Do not want to put a Dampener on Biton signing, I think he is honest enough in his comments, but a couple of Spanish Jouralists on Telecino Saturday night saying that Athelico might be very interested in making a bid in Jan, hope not!

Atletico Madrid? Because if it's Bilbao that will be a no go. They can't sign players out with the basque region.

{Ed001's Note - Bilbao is Athletic Bilbao, not Atletico.}

I wouldn't mind who we sold as long as we got a proper fee, and most importantly spent the money on proper replacements, which we never do! Lawwell insists every penny is reinvested, but of course when Ki, Wanyama, Hooper etc were sold we replace them with projects. Projects are great, but when you buy them all the time you are going back to the start again, losing experience etc, and relying on novices for the Champions League qualifiers. So on the one hand these projects might bring in a £10 million transfer every so often, but on the other we are losing double that because we are failing in Europe. When we sold Hooper we should have just spent the £5/£6 million on 1 striker, instead of squad player after squad player! Every good team needs a few older heads, and also a few who you can guarantee will do it in the big pressure games. I like Biton, but it's our whole policy that is wrong. The squad is too big, and doesn't have the right balance!

Sorry, - I meant to say I'd like Biton to be a little more aggressive, and use his height/frame a bit more!

Well that's it Delphic. It's a continuous cycle. You can't replace every 6,8,10,12 million pound departure with £1-2m signings and expect progression. Yet we have a scout coming out saying point blank we won't pay more than £2-3m. It just doesn't add up for me. Every penny isn't put back in the side at all. Just another lie.

Not concerned in the slightest about Atletico Madrid bidding for him at all, this isn't the market they browse in so don't expect anything to come of this.

I remember they were also linked with Fraser Forster when they were about to lose Courtois back to Chelsea but nothing came of it. Anyway, Bitton says he's settled here and is enjoying his football, with Sevco about to be most likely promoted (Don't kid yourselves, that's a massive incentive for players to remain here to play in that atmosphere) unless they go bust by the seasons end then there's plenty to stay for with the CL qualifiers as well. I also couldn't see them meeting our asking price which when you gauge his potential for me is over £10M.

Delphic I agree we have looked at players thought they looked good and then played them out of position because we have not bought a played for that position. Then we sell them at a loss. Have too many £2mill players. Too big a squad. Just buy a couple of £5 mill players. It would maybe not cost any more as you are paying less players.

after tonight's debacle I don't imagine Atletico will be attending celtic park anytime soon …. there is no real quality in any position

disappointing but true.
