Firstly, a big old happy new year to all of the green persuasion, and best wishes to all decent gers fans, may you get everything you wish for in 2013. In the spirit of the New Years honours here are mine.
Manager of the year; Lenny.through all the threats and nonsense he proved himself to be the leader of our club.
Player oty; Tight call between big Vic or Forster with Broony making a late run. For me, Forster.
Game oty; Barca home. The final old firm ran it close, but it was just an unbelievable night
Goal oty; Watt? You need to ask? Most exciting goal since Naka's v Utd.
Young player oty; Tony watt.Although i feel young Dylan might have got it bar his terrible injury.
Special mentions to the Green Brigade for the display against Barca, truly amazing and John park for his unearthing of the gems he finds.Big shout to all the regular posters, Timalloy, Wee Pat, Mrs E, Shammy, kbarry etc for making this such fun with humour and really good threads to follow.Last but in no way least Bond, for keeping things together and outing so many orcs who try to infiltrate our page, well done ED!.............green jhedi {Ed007's Note - Thanks very much mate, and Happy New Year to everybody from all of us Eds, without you guys there wouldn't be theses sites. Happy New Year ed007.Thanks for everything over the year and keep up the good work. Have you seen anyone lately that you think could improve our team?

Hail Hail big chap {Ed007's Note - Thanks very much and Happy New Year to you. What about this guy, Fernando Aristeguieta, 20 y.o. and playing for Caracas in Venezuela:

This video shows his all round skills a bit better:

Believable3 Unbelievable9

Andreas cornelius danish , fc copenhagen, 19 6ft4 quick good in the air , eziquil scarionne 26 argintine at st gallen switzerland c mid playmaker great skills good goalscorer two footed i messed up trying to put up the you tube vids but have look yourself and see what you all think , , , deep river bhoy

He would not get a work permit to come and play in Britian, plus could he adapt to the weather, culture and football in Scotland, I don't think so, but I would give you 8 out of 10 for the out f the box thinking. {Ed007's Note - Young players can get a work permit as an 'exceptional talent'. Look at players like Wanyama, the twins at Man Utd are a couple of examples of it.}

i like this lad, tresor mputu. he nutted a ref a couple of years ago but we all live and learn. regarded as the best player currently playing in africa (for tp mazembe in congo) and has scored something like 120 goals in 200 apps i read on the bbc site. apparently we've looked at him before.

Agree0 Disagree0

There are somethings that should ban you for life, glesga kissing a ref is one wouldnt touch him with with allys bargepole. The venezuelan looks interesting....jimthetim.....

John Guidetti, Dieumerci Mbokani, Charlie Austin, Jerry Mbakogu, Eric Botteghin and Mushaga Bakenga are good young players i'd like to see signed. Really hoping for an experienced bit of quality up top though in a JVoH kind of mould and calibre.

Agree1 Disagree0

I liked the midfielder who set up most of his chances no20 I think.

Agree0 Disagree0

John guidetti will be playing at man city first team next season, but what a striker this guy has

hearing from a good source in Demark that celtic are preparing a £2.5m bid for young Danish striker Nicklas Helenius. He's 6'5 strong, powerfull and young perfect for us.

Believable22 Unbelievable16

He made his debut on 16 May 2010 against HB Køge. He got his first breakthrough in the Aalborg BK Danish Superliga line-up in the fall of 2010, when he scored 4 goals in 4 league matches. However, when AaB loaned Morten "Duncan" Rasmussen for the end of the 2010-11 season, Helenius was out of the line-up again.

Says it all really lol. Raff

Agree0 Disagree0

Think the good source from Denmark must be that top Danish journalist Hans Christian Andersen .........DH

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure what you mean there Raff but Rasmussen would have been a good player for us if Lenny had just given him a chance.

Just because he got dropped for Ras doesnt mean he aint good enough. He is young and you know how some teams prefer experience over talented youth.

He is exactly the big lad we need for the long game when we are having difficulty breaking teams down.

Just think about this for a second, do you think Chelsea or Celtic would have beaten Barca if they had Llorente up front ??

i see a few people posting about ricardo quaresma because he is a free agent. if thats the case i would much rather see juan riquelme who is also a free agent and twice the player quaresma will ever be. I know RQ is 5 years younger but i couldnt see RQ being a hit at all, wasted talent wherever he has been whereas riquelme has proven his class and might just be the "moravcik" we badly need.
Anyway i cant see us going for any of them as they would both be looking in excess of 50k i would imagine..well out of our wage bracket

happy new year everyone

It just personally annoys me the fact the fans give everything to the club and get nothing whatsoever in return.
Raked in millions upon millions and all we ever get is loans or bosmans moat of the time. Its there to see that we need a good experienced playmaker and another quality defender but the names being mentioned (Liam Kelly, Doyle from jobs) is just terrible.

