bentdner 1 year loan, joe cole 1 year loan, del piero, and st ledger will all be signed tomorro.

Believable1 Unbelievable12

I seriously hope your right but i doubt it! hail hail

Agree0 Disagree0

Would take them all apart from st ledger-nowhere good enough

Agree0 Disagree0

Seriously! U can just tell wen it's time for bed
Cha67

Agree0 Disagree0

Is it not time you packed in that white lightening? Or are you just celebrating Chico getting a squeeze off the brotherhood?

Agree0 Disagree0

Will be horrified if thats who we sign

Agree0 Disagree0

Another pointless post. Only name with truth behind it is Del Piero, rejected Sion's offer, is after 20k a-week and a deal is still possible. For any of you wondering i am a Celtic fan/Agent (HMK)
Brian W

Agree0 Disagree0

What a load of rubbish.
Why would we waste 150k a week on 4 players, when we would only recoup money on Del Boy's shirt sales ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Bentdner is off to juve, deal confirmed. Joe Cole's wage demands will not allow a move, st ledger is always linked with cfc. Dont know why, he's not that good.

Celtic reject Arsenal bid for powerhouse Victor Wanyama. However the 21yo midfeilder is on his way to Man Utd for medical after £11m bid accepted.

Believable5 Unbelievable17

Dont believe that for a second. 1: we dont need to sell, it would make more sense to wait til next season after hes had champs league exposure and his value increases even more and 2: Why would the lad wana leave when hes just about to get his first taste of champions league football?

Mikey Bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldn't want this as think he,ll grow more with us but couldnt fault the business by pl if fee true (which I doubt ) but is he not cup tied. That's a lot 2 pay for a domestic player all be it 1 with potential
Cha67

Agree0 Disagree0

He would get CL football with man utd as well! But don't believe it anyway.

Briggs

Agree0 Disagree0

Wld he not be cuptied for another teamvin Europe

Agree0 Disagree0

Ferguson has already stated tht his spending is finished this window. {Ed007's Note - I wouldn't read into that too much. I'm not saying anything about Wanyama but Utd are still trying to get someone else in.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Pretty sure he wouldn't b cup tied if we got put in the Europa lge but I'm also pretty sure were not in that hail hail
Cha67

Agree0 Disagree0

He wouldnt get it this season with Man Utd

Mikey Bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

It mentions on man city page that wanyama is going to man utd for 12.5 million

Agree0 Disagree0

Jay Bothroyd on a years loan is at advanced stage I'm hearing.

Believable2 Unbelievable10

Ghod no, he's rank,

He's off to Brighton, Celtic were offered him on loan after last years interest.

Wanyama on way to Man Utd for medical, after £11m bid accepted.

Believable4 Unbelievable15

Not a chance. 11m in January - rip your hand off

Agree0 Disagree0

This cant happen-we'd need to reinvest the lot for another quality midfielder-brown a bit a headless chicken, commons doing a job out right, Ledley and Beram 'made of glass' Kayal still out injured. Is anyone at cp or lennoxtown watching for potentials tomorrow?

Agree0 Disagree0

Get back under ur sevco rock 3rd division big vic is going nowhere same as ur DEAD team

Andybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Ledley made of glass my ass! Ledleys the f*****g man!

Mikey Bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry just realised it was only kayal you reffered to as made of glass. My bad

Connor Wickham deal is 95% complete, can promise that he is booked in for a medical tomorrow. Obviously a fan of the club, no reason to lie. Just thank me later. Also in talks to sign a defender that ISN'T Willy Boly. Desperately trying my hardest to find out the now. Source reckons it could be ANOTHER attempt to get Sean St Ledger or someone else. Will let you's know if i hear more tonight.

Believable4 Unbelievable10

Well leave a name super agent.Garbage........green jhedi

Agree0 Disagree0

What's your name so we can thank you at said time?

Briggs

Agree0 Disagree0

Would actually love Connor wickham at Celtic. I watched a bit of him while at ipswich and think he is a far better player than Rhodes.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rhodes scored more in one match last year than Connor Wickham has since leaving Ipswich. Actually, so did big Chuck Mulgrew.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry, completely forgot to leave my name, very busy even at this time. Can confirm initial suspitions about St Ledger have been thrown out. Not the defender we're in talks with, still no news on a name YET! Apologies, Brian W

Agree0 Disagree0

Who is connor wickham

Agree0 Disagree0

Exactly, who the hell is Connor Wicham??

Italian media sources are claiming Scottish champions Celtic are now favourites to sign legendary former Italian international Alessandro Del Piero.

The 37-year-old striker who scored 27 times in 91 appearances for the Azzurri is currently a free-agent after leaving Serie 'A' title-winners Juventus at the end of last season.

Swiss club Sion had considered themselves in pole position to sign the legendary forward who they wanted to reunite with ex-Milan midfielder and international colleague Gennaro Gattuso. But Del Piero has already rejected their offer.

Sporting Braga and Sydney FC are similarly watching his situation while Tottenham Hotspur have since cooled their interest, leaving the Italian press believing Celtic as his likely destination.

