Ed any truth in Chelsea putting a 34 million bid in for Dembele its in a couple of papers online.

Aye its all over the tinterweb. Might be something in this, gutted to see him go but 30-40m that's a no brainer. Think about the reinforcements that would buy (provided big pedro doesn't back pocket it)

Dembele + Gordon = Begovic +34m

That would have to be a done deal

Hope to God that's not true and he stays put.
The bhoy is priceless in terms of qualifying for CL next season and building upon what we have.

Whilst I would not like to see him leave, its highly likely he will go in the summer. If this is the case it would be better now to let him go as long as we have a replacement which seems unlikely. Regardless of if and when he goes the club will benefit financially and also in the future. We are now truly highlighted as a fantastic opportunity for exceptional young talent to showcase themselves and develop as long as you perform. This can only benefit the club in the longer term by attracting a higher calibre of player who previously wouldn't even consider playing in the SPFL? Aberdeen and Hearts will also benefit along with the rest of scottish football. I did not include the new club simply as they struggle with the financial side currently.

Reports on a core of pages say he's on his way to London for a medical. Not sure how accurate the source is deal for 34 million if this happens I hope we bring someone in tomorrow night. Saying that I'd be happy to get Roberts signed up.

Why is it likely he will go in the summer? Did the kid not say a while back he wanted a couple seasons with us to develop?

Sorry imo its highly likely, better?

Anyone heard anything regarding Chelsea wanting dembele? Apparently Celtic won't consider a bid lower than 40million. Can't see it myself but it's being reported on sky app 😳😳😳

Crazy money! Would take anything over £25m

Agree3 Disagree6

30 Jan 2017 18:21:48
If they offered that, and that's a big if, we should take it imo, its far too much to knock back. Business is business. We can and could knock it back, but then there's the question of what if he gets injured, loses form badly etc. Got to strike while the irons hot i feel.

30 Jan 2017 18:39:55
"If" we had to sell Gordon and dembele we could make 44million on 2 basically free transfers that crazy money for a Scottish team to make on 2 players!

Agree2 Disagree2

30 Jan 2017 19:14:16
We shouldn't sell. Keep him few more seasons, he keeps improving, market keeps inflating, we get 60m

I get what your saying phil, but its too big a gamble mate.

30 Jan 2017 19:31:12
Apparently they have put in bid of 40 million euros about 34 million pounds will be difficult to turn down but not sure player is intrested

Agree4 Disagree0

30 Jan 2017 20:15:40
Why would an English club bid in euros when both countries are in the UK?

Agree3 Disagree2

30 Jan 2017 20:46:07
Only passing on what's on Celtic news now page think that report came from France so may account for the euros part

30 Jan 2017 20:42:53
If i thought we'd use even half the money of the dembele cash (20m) to put back in to summer transfer kitty I would say sell

But I think we no celtic by now, sell for 40m and buy a replacement for 4m

And the rest put into the pocket of dermo the Desmonds

30 Jan 2017 20:42:00
Ed, you got anything on this mate? Seems to have started with sky but it does make for a crazy story.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I'm not surprised that Chelsea have joined the list of clubs interested in Demebele, it doesn't mean they'll get anywhere as he's not for sale.}

30 Jan 2017 21:16:33
I personally don't want the club to sell him unless he wants to go . I understand 40 million is massive money but we fell incredibly lucky with him. Say we sold him and obviously bought another forward in the summer to replace him, what if he didn't hit the ground running and we miss out on the champions league. That 40 million would then be only be worth 10 million because of lost revenues. If he wants to go, sell him after our qualifiers.

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Jan 2017 21:19:47
If this was early in the window I would maybe entertain it but we would have no chance of getting replacements in at this late stage. Anyway personally think it's a lot of 💩 More the media trying to unsettle us again. hh 🍀

30 Jan 2017 21:29:28
sell for £40m and have it as part of the deal we get him back on an 18 month loan. couldn't see him playing regularly for them with Costa still there

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Jan 2017 21:48:41
I would say that we have Griffiths as a backup but he seems to have taken over Derk Boerrigter's medical bed. He has been out injured quite a few times this season and can't be relied on like he was last season.

