Ed can you tell me if James Forrest is in our squad for the jive game read on an earlier post that he is not if not think its a disgrace he gives us an out that no1 apart from big sammi can give! {Ed007's Note - I've already answered this.}

Believable0 Unbelievable8

Can't believe you think they would leave him off, you do know that Lennon holds him at the highest standard right? It's a disgrace for you to think that, the only way he would be off if he is seriously hurt

Agree0 Disagree0

If Celtic get through this round will this still be the squad for the quater final

Do you want us to try and get through this round first before getting ahead of yourself. Mrs M.

Cannot believe some fans wanting Hooper to get call up for Wednesday.
First of all he is NOT a second choice. Give him a cap on merit, NOT because of call offs.
Secondly we have tough CL game coming up, we already have full team away all over the globe and Sammy struggling, we do not need any more injuries.
As for Scottish lads, young Forrest probably needs some game time, maybe Commons but Brown and Charlie need a rest. Timalloy

Believable8 Unbelievable3

Lambert 11 goals in prem, walcott can play there 10 goals in prem, even charlie austin 24 in championship would be considered before hooper, celticbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Aye, I suppose you're right lads. I'd just be pleased for him to be named in the squad in the same way I was pleased for Forster (second choice?). These guys need recognition for there efforts, regardless of which league they play in, but I concede that the timing is wrong for us and that Hooper has bigger fish to fry right now. Weetam1888

I see Sturridge has now been ruled out of the England squad leaving Hodgson with only two recognised fit strikers in Rooney and Wellbeck. Surely a good chance of Hooperman making it into the squad now. weetam1888

Wow can't believe Forrest is not i'm the champions league squad.
Been out with an injury yeah but he, s came back yesterday and showed the pace one the wings we missed.
Would still have him in front of paddy.

List A, Forster zaluska
Matthews lustig Wilson Ambrose mulgrew rogne izaguirre
Brown kayal ledley wanyama mcgeough mcCourt commons
Hooper samaras Miku stokes lassad watt

I think under 21's don't need to be listed in the squad? Ed will know for sure. I might have been playing too much Championship Manager. {Ed007's Note - Forrest is included in the B list which is drawn up from players under the age of 21 who have been trained by the club for an uninterrupted period of two years since their 15th birthday.
The List B players are:

Bahrudin Atajic; Joe Chalmers; James Forrest; Marcus Fraser; Paul George; John Herron and Filip Twardzik

Agree1 Disagree0

He can still play I think because he is homegrown and is under 21

Agree0 Disagree1

Cant understand that mate, I mean what in gods name is mccourt doing in it

celticthomas

Agree0 Disagree0

Remi gershon anyone? Noel

Agree0 Disagree0

Think first reply and Ed covered this. No need for Forrest to be included in A list as he is under 21 and been with club for at least 2 years. What puzzles me more is the absence of both Rami Gershon and Tom Rogic yet Miku is in. Obviously the manager doesn't think either will be available/ready to be anywhere near Juve.

Agree0 Disagree1

Thank you Ed007, can't have our wee Jamsie left out : -) ~ Mrs E

Agree1 Disagree1

Neil Lennon has said that gershon is not fit enough as the tie is only nxt week,
Rogic is not ready either as he hasn't even played an spl or cup game never mind the cl

Agree0 Disagree0

NL says that Gershon picked up an injury in his first training session and has been taking injections since and will not be fit for Juventus. What worries me is that Nigeria are now in the semis of African cup, that means two more games for Ambrose. Will he be back in time? And how will his fitness be?. . . DH

Agree0 Disagree0

He is doubtful as is ham string is playin up again after raith game
FozzY

Agree0 Disagree0

Is the be list allowed to play?
Would personally have lustig and Wilson at centre half with Matthews on the right and izzy on the left for the juve game if efe can't make it, don't particularly like mulgrew and Wilson together at CB, lustig and Wilson are quite quick aswell, {Ed007's Note - Yes the B List players can play, why register them otherwise?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Miku has played well in the European game time he's had and probably deserves another crack should he get picked.

