? Surely Rogic should of been named at least, seems like a no brainer to me or am I missing something to the reason behind this?. . Stevie {Ed007's Note - The loan window in England opens next week. Teams from The Championship (and below) can take players on loan. Leeds still have an interest in Paddy and as always Ian Holloway would take him. I am not 100% sure whether he could move to the MLS before their season starts.}

Simply because the guy is rank rotten, he's had 2 good moves, a run vs Falkirk and one v st mirren, 2 goals, the rest of the time, rotten

Paddy is the worst on the team! He should be no where near the team let alone the cl. Few moves in 1 in 15 games and being Irish shouldn't mean you make the club. Nl has built a club of much higher standards then paddy and should have been gone years ago. Instead of question nl as to why he is not on the list you should say thank you for keeping him around

Agree2 Disagree1

Can't believe the abuse McCourt gets from some of you guy's, he's the one player we have who can unlock a defence, to say he's got no ability is just ridiculous, will admit that he spends too much time injured but when he's fit it's not his fault that he doesn't get a game, think he will probably leave the club soon but I will be sad to see him go.

Agree2 Disagree0

I didn't think he was a good signing in the first place and it gives me no pleasure to say "told you so". I wish Paddy well, he got his chance at the dream and took it as best he could, we all would regardless of our ability.

Agree1 Disagree0

Can't believe someone is defending Paddy, ability to open defence's? I have never known a player to hide the way he doe's when it get's a bit tough, don't disagree that he has the skill but need's to show a bit of heart.

Lennon should play him more, I love Paddy. Derry's Messi. Give him a chance to prove himself I'd say play him more in SPL. We should take more chances with guys not getting a game, it's not like there's any chance of us slipping up and losing the League. FifeBhoy1888

Why leave Mc Courts spot empty is more what i'm trying to find out, we have named a squad with one less player than all the rest, why not throw in Rogics name? nothing to lose. . Stevie

Fifebhoy Have you not seen the post's from some of our fellow supporter's because of the game's we have already lost, Paddy just has not got what it take's to fill a Celtic jersey, he has had chance after chance and has only produced the good's on a couple of occasion's, I have said in an earlier post he doe's not have the heart to pl, ay for us.

Don't think we'll be seeing big Ambrose for a while if Nigeria win African Nations. Would of liked the big man available for Juve. . Stevie

Believable7 Unbelievable0

Why uefa are having cl games when many clubs could potentially lose players involved in the weekends games in africa is beyond me. Another example of their money comes first mentality. andybhoy

Agree1 Disagree0

The timing of african tournament dose clash with our football, but we knew that before singing, good luck to efe

Agree1 Disagree0

If Nigeria win he'll need two weeks for partying and celebrating and interviews/ press conferences.

Agree0 Disagree0

Im looking forward to watching him in the final on Sunday. Good Luck Efe. (see him back on Monday for training, just a question of the month that Monday falls in!)

Agree1 Disagree0

I'm not a fan of internationals running during club time. But if he comes back as an international champion it can only be good for him and in the long run, us.

I'm fed up reading (not on here) about how Celtic players should have in some way refused to play for Scotland tonight WHY?

These International friendlies are not exclusive to Celtic or Scotland?

Granted as Neil Lennon has said, the timing isn't ideal but you have Wayne Rooney etc playing for England and Manchester United are still in the Champions League. I'm quite sure Sir Alex would not like to see Wazza injured with Real Madrid looming!

So what makes our wee cherubs any different and yes, it is annoying picking up an injury at a friendly but so is picking it up at training.

Totally agree, all players should be proud to represent their countries and their clubs and supporters should take pride in their selection, I for one am proud to have our ex manager as the new scotland boss and our captain as the scottish captain, and one of our players scored the winning goal probably some of the supporters who want us to boycott the national team are also up in arms that Hooper was not in the England squad.

Agree1 Disagree0

I do not understand this mentality in Scotland…well I do but I shall keep it to myself.

If you are a professional footballer getting a call up for your Country is a compliment that you are one of the best the Country has produced. Okay Scotland maybe way down the FIFA rankings but
if Scotland is the Country you are eligible to play for then go for it, why not?

You never hear any of the players complaining or refusing to play, not now anyway. We’ve moved on from the days it was a committee picking the players and it not being Celtic players. Some folk are stuck in a time warp, a time warp that suits them

If your interest is only in Club football then that’s fine, everyone is entitled to their own opinion but the players interest is not only in Club football.

How can Broony only be on 30 caps? Apart from the fact that Scotland never qualify for anything, that is.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

Apart from the obvious lack of meaningful games we play compared with other countries he's had injuries which has ruled him out and I also don't think he was that young when he started getting a regular slot. Stevo Dundee

That's amazing compared to an all time celtic great Jimmy Johnstone he only managed 23 caps in fact the full lisbon lion squad won a paltry amount they are as follows :
Ronnie Simpson (5 caps)
Jim Craig (1 cap)
Tommy Gemmell (18 caps)
Bobby Murdoch (12 caps)
Billy Mcneill:
First skipper of a british club to win European Club, Career spanning 18 years
Only 29 caps for scotland.
John Clark (4 caps)
Jimmy Johnstone (23 caps)
William Wallace (7 caps)
Stevie Chalmers (5 caps)
Bertie Auld (3 caps)
Bobby Lennox (10 caps)

Agree0 Disagree0

Because he wears a green and white jersey fact. jimbhoy.

Agree1 Disagree0

There is no doubt that team should have won more caps, particularly Murdoch, but the only players of that era that won over 50 caps were bremner and law. The team that beat England in 67 had 4 lions, more than any other team and it could have been more but jinky and Murdoch were injured. The likes of Colin stein and willie Johnstone got caps in the early 20's and Henderson did not make 30 caps. Clearly more should have been won but there were a lot less games than now. Db

Agree0 Disagree0

All legends. But you only need to look at 1 players on they're to back up the 1st replies verdict. Jimmy Johnstone the greatest ever footballer to come from Scotland 23 f*cking caps. The prosecution rests.

Today marks the 55th anniversary of the Munich Air Disaster.

6th February 1958 at 3. 05pm the aircraft carrying Manchester United Football team crashed on its third attempt at take off from Munich Airport.

The team Matt Busby had built from the club's successful youth policy seemed destined to dominate football for many years. Such was the power of the Babes that they seemed invincible. The average age of the side which won the Championship in 1955-56 was just 22, the youngest ever to achieve such a feat.

A true footballing tragedy