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Jan 2017 22:07:44
we would have to take a big offer I'm afraid

it would be crazy business not too.

and perhaps a sell on clause too.

30 Jan 2017 23:09:43
Lots of sense here, on both sides. I think the prevailing notion is that if he wants to go we shouldn't stand in his way so long as that 40M goes the other way. I don't see anything to suggest that he wants to go (credit to him and his manager either way) .

To hold on to a player valued at that kind of money would be a statement of intent, tho, wouldn't it? Notice to Europe's elite that we're coming out next year with the intent to go toe-to-toe.

Is that sort of symbolism worth 40M over the next 5 seasons or so? You better believe it. 'Optics' is the fashionable word these days: but it means that the best young talent and the established pros with thing differently about Celtic Football Club going on. Keep him I say - even if it is no more than a status symbol (and he's so much more than that) .

I'd hate to see him go but 34mill!? Problem we would have is that we realistically can only spend 4-5 million to replace as players costing more than this expect higher wages which would unbalance the squad, however I'd have no problem buying 2 4 Mill strikers in, as I think we need 3 good ones at the club and putting 8 mill in for paddy Roberts. Still leaves 18 mill for the coffers. Now that is great business for a 500k outlay

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2017 10:20:51
We really don't need the money. Yes it will fill the coffers but this bhoy is a massive talent who seems to love wearing our hoops.
Is this what it has come to?
Fans wanting us to sell one of our best players because a team is supposedly willing to spend silly money.
Say we do sell him, that's the bhoy gone and we could spend all the 40mill on players who might not even live up to their price tag

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jan 2017 17:38:38
Tierney bid surely just paper talk? An insult to the club, Moyes is a clown. KT will most likely be in CL group with us this year while Sunderland are pretty safe bet to be battered down to English Championship, even if he was not Celtic through and through, this would be a no brainer.

Got to say that I'd take 4 million for CG in a heartbeat, only trouble being a replacement. Perhaps a bit of a gamble but if we were to get Krul, I'd be well chuffed with that. All in all hoping for a quiet night tomorrow but would love to see Onyekuru in and the Usual suspects out (Efe, Ciftci, Commons in particular).

Surly Not! Dembele to Chelsea? I'm hearing 35mil and Michy Batshuayi on loan for 6months? I would be sick to see this guy leave after only 6 months!

40m they're now saying.

30 Jan 2017 17:28:32
Can we not just let them have Gordon if they promise to leave Moussa alone?

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jan 2017 18:07:56
If true, and followed up, its going to be massive test of resolve for player and club. Im not sure anyone expects, though im sure we hope, moussa is a lifer its just a matter of timing and best value. mind ed being surprised we secured a player of such promise and he doesn't appear to have not enhanced on it. 40m could be a means to provide something special so going by recent success we will expect 10 moussa's to be sourced with maybe a cheeky gordon n pocket the change for the future if the club.

30 Jan 2017 14:47:04
Brendan Rodgers was very bullish on sly sports just now saying that Gordon will be playing for Celtic on Wednesday night. Also looks like we will be sending a few more out on loan with only a slim chance of a new player coming in.

Craig Gordon signing new 4 year deal with Celtic.

Gutted think this is a mistake for us!
Don't rate him half as much as most Celtic fans do.

Looks we are losing nearly a full team over the next 24 hours of the papers are right.

Gordon to Chelsea
Izzy to Leeds
Efe to Hibs
Simunovic to Crystal Palace or Sunderland
Dembele to half the EPL
Commons to Hibs
Sviachenko to Leicester
Tierney to Sunderland

Wishful thinking from the scottish papers Niall Efe and commons and that'll be it but of course it will be an exclusive

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Jan 2017 16:58:35
Mally

That was the point of the post. We are trying to build a squad, not sell one.

With Commons and Efe probably after some kind of pay-off to go 6 months early it will probably be just as expensive to keep them.

Izzy will also be required for cover.

No danger we will sell the others.
