if the rumour is true that thommo has gone then there is only 1 man to fill his position and lift the whole club break the bank and bring him here...HENRIK LARRSON...

Believable21 Unbelievable7

Would rather Steve Clarke tbh.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Peter Grant would be a good shout out of work after mcleish getting the sack at villa. maccabhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

McNamara would also be a decent replacement.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good call on peter grant thats what i was saying to my pal the smorning, any tim just read his auto bio and youl think the same but gutted for thomo ,but on the other hand shows lenny has put club before freindship which proves he has celtic as top priority and this just puts more faith in the man ,

Agree0 Disagree0

IMO John Hartson should be there guy talks sense. Would be great for the team!

Know that Thommo leaving has been confirmed can you give us a little more info if you have any? As normal people are putting 2+2 together and getting knows what.

Daz the Hoopy {Ed007's Note - Until anything official is said Daz it's not really something I would want to speculate on.}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

No probs ed. You know what it's like when something like this happens? Had four different txts in the past hour or so with four totally different stories.

Daz the Hoopy {Ed007's Note - I know mate, plus we try to stick to football on all of our sites, if you want gossip about people's lives, read your Mrs magazines. The English sites are a nightmare for it with stories about player's/manager's private lives.}

Agree0 Disagree0

To me thomo looked out his depth especially when lenny was banned from the bench. A bit more experience on the bench will help. Get Stevie Clarke asap. hail hail

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe they found out he profited from a Gers EBT,well nearly everyone else has.

Jungle Bhoy.

Agree0 Disagree0

For me Thommo seems to be a mans man and passionate about football. Unfortunately that would have served him well in the 90's but its a wee bit old fashioned for the modern game. He needs to knuckle down and prioritise his football above all else and become a true student of the game. I wish him well and I hope he and CFC can resolve any issues amicably and with no hard feelings. Any gossip should quite rightly be ignored and Thommo should be left to get over losing his dream job, losing some very close friends and getting back to what he seems to love and that is being involved as a coach with the right club and circumstances for him and a future employer. Sopot Celt.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well the rumours are ***************! Unbelievable. Lennons showed some cojones in having to get rid of such a close friend, so much so i doubt it was entirely his decision. Lennon was supposed to meet Alan in Newcastle yesterday but Alan didn't show. Thats why it was 'done over the phone'. However Neil ignored Alans calls for a few days once Alan got wind of the inevitable.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed I do love the site and your chat but saying ur not wanting to speculate on a rumours site is a bit redundant is it not??? {Ed007's Note - We have legal obligations to adhere to and our Google accreditation to consider. Plus this is a football site, if you want to read about people's personal lives I have heard that Hello and OK are good for that kind of stuff.}

im well gutted about the tommo situation nt gonna discuss why not fair on the guy. do you think clarke from liverpool would be in for a shout ed? .....gunner&atim {Ed007's Note - I have no idea, but we could do a lot worse, he is a fantastic coach with a wealth of experience, including European competitions.}

Believable6 Unbelievable1

I hope so. and i hope we dont lose big johan or lenny now
gunner&atim

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed has clarke left liverpool now that king kenny is gone?
Conor67 {Ed007's Note - He offered his resignation the day KD was sacked and is waiting on it being accepted.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Doubt he'd take the step down. EPL club would go for him if he became available.

Heard Alan Thompson has left/been sacked? Hope it's not true you heard anything ed? {Ed007's Note - I have been told that 'Alan Thompson is no longer employed by CFC'.}

Believable6 Unbelievable3

If that's true Ed then your idea of Clarke should happen asap.What happened,do you know?

Jungle Bhoy. {Ed007's Note - From what you know, do you really need to ask?}

Agree0 Disagree0

So Ed are you confirming this info bud?
CB {Ed007's Note - It came out a couple of hours ago but I didn't have anything concrete to confirm it mate. I spoke to someone and he said it is true, I trust his information 99.9%. He is very rarely wrong.}

Assist PL at AVFC ?.....TTTS

Ok cheers for the update mate! : ) {Ed007's Note - No worries.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Now circulating he is away to Villa but maybe people just making assumptions because of Lambert. db

Agree0 Disagree0

Hope he gets a good job in the future guys a legend!
Conor67

Agree0 Disagree0

Is there any truth in the Clarke rumour? {Ed007's Note - What rumour is that?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed you started the rumour about steve clarke now your making out you dont know what folk are talking about **********

{Ed007's Note - I never started any rumour about Clarke, I only suggested that he would be a quality addition to the coaching staff, and that was yesterday for your information. Can you actually read and digest information, or is that a step too far for your cerebral capacity? You really need to get a life or a bird, you come across as just a sad little troll, grow up. There is nothing more pathetic than a jealous twisted little kn*b.}

Agree0 Disagree0

When people are talking about Clarke, is it Steve Clarke we are talking? If this is true then it's a big bonus because he's reguarded as one of the best coaches in the epl. Sad to see Thommo go, cracking guy.

