Was just browsing online and came across someone I think would be a decent investment for the future.
Mix Diskerud, Norwegian born American midfielder he plays for Rosenborg in Norway and has had 3 caps for the US national team scoring once.

I'll probably get pelters for it but Celtics player of the year?. Georgios samaras.

I think he has been absolutely incredible for us this season albeit Forster and wanyama have been stand outs, samaras wins it for me.

We all know he, s not a prolific scorer but the amount of effort he puts in to other players performance is second to none. If it wasn't for his goals in the cl then we wouldn't be in this position and yes Forster pulled a blinder in the games aswell and it was a team effort to get to the last 16 but he scored in 5 straight away games so that says it all.
Was reading that he, s on 60 goals since he joined in 2008 which in my opinion is very good considering he, s not a 25 goal a season or out and out poacher.
I feel wanyama has been different class but the last month or 2 he hasn't played as well as he did at the first half of the season and the same would be said for Forster although they have been terrific.
Joe ledley would definetely be uo there aswell as he, s an unsung hero and I do genuinely would love him to be our captain after broony or even vice captain. If not samaras then I would have ledley then wanyama then Forster, but who knows, whoever gets it who deserves it is a worthy hero in my eyes.
What's your guys thoughts?

Can't agree with you about Samaras mate. He's not in my top 3 this season. I also think he's been nowhere near incredible this season or any season. Personally I've got to go for Wanyama or Commons and Matthews as young player. Everybody has their own views but I've got to say nobody has really stood out this season and that makes it more difficult to pick someone. DH

Agree0 Disagree1

Samaras has scored 43 goals for us. Not a ghost return in my book. In my opinion he is one of the laziest players I have seen and only turns it on when he feels like it. It is obvious he is a very talented player, but for me we don't see it enough. If we go solely on domestic performances, I would withhold any award, as I think no player has performed anywhere near to their ability on a regular basis.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree I voted for him on website, in europe sammy has being excellent goals in opening games away from home before group games,. in nou camp played excellent till he had to come off he didn't play when we beat barca imagined if he did he would have run alba &mascerano ragged, some vital goals, scored in moscow & in portugal!thats where you make money in champs league & 1 of the reasons we got there was him, gdunn

Agree0 Disagree0

We saw how good he can be in the CL but he is so inconsistent and lazy in most other games that he infuriates me.
I think it is hard to pick as we have been so mediocre for so long, but over the whole season, Wanyama, Mulgrew, Mathews and Commons have made big contributions.

JJ

Agree0 Disagree0

Has to be Commons for me, he is the only player who brings a spark to the team and has been the most consistent. He is nearly back to the form he first showed!

Agree0 Disagree0

To me it has to be Commons or Ledley, Commons has been consistently good this season and Ledley has never played a bad game and deserves a lot more praise for what he does,

Agree0 Disagree0

1. From about 2008 till 2011 samaras tried when he wanted to, but given a run in the team he, s been incredible from the start of 2012 some of you guys don't see it and just look at him as if he, s the whipping boy or the one to blame when 9/10 its certain defenders that deserve stick.
He, s the only one who knows how to really play in Europe hence why he's always been good in European games?
Yes you could say others are inexperienced and its there first time but to come from such a low mental state and getting slated to turning into our argubaly our best player then that shows massive dedication to a club of our stature.
For me in the last year he, s been different class and yes I also agree commons and ledley have been terrific but taking into account everything samaras has had to take and produce the performances he has is something else.
Remember Lennon saying"he's the type of player that would get you the sack"?
How things have changed and I'll be over the moon if he gets the award.

Agree1 Disagree0

You've got a point! samaras was too me the most important player in europe. scored a few goals and played very well, not giving the ball away and looking too my like he had the most experience. saw a few players who weren't ready for europe. but to me it's wanyama! if you think he's not playing well since the winter then that's wrong, he just scored less but still he was playing outstanding. forster isn't to me because he really was an average spl goalkeeper since his injury.

Agree1 Disagree0

Larsson was incredible as was Jinky, Lubo, Naka, Danny, I could go on. Samaras isn't. DH

Agree0 Disagree0

Did you watch him against st. Mirren? He was diabolical!