Riquelme could play till he's 50 if he wants, xavi-esque

As we're coming to the end of the year bhoys and ghirls I was thinking of my top 5 highlights of 2012 . 1) Our European campaign . I know people will say the Barcelona win which I can't argue about but from the qualifiers to beating Spartak twice was just a tremendous achievement . 2) Winning the league . From being a barrow load of points behind to going top a year ago and staying there was down to the team and management and not a thing to do with the troubles of the old club from the south side . 3) Winning the last ever Old Firm game ever and doing it in style . 4) The spectacle and noise of the crowd at the Barcelona game . There has been a pathetic attempt to copy it since then but nothing will ever better that night . 5) For a bit of light relief it has to be Bomber Browns speech to the masses outside Ibrox or Glinty Greens Xmas speech..........DH

Believable6 Unbelievable12

1. The final whistle at the Barcelona game, there are no words. 2 -1 winners WOW WOW WOW

2. I enjoyed the St Johnstone 5 - 0 League Cup game :-)

3. Winning the league and by much more than 10 points. Out superiority was highlighted in the last Old Firm game when it was 11 v 11 players and Celtic destroyed Rangers. Oh how they'll miss Allan McGregor

4. I loved the Spartak game, the way we played right until the final whistle and that win away from home. BRILLIANT :-)

5. Just watching Neil Lennon thrive this season away from the hate. His star is shining brightly all over Europe and he deserves it.

Ricardo Queresma would be a great signing and possible if the board wanted it to happen. He would vastly improve are attacking threat in the CL and would not be cup teid. No transfer fee either so we could pay his wages untill the end of the season. He's a quality player and would give juve a run for their money!!

Believable7 Unbelievable13

Over rated, arrogant , voted worst player in serie a in 2008 no thanks, , , , deep river bhoy

Portuguese superstar Ricardo Quaresma has been left out of the Beşiktaş squad after refusing the cash-strapped football club's offer to make a cut in his salary.Cash-strapped Beşiktaş has reached an agreement with Portugal's Ricardo Quaresma on a pay-cut from the superstar footballer's salary. Quaresma and his agent Ahmet Bulut had a meeting with the Istanbul club's executive board members on Sept. 28. Speaking to reporters after the two-hour meeting, Bulut acknowledged that there will be a second meeting next week, but said he had agreed to a salary cut. The former Barcelona, Inter Milan, Chelsea, Sporting and Porto man agreed to a cut of 750, 000 euros from his yearly salary 3.75 million, which is a heavy burden on the financially struggling Super League club.

Maybe this ill make the champ managers out there think again.
Raff

Also read he had a half-time (very) public fall out with his Besiktas manager in (what turned out to be) his last ever appearance - in fact he has had 'issues' with most of his managers including Mourinho at Inter. Never settled anywhere.
Not what we need in a settled dressing room. This guy will cost at least 40k a week (around 2M a year), and is mentioned alongside Brede Hangeland (Fulham captain) in an earlier post as potential signings. Hangeland is 31 years old and will have ZERO resale value. Again on 2M a year salary (plus signing on fees). So for 3-4 years it will cost 6M-10M in wages? On 2 players?
Forget it lads. Those days are gone FOREVER.
Get used to signing YOUNG players - under 25 (we have probably never heard of) and selling them on after 3.5 years max (after getting them on a second improved deal after they have improved on the park). That is our business model. We must get money back in the transfer market.
Or as the post above says, get back on Championship Manager lol..............kbt1978

Gemmell Slams Platini...

Believable9 Unbelievable6

As a senior office bearer of UEFA Platini has let himself down by diminishing the achievements of any European team.
Former allegiances is no excuse.
An unreserved apology is in order. {Ed007's Note - How about sending him to bed with no supper, would that suffice? His position within UEFA does not stop him being allowed an opinion.}

How dare you say juve will walk by celtic mr platini, bad boy

John

Bet he probably didnt . press and all. i like platini and i like juve.

Spoke to a leading journalist last night. Apparently arsenal want victor .
Mullaghduff

Believable5 Unbelievable15

They can have him.....20 million.

It won't take 20M to part us with Big Vic, 12 will probably be enough. Sad as that is.