Daz the Hoopy

Agree0 Disagree0

Norwich fan here, there is a feeling that he is on his way to Villa they cant agree on compensation for Paul Lambert and Norwich have thought to have said We'll Keep Ian Culverhouse as either first team coach or Manager and Karsa as well will stay, This is all pure speculation but would make sence from Norwich's point of View, and for what its worth I hope this is true as Culverhouse is the one who did all the training work Lambert stayed in the back ground and very rarely had anything to do with the squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thommo :*(

Agree0 Disagree0

Put him in his place ed well done mate
Conor67 {Ed007's Note - He is a complete and utter plank mate, there is no need for it.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I apologise Ed I fear I caused that bust up with the previous poster over the Clarke rumours. I heard that we maybe in for him and I wondered if you had heard anything. Sorry again mate {Ed007's Note - It wasn't you mate, don't worry about it. I said yesterday on here and on Twatter that I thought he would be a good addition to the staff. There is nothing in it that I know of.}

Agree0 Disagree0

The ones that give cheek always forget to leave their name.......strange?
Conor67

To replace thompson with steve clarke is to me brilliant buisiness. if true this is forward thinking from cfc. hail hail.

Cheers, Ontario Bhoy.

I am the op and i remember the home leg of the ajax game i was on crutches i think it finnished 2 each but watching an ageing cruyf was memorable also the juve game lubo was immense that night . Tulip

Agree0 Disagree0

When I was a boy of 9, I seen Celtic v Leeds in the European Cup semi which we won 2-1.Biggest ever crowd for a European, or indeed a floodlit match of 136000

Agree0 Disagree0

The first time i seen us win against rangers was a midweek cup game malky mackay and di canio scored, that was special as id been to about 5 before that and we were soundly defeated thanks to as we now know the cheating of the shame. i was in barcelona when we put them out the uefa. superb. i was also very lucky to have a ticket for porto final. if only we won

What do you think of Michael Owen joining the bhoys? I would love it but cant see it happening. Also Craig Gordon on a free - why have we not signed him yet?! A lot of good players from EPL without a club do you think any will join us?

Believable2 Unbelievable16

I dont think we will go for owen if im honest.dont think he is what we need.id prefer a big target man.i wouldnt rule out heskey though unless someone beats us to him

Rob Greene is now a free agent after failing to agree terms with west ham. At 32 years old you reckon he must be looking to go somewhere to win trophy's and experience Europe. Time for forster to sign or we start looking elsewhere. Still get 5 good years out of a guy like greene. Got to be worth an enquiry.

Sydney Celt

Believable17 Unbelievable11

We would be better with packie bonner in goals. Would make less mistakes than this guy

Agree0 Disagree0

Be better off with ROBSON Green.Remember his howler in World Cup?

Jungle Bhoy.

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont think he is the answer to be honest. Can be a top shot stopper on his day but makes far too many mistakes and would be 20-30 plus a week. BTW he's like dracula when faced with a cross ball. Boruc, Gordon, Forster, Smithies, Forde, are all keepers i would be happy with although the last 2 are relatively inexperienced. No to Rob Green, Jaaskeleinen, Randolph.

Agree0 Disagree0

Have to agree with the two replies saying no! the guy is guff!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Well what about the best keeper Celtic have had since packie bonner? BORUC. Had some unbelievable howlers in a Celtic top but for the most part was 1st class. The boy has built a career at teams used to being under the cosh in the EPL and has been an England keeper for the last 7 years. If there is a better keeper available on a free let me know.

Sydney Celt

Agree0 Disagree0

I still laugh my head of about PACKIE BONNER vastly over rated along with some of his team mates roy aitken for eg,seen them ever week for years,bonner and aitken gave fat sally about 15 old firm goals for free.

Agree0 Disagree0

I saw smithies a couple of times this year and thought he was the worst goalie id seen dealing with crosses since rab douglas!

Agree0 Disagree0

Boruc did make mistakes but so does the best but green makes far to many the worst being that world cup mistake lol boruc wouldnt have made that

Agree0 Disagree0

Craig Gordon on a free much better than green. Rob green is one of the worst keepers I have ever seen!
Dannybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Rob Green is not for us. the only reason he is anywhere near the england squad is because Paul Robinson and Ben Foster have both in the last 12 months turned England down and those 2 are mince so what does that tell you Steak and Kidney? And you just happened to bypass the argument about his wages! He was on 25-35 grand a week at West Ham. We cant pay a goalkeeper that amount of money its not economical. For that kind of wage it would have to be for a proven goalscorer from a good league or a good international player. Boruc made mistakes domestically later on in his celtic career and once or twice around the same time for poland when his personal life was a mess after his divorce but he never ever once let us down in the Champions League, infact he was magnificent for us at that level every year. He is the most talented goalkeeper we have ever had. no question about it. You are however entitled to your opinion mate. After all we are all singing from the same hymn sheet so to speak. hail hail

Agree0 Disagree0

I would take him in a minute, definitely worth a punt. I also think all these people shouting to bring Boruc back are mad, absolutely mad. Have they forgot that in his final year he was terrible, looked so un interested and put on 2 stone in weight. He was great for us for a long time but he lost his desire at Celtic and treated us with disrespect in his final year. He's gone and as far as i'm concerned move on he's not the answer. Forster, Green or Jaaskelainen and i'll be happy

Gary

Agree0 Disagree0

Rob Green will be a West Brom player as Foster is now back at Birmingham.