Agree0 Disagree0

Mate I agree aswell, wanyama had been incredible as so has ledley, i'm not saying he, w went downhill kos he hasn't scored or anything like he did at the start of this season but I've just seen certain games that wanyama hasn't showed up which have cost us games, like the motherwell game at firpark not long ago, Nicky law was running rings around him and I didn't really see him in the st mirren game at Hampden either although every one of us were rotten that game, those kind of games along with a poor performance doesn't merit a player of the year award,
Izzy had one bad game (cis cup final) but was unbelievable every other game that season which is why he got it, same with mulgrew last season.
Yes, samaras has his bad games but I think he, s showed the most character this season to get it as mentioned in my previous posts.
Wanyama is incredible don't get me wrong this season and I would love it if he stayed.
(dh) you only have to look at the team ", Larsson, lubo, Danny and jinky were in haha so you can't compare samaras to any of them as this current team doesn't have a patch on the players we had of those era's.

Been amazing, him or ledley for me

Agree0 Disagree0

Got to be commons, when he plays we score goals, his goal ratio puts most of our strikers to shame

So Lunny, the SFA compliance officer, has decided to punish Lenny for a swear word. If this had not been caught on a microphone would this charge have been made? At Berwick a few weeks ago, when the TV commentator had to apologise for the chanting of fans of Sevco, the SFA decided no charges were due against the club. So one swear word, in the heat of a game, is deemed as more serious than 90 minutes of profanity included references to child abuse. You despair for this country don't you?. green jhedi

I think its time for neil lennon to move on. My reason for this is,
that neil is a marked man no matter what he does or says is headlined by tv and the press in this country. Rewind a few weeks, sheils at kilmarnock first game game back after an eight game ban has a go at match officials sent to the stand refuses to go kicks a water bottle
and sits on a fence beside the dugout
no banner headline and up to the present no action i'm aware of. Terry
butcher and derek adam in two successive matches had to be pulled apart again no headline and no action as yet, then butcher damaged a dugout at dens park which the home side sued butcher for cost of repair, again no headline or action. Perhaps i'm paranoid, but in all honesty just go neil and stick two fingers up to scottish football and those running the game and to the media. jimbhoy

2nd post. So what your saying is Lennon should run for the hills and stick 2 fingers up to Scottish football just because he is getting this crap time and time again No chance!, he is bigger and better than they bags from the sfa and media, why should he be hounded out the job he wants and loves through them **** them, they can try all the crap they want to put us down but turning a blind eye to the bull s. t from the other mob shows them up for what they really are,, total bags. wee darren

Time for Lennon to go brings celtic in to disrepute time after time. Blew so many big games for us with his nieve tactics and not a patch on Gordon Strachans record. Time to bring back the blessed Martin Oneil a class act.

Agree0 Disagree1

Think your right Lennon does not potray the right image for a club manager he said let's bring back the thunder yet all he brings is empty seats. Martin Oneil is the man to fill stadium again.

Agree0 Disagree1

You know there is a name for people and organisations that target websites and stir the rubbish. Posting negative comments and not leaving any ID. Its not trolling its much worse than that. But then I am just a wee paranoid Scottish guy so what do I know. Sopotcelt

Agree1 Disagree0

Sorry forgot to leave my name rickybhoy this is just my opinion and i'm not a stirrer i'm entitled to my opinion

Agree0 Disagree1

Thanks for the name Rickyboy. If you see any of my posts you will see that far from disagreeing with anyones right to have an opinion I uphold this completely. My opinion is that you are negative and a stirrer. Your opinion is that you think Lennon is no good and want MON back. that's just fine we are both entitled to have an opinion and disagree. After all we both only want what is good for the club and the supporters don't we. Sopotcelt

Agree1 Disagree0

First thing Sopotcelt i'm not negative. I love this club for with a passion and also Neil Lennon. I just hate given them ammunition to decry celtic mate. I think Neil has underachieved domestically and a little nieve tactically. Maybe I have a blind spot when it comes to Mon but when he was hear it my best time ever watching celtic. So please don't call me negative and a stirrer I just want what is best for celtic and this doesn't mean i'm right Rickybhoy

