Hearing a rumour that Lennon could be away tomorrow not sure how reliable but it comes from someone connected?

I would hope so.

I wouldn’t bet on it. Lennons be sacked every Monday and Thursday since October.
More than likely he’ll be manager next season.

Looks like a fair bit of money going on Kennedy being appointed, not sure whether it would interim or long term. Please tell me the bookies have got it wrong again but absolutely nothing would surprise me.

Dma, absolutely no way can it be acceptable for Kennedy to take that job on. He’s every bit as culpable as lennon. Kennedy was a promising CB in his day before that horrendous injury and fair play to Celtic for keeping him on the payroll all these years but now is time for experience, there’s so much change in the horizon especially in player terms that nothing short of a top experienced man at the helm will do, and that man whoever he be must be allowed his own staff, not guys landed on him. If Kennedy wants to stay and Celtic want him to stay find him a job outwith the dugout.

I have slightly less confidence in Lenny going soon than I did with the garbage about Rafa and Howe and that was zero. He has never taken any responsibility for his disaster. He blames the players, C.V., no fans. Have a look in the mirror Lenny, that guy looking back at you is the problem. You should have left or been removed three months ago. Keeping you is like sticking with 12 in a game of blackjack. It was always going to fail. Not doing the right thing will leave a bad taste for years to come. That's not the players fault, the C.V.'s fault, no fans fault, you and Lawell are the problem and we won't even start to recover until both of you leave.

I mentioned on here during the week that the club have agreed in principle with Davis but Preston weren't happy with how Celtic conducted their business. Celtic tried to do a permanent deal after they had agreed personal terms with the guy.

It's come back to bite the club in the hole now as it's allowed Liverpool to snipe in.

Jon Joe Kenny of Everton is due up on loan for the reminder of the season with an option to buy at the end.

Celtic back to the drawing board with CBs it would appear.

{Ed007's Note - Celtic were entitled to agree personal terms with Davies as he's in the last 6 months of his contract. Players representatives agree personal terms with clubs all the time before there is any contact with the player, the process should be along the lines of:
Clubs will typically informally ask an agent (a) if the player is going to be available, and (b) would the player consider a move to the club. There may be some broad discussion on the sort of deal that would be offered but no more than that. If the answer is yes, it is then necessary for the club to approach the player's club to ask if they would be willing to sell and if they would grant permission to speak to a player's agent formally about a transfer and possibly even the player about actually making a move. This will typically involve either broadly (through an offer) or actually agreeing a fee and responsibility for any significant costs (agents fees etc.). Once this has happened the club will be able to speak to the player's agent and perhaps the player himself to look at the package that will be involved. Many players are looked at and discussed at a high-level with agents and clubs; a subset of those have an offer placed; a subset of those involve discussions with the player's club; a subset of those involve discussions over terms, and; a subset of those go ahead.}

Mail Online (for what they're worth) confirming the lad JonJoe Kenny has finalised a loan deal from Everton until the end of the season.

The way we're playing I hope he's not counting on win bonuses.

Celtic stated publicly that they informed Preston that they were talking to Davis. Preston said they didn’t.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Whether they did or didn't they didn't need to.}

31 Jan 2021 21:07:10
My point is someone is lying.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Well it's not me! 😁 And as long as it ain't you it's cool. Let's not get into the amount of footballing lies that have been found it though.}

31 Jan 2021 21:40:57
Ed is 100% right Celtic are well within their rights to approach the player without the clubs consent as they did with the Moussa Dembele deal.

However from the info I was sent Celtic approached Davis without speaking to his parent club, therefore when Celtic had agreed terms and tried to get a permanent deal over the line Preston dug their heels in. All this wasted time allowed for Liverpool to come circling.

In this instance Celtics transfer dealings have left them with egg on their face. I stated before on here Nick Hammond is poor at his job. A guy who was sacked by WBA was put in charge of our transfer dealings ahead of one of our biggest seasons.

Jonjoe Kenny alongside a CB should be done before close of play with the window.

Any names for the CB Daithi94?

If Davis really wanted to sign for us, he would of signed pre-contract by now. I've no doubt Davis would have known about Liverpool interest and entered into talks with us to encourage Liverpool to make their move.

Bit gutted about this one, app Liverpool have got him for 1/ 2 a million, other teams such as Burnley and sheff Utd were looking at him. I haven’t seen him but them teams especially Burnley know good defenders and for the outlay seemed a no brainer. The worst bit I read that we were waiting for today to bid for him, that just smacks of us waiting to see if we could save a couple of hundred grand if no one came in for him.
He could have saved us a good few million .
Left sided centre backs are a bit of a rarity especially in our price bracket.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2021 23:08:24
So why was the pre contract not signed?