Celtic will definitely be seeded in next season’s Champions League qualifiers.

In the unlikely event of the first three rounds going entirely to plan Neil Lennon’s side will face Dinamo Zagreb, Cluj, MSK Zilina, Partisan Belgrade or Helsingborgs for a place in the group stage.

Only Basel and Anderlecht in the champions route have a higher co-efficient than Celtic with the draw starting to emerge on June 25 when the first two qualifying rounds are made.

The first qualifying round will feature just six teams but the second round will feature 34 clubs including potential opponents such as Dinamo Zagreb and Partisan Belgrade.

If the second round draw works out according to the seedings the highest placed club that Celtic could face in the third qualifying round would be Sheriff Tiraspol of Moldova. Maribor, Debrecen, HJK Helsinki and Slask Wroclaw are other potential opponents provided that they come through the second qualifying round unscathed.

The draw for the third qualifying round will take place on July 20 with the matches being played on July 31/August 1 and August 7/8. If successful Celtic will go into the fourth qualifying round draw on August 10.

If Celtic are knocked out at the third qualifying round they will face one qualifying tie for the Europa League, if they lose out in the fourth round of the Champions League they will drop into the group stage of the Europa League.

Motherwell will be in the third round draw of the non-champions section of the draw and will face Dinamo Kiev, Panathinaikos, FC Copenhagen or Fenerbache, if they get through that stage they could then face Sporting Braga or Aiden McGeady’s Spartak Moscow for a place in the group stage
davy

Believable9 Unbelievable1

So does that mean Celtic have to play four ties home and away before playing in the group stages ? I always thought that thay only played three.

Kieran1888

Agree0 Disagree0

They will only have two ties.the qualyfying round and then the playoff round.id take sheriff and then helsingborgs in a perfect scenario

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't care who we meet we will not do much in Europe , Lenny has not got it for CL he is out of his depth , I long for the great nights we had under O'Neill

Agree0 Disagree0

How can you say Lennon is out of his depth in the champions league the Europa group we had last year was easy a CL class and we were far from imbaresed ! A few good signings and our young squad will be a force in Europe for years to come keep the faith big chap and try and put a bit of faith in Lennon

Celtic have been keeping a heavily linked deal on the down low with Hugo Rodallega. It is understood that the ex-Wigan forward who is now a free agent is close to signing and will do so when Lennon returns from holiday.

A deal for Leon Best, who Celtic made a last minute bid for in January, (but did not come off as he had just had a baby and his girlfriend was settled in Newcastle), is also close to coming off. Lennon bracing himself for possible departure of Hooper.

As to the goalkeeping situation. In light of the recent EPL free transfer list, Celtic have went in to talks with Jussi Jaaskelainen and are understood to be the club in the lead to secure his signature.

However, the most shocking bid of all it would seem is a very optimistic one to bring free agent Ronaldinho to Celtic Park. It was thought that the Brazilian would head of to America or China for a big money move. But is open to the idea of a move to the Scottish Champions with the idea of CL football attracting him most. Ronaldinho has also said that his times playing against Celtic for Barcelona at Celtic Park, are among his favourite games he has played in, due to the sheer atmosphere of the stadium and it's fans.

Believable10 Unbelievable32

And they all lived happily ever after.

Well that's the way most fairy tales end!

I was having the rodallega patter but when you started on about leon best and losing hooper i knew for a fact you were talking mince. jaaskelainen is mince and the ronaldinho bit wasnt even worth losing the 2 seconds it took me to read it. It reads like the sports section from the sunday sport. Sure thats not were you got it. Or from an inferior rumours site somewhere. If you really beleive all that then i sympathize.

Bhave said on a number of occasions that SLY will not walk away from the SPL - why? - because it would the biggest PR mistake that they could make.

In these times of The Fairplay Directive, with all sorts of cheating apparently going on in Italy, imagine SLY being asked this question:

What did you do when the SPL faced down cheating and corruption in their league?

Does anyone really believe that SLY would reply - "We withdrew our funding and sided with the wrongdoer"
Blagged from a forum on The Sunday Herald-never looked at it this way.

Paddy Malarkey {Ed007's Note - I've been saying the same for a year mate, any deal guaranteeing any amount of derby matches is illegal under the statutes of the game, especially in a league that operates a split system...Would the Glasgow Cup be classed as a derby match??}

Believable4 Unbelievable2

I think they would reply - Regards cheating etc-We left that to the SFA/SPL. We felt the need to withdraw due to the lack of Commercial value, the spl is a dead duck and we felt the lack of competition made this league a joke and until we see proof of interest from a willing audience who will pay their sky fee, we feel we have no alternative but to withdraw until a worthwhile profit can be made.