Agree0 Disagree1

Listen to yourself mate. The dark side don't need any ammunition. You are loading the gun and firing the bullets all on your own. I must say I absolutely loved it when MON was here but look at the players he inherited. Henke Stan Lambert to name a few. let's talk about the final in Seville. He picked Valharen who had been out for weeks and came back the week before the final and he had a howler. He Was not match fit and so it was in the final and let at least one of the crosses over for a goal for Porto. He consistently picked big Rab Douglas who IMHO gifted two of the goals with basic mistakes. Celtic were hammered at Ibrokes 5-1 was it?in his first season. We were regularly turned over away from home in Europe and he never changed his tactics or team set up. As I say I loved it when he was around but remember both Jo Venglos and even Wim Jansen sowed the seeds of MON success. NL had no budget no big players and no experience and look what he has done for us and all set against a background of threats intimidation rascism personal attacks and more. Oh and finally MON gifted huge contracts not least to Bobo Balde who sat and took 30k a week for 4 fekkin years and held back the development of the youth set up for years. I like MON he is a charming articulate fellow and has a great sense of humour but really we have to put his performance into perspective. Sopotcelt

Agree1 Disagree0

Will never forget what MON did for our team, restored our pride and gave us a lot trophys and putting the h**s in their place but it was like pulling teeth waiting till the last minute on transfer deadline for him to make a signing. l believe he was at Sunderland for well over a year before he made his first signing. I hope Lennie stays for as long as he wants and John Park stays even longer.

Some of the repliers on here are soakin wet behind the ears, in lenny I trust,. ,. kbarry

Alright guys, how we doing?

If we're to lose some of our stars in the summer who would you want to see brought in?

I think we definitely need to invest at the back.

Two CB's I think are very much in our market are Douglas and Virgil van Dijk.

Douglas is a 6ft 4" 25 yr old Brazilian who has recently received a Dutch passport, therefore doesn't require a work permit. He's at Twente and out of contract in the summer, so he's likely to attract a lot of interest. With no fee surely we can offer decent wages for him.

van Dijk is another 6ft 4" who plays in the Eredivisie for Groningen and being touted at £3m. He's only 21 but has already played regularly in his homeland, as well as featuring for Holland's u21s.

Ed, have you heard anything about these two?

Cheers

HamiltonBhoy {Ed007's Note - Reading, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Rubin Kazan and Ajax have all shown interest in Twente's Douglas in the recent past but Inter would like to take him for defensive cover. Benfica, Everton and Newcastle are interested in van Dijk.
If you are looking at the Dutch market HB, there is an ex-Arsenal youth player called Rhys Murphy, he is playing at Telstar now and CFC have been watching him over the last month or so.}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Good shout re Douglas - however I think he is a bit 'too good' for us already. by that I mean I suspect some big-money clubs will be in for him. Agree re the type of player we need - I like Willy Boly at Auxerre - big CentreBack - (already linked with the Club) and Kalidou Koulibaly at KRC Genk. Koulibaly is 6'5'' CB ex France U21 - came through the system at FC Metz. Can also play holding midfield if needed. I would ALSO (not instead of. ) look to sign the new Wanyama right now. He will be such a loss to the side, that we need a quality replacement before he leaves. I like Kara Mbodj at KRC Genk - 6'4" Senegalese - great athlete - signed from Scandinavia. Previously attracted Wenger, Liverpool etc - but interest was dropped. Doesn't mean he can't do the job at Celtic park. Big, aggressive, athletic holding midfielder. Belgian league for me is a good place to hunt - similar to france (good technical players, but also athletes) but cheaper. Jean-Pierre Laguerre

Agree0 Disagree0

I really like the look of josh mceachran.? (Chelsea) I believe that Chelsea will look to loan him out next season and think this would a great addition to our midfield. Loan with option to buy

Agree0 Disagree0

A friend of mine seems to think celtic are hoping to land van dijk with rogne off as part of the deal. Douglas from what has been said wants off to a top league to make mega bucks. He's a mercenary.

Agree0 Disagree0

Douglas from FC Twente would be an awsome signing and I also like Solvi Ottesen from Copenhagen who is available on a free contract i'm sure we were linked with him a couple of years back.