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2021 20:04:46
Ed you heard anything about jonjo Kenny from Everton rumours he's signed a loan.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - That could have legs, Mally, I'll try and find out what the score is with him. We were very interested in Lewis Gibson from Everton in the summer so we have been scouting Everton's youngsters. Kenny spent a while on loan at Schale 04 in 2019 - playing 34 games for the Germans - but he seems to have stalled a bit since then.}

31 Jan 2021 18:45:43
Is Davies signed for Liverpool?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

31 Jan 2021 19:10:17
Not confirmed as yet JFP but they've apparently offered 2M as well as sending their young Dutch CB, Sepp Van Den Berg, to PNE on loan for the remainder of the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2021 19:14:39
So he hadn't signed any pre contract to join us then.

What half decent player outwith scotland is going to sign for us at present when no one knows who's running the asylum.
We are a complete basket case.

31 Jan 2021 20:16:58
Every time we try to sign a player it takes weeks. Other clubs get these things done in a matter of days. We seem to haggle over every penny and make sure every intricate details benefits the club rather than just agree a price and a wage.
We’ve had since January 1st to talk to Davies if we wanted him. We’ve know the defence needed work, but we wait till the last couple of days, take ages over it and someone comes in a steals him in a matter of hours.
I know I’m making it more simplistic than it is, but look how quickly the Sevconians get dead done. Liverpool will have him signed in a matter of hours.
We really are a sham of a club.
You can guarantee Lennon will see out the season, and I definitely wouldn’t bet against him being here next season.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - We've been talking to Davies agent for weeks and he was in no hurry to leave PNE, the pre-contract is agreed but not signed - there was also talks held with TRIFC, Newcastle and Bournemouth.
If a player chooses somewhere else that's hardly Celtic's fault.}

31 Jan 2021 20:55:24
Fair enough on this one if Davies stalled, but we always take ages to get deals done when other clubs have them done quickly.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Honestly mate it doesn't work like that although it sometimes feels like it does. Most transfers are long drawn out affairs and things can change in the blink of an eye. Without taking a dig at you, Degsy or anyone else but the normal fan in the street has no idea what's involved and to be honest neither did I until I started doing this and learning from people like Ed001 & Ed002 - I was the exact same and just try to pass on what I've learned and found out over the years.}

31 Jan 2021 21:31:14
If PNE know he has agreed terms with us, and Liverpool offer the reported 2 million, of course they would accept, it’s two million or potentially nothing. And it can’t be celtics fault, even if we wanted to spend the 2 million, what player would reject the chance of Liverpool to stay at PNE or join us. We need to be more positive now and build for the future, loan deals make better sense, let the next manager and with any luck DOF choose the players required rather than acquiring a squad of previous choices, especially when signings have been so poor. We think we are only going for these pre contracts as it’s a nominal fee for players with a higher value, business decisions rather than footballing.

31 Jan 2021 18:17:40
I see there are apparently comments from Lennon saying he will try and re loan Duffy, moi and laxalt again next season. The guy must be in a world of his own if he thinks he deserves to be still in charge next season. The thought of both those things happening doesn't bear thinking.

31 Jan 2021 18:55:46

Said it's a big rebuild one he is looking forward to
The 3 loan guys will return to their clubs we haven't spoke to the clubs to see about extending them yet.

Something along those lines.

31 Jan 2021 17:15:39
We can say goodbye to Davies as reports saying Liverpool are wanting him to cover VVD.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Liverpool are pushing to get Aaron Long on loan subject to a little bit of work by a third party and a Work Permit - The Work Permit should not be an issue as it is a loan. They will speak to Long before tonight's match in Florida.
As far as I know and been told there has been no contact between Liverpool and PNE with regards to Ben Davies.}

31 Jan 2021 17:35:56
was just reported during the liverpool game they are after him, ed do you know if the pre contract he's been signed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - And the BBC are now reporting that there's been no contact. No the pre-contract hasn't been signed.}

So I'm a newbie around here. Well in terms of an account but I've been looking at this website for a while.

I was chatting to a guy I know who is a youth coach at Celtic - he does community coaching but also shadows at the youth level for experience. He was saying that the chat is Lennon is going before the seasons out and Kennedy will be moved up to the top job till the end of the season and if he cuts the gap and has the team playing well - he might be given the job full time but on a rolling contract to avoid having to buy him out if he makes a mess of it. Seen as a great coach and well respected by the hierarchy. I think others may have said this but just thought I'd share what I was told.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jan 2021 08:22:14
Regi if Kennedy is such a good coach what has he been doing for the last 4 months?

Agree2 Disagree0

31 Jan 2021 09:59:25
Why would a youth coach be party to the boards plans? He wouldn't. Simple as that. There is no way Kennedy will become manager. That would be a disaster. Having said that, our board have a talent for creating disaster so woukd anybody be surprised? I know I wouldn't.