So it would seem football is corrupt on a global scale? I've been very suspicous of any UEFA/FIFA run tournament since japan/korea world cup. If I remember correctly the two hosts beat italy and spain to ensure they both reached the quarter finals and in both games there were decisions that dodgy doesn't begin to describe. Obviously done to maintain local interest in the tournament for as long as possible. Then came porto! we all know what occured in seville but the following year they were out the cl at old trafford at 90 mins. If I remember correctly 5 mins went up on the board, man united were denied a clear foul, porto broke away and scored, whistle! They then went on to win the comp a month before euro 2004 in, wait for it, portugal! who won it? greece of course! just before the olympics in, wait for it, athens. anyone smell a rat? All these events were struggling to sell tickets which has not really been an issue in germany 2006 or either of the euros since. Thierry henrys handball against ireland was the next one for me thus ensuring france went to south africa. You only need to compare the number of African citizens of french origin and those of irish origin to see why that was done. Personally I think our domestic game is pretty clean but next week we play a team with form for it! Will be interesting for sure and todays announcement may be well timed for us. Feel free to tell me if think i'm being paranoid! andybhoy

Believable15 Unbelievable5

Not paranoid mate, I agree with you. I think UEFA would prefer Juve to go through and I just don't trust them. In a perverse way we might hold the key at home. If we can re-enact the amazing atmosphere of the Barca game, the Ref might get a bit nervy and give us an even break as I think most CL refs are swayed by the big clubs names. Over in Italy sadly we will get very little, I think we all know that. . . . green jhedi

Agree0 Disagree1

Where there's betting, there's corruption and unfortunatley nearly every sport is vulnerable it.

Will be interesting to see what comes out of this. When you think its 11 v 11 and the officials involved as well, I would not think one person in the match would be enough to 'swing it' ~ Mrs E

Agree2 Disagree1

Andybhoy - no paranoid just stating what has been and still is going on. Look at Dundeee Utd in the EC - It comes out later that they were cheated out of the chance because of the financial politics. It is not all done blatantly but the little gestures like a nice meal fro the ref and his team before a big match, gifts for the family (reminders of their visit!), all those little hospitality gestures do sway these guys. All of that and then why are the senior people soooooh reluctant to introduce proven goal line etc. technology. They even tried putting an extra man on the goal line and still errors were missed. Nah, rotten to the core the whole lot of them and they do not want to embrace anything that makes it fair and open. In this day and age with so much money and managers jobs at stake we still have it all boiling down to one man's decision and he does not (want?) get the benefit of seeing an event a second time. TinyTim

Agree0 Disagree0

We have the 'paranoid' label copyright at Celtic after a century plus of numerous incidents and conspiracies.
However it is frightening and galling to see this exposed on such a world-wide scale and I agree FIFA/EUFA come under scrutiny.
Personally I don't see us getting past Juventus for footballing reasons as well as any other factors involving a 'fancied' side.
Unlike Barcelona who try to beat you at football - with the odd histrionics - Juve know all the tricks of the trade and more - as well as being not too bad a team.

Jungle Jim

Agree1 Disagree0

The corruption isn't institutional its coming from corrupt Asian betting markets one a game by game basis, you forgot to mention how Fifa organised the Kennedy assassinations

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the key here is there is too much pressure on the referee to make to right decision in a split second. We need some sort of tv replay, to take pressure off the referees.

I think your doing Greece a bit of an injustice, it was incredible that they won Euro 2004.

It is institutional, it's not limited to sport, and it comes from the top down.
Mourinho had his career handed to him on a gold plate. pea

Agree1 Disagree0

Lot of good points, @5 I think it is institutional, goes right down to who is awarded tournaments, I thought england deserved 2018 world cup but didn't get it because they didn't need to spend a lot to stage it. compared with russia and quatar who will need to build stadiums etc. a 1% kickback to fifa on all construction contracts would keep them at the standard to which they have become accustomed! The asian syndicates corrupt sport game by game but its rotten right to the top. andybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Andybhoy are you suggesting in your original post that Seville was fixed for Porto to beat us?
Kevbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Kevbhoy, we didn't get many decisions that night and porto got away with all sorts! can't think of any massive decisions the ref had but its a long time ago, don't think we'd have got a pen though!

Agree0 Disagree0

Remember the amoruso incident when we played Juve, and how many times is a ball kicked out for a shy at kick off? jj

Agree0 Disagree0

To pea, mourinho had his career given to him on a plate?yeah right. is that why INTER had to play BARCA. in the nou camp with 10 men for about an hour, still got through and went on to beat BAYERN. sounds like someone still ain't got over seville. . .

Agree0 Disagree0

I think your conspiracy theory will fall down next year. The next World Cup is Brazil in 2014 with the Olympics in 2016.
There is no way Brazil will win the World Cup, the way they are playing.
Either Argentina or Spain will be the winners.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its not necessarily about who wins it! more to do with raising the profile and public interest in the country that needs it most at the time and ensuring the tournament is a financial success, brazil is sports mad so selling tickets won't be a problem. what I was saying was when portugal and greece needed their people to get very interested they made sure they had a reason to be. andybhoy