Believable5 Unbelievable7

Neil lennon said today in interview following c/l draw that del piero deal was dead in the water.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2012 21:16:26
What about Tuncay Sanli as a possible signing? Still only 30 years of age and think he could put in a shift for us.

Believable6 Unbelievable6

I watched him play for boro and he showed flashes of brilliance in what was a very poor team with a very poor manager. i think lenny would get the best out of him - good shout. kevslug.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2012 21:21:10
over the moon to be in the champions league. i think at this stage that we should trust Neil Lennon regarding his signing policy. As a hurling coach in Ireland it gives you great pleasure to see a kid pltrain and in turn play for your club. So I think therte is no point in signing someone to please the media. So whatever happens in the next day or so. Just remember that this is just the beginning. Celtic Abu

Hi Guys. I'm hearing that Celtic are looking to conclude a deal with Dundee United for Johnny Russell tomorrow morning. Apparently Celtic have made a bid of £1.8m and £200k in add-ons. Medicals definitely booked for tomorrow, not necessarily for Russell though.

Believable10 Unbelievable5

WE NEED BETTER THAN RUSSELL NO BETTER THAN WE HAVE. another derek riordan.

Agree2 Disagree0

A hope that's true mate, the boy is a cracking prospect and it fits in with our policy of signing gd young players

Agree1 Disagree2

Think the comment about Riordan is really harsh. Everytime i have seen Russell he has looked positive, hardworking and determined. IMO Riordan did have the ability to be a Celtic regular but was very badly let down by his attitude, immaturity and work rate. What does it say about a professional footballer who has a city wide Pub and Club ban? unfortunately another Scottish boy who pi$$ed away his talent.

I would be delighted to welcome Russell to paradise and hope we snatch Templeton from Sevco as well. Now is the time to bring through young Scottish boys.
CBP

Agree0 Disagree0

I really hope so we need a bit of depth up front I'd take him before del piero.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2012 20:05:35
Alright Ed how are you mate? Do you know what was the trouble with the helsingborg fans last night? I got in 15 mins late and missed it. Heard a rumour it was newco fans trying to put some banners over theirs.

Briggs {Ed007's Note - Yeah I heard it was something like that as well but I don't know if that is 100%.}

Believable4 Unbelievable4

30 Aug 2012 18:23:53
Hi Ed, noticing that most of the supposedly celtic targets mentioned on here in the last week or two have either signed for some other club with the remainder being chased by various clubs who do you think realistically we will sign? have you heard anything at all besides from the boly guy...? Goreybhoy {Ed007's Note - There are talks with two CFs, one of them is Russell but CFC, as of just now, won't pay the £2 million asking price. Also a CB (Boly??) and a MF, at a guess and after talking to the English Eds, I think it might possibly be Matty Philips from Blackpool.}

Believable2 Unbelievable3

Is matty phillips not rated about 5/6 million? {Ed007's Note - Wasn't that just the price quoted to Southampton?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Exactly, none if them will sign. Yet your fellow fans have the cheek to say gers fans are deluded. Thanks mate, you've proved a point I was trying to make.

Has anybody any idea as to what ITV have said that seems to have pissed a number of fans and the manager off? Did anyone listen to the draw on ? I thought it was extremely harsh stating that we will never progress regardless of who we draw?
DAMO1888

Believable0 Unbelievable0

They said Bye Bye Celtic, total lack of respect!
CM88

Agree0 Disagree0

Who cares- wee gordon told them straight when previewing the Newcastle game that the Celtic Barcelona game will be the pick of the matches and that the atmosphere will be unbeatable in all of Europe that night at Celtic Park. WGS top man

Agree0 Disagree0

Itv football (verified account), said after the draw was made "bye bye Celtic", because of the group.

They apologiesed kind of by saying its there way of saying we have a hard group, but they never said it about man city's group.

Sent a message back to them surprise I got no reply.

Cumby Bhoy

Ps ed don't knw if u can remember when I was email tam Cowan about his comments made about the thai tims, well my football team has organised a speakers night and he is one of the people speaking, could be interesting lol {Ed007's Note - Yeah I remember that Cumby, tell him who you are.}

Agree0 Disagree0

ITV tweeted in twit land 'bye bye Celtic' when the draw was made...Mrs E

Agree0 Disagree1

They posted bye, bye celtic after the draw then quickly pulled it and apologised.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well even if it is bye bye celtic it will be a nice golden handshake of 15million thank you very much, so we will have the last laugh. Gives us even more incentive to show 'em, underdog is never a bad tag.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2012 20:16:24
Boly and russell set to sign pending medicals early Friday morning :-) pickle

Believable6 Unbelievable7

I reckon Russell will find it tough against the rather huge and athletic defenders of our ucl opponents but will hack it no bother for cfc in the spl. I'd be tempted to offer a cheeky wee bid for mackay steven (even although he's injured) by buying out his contract and a wee bit extra. i think at celtic and the coaching available he'll be every bit as good a player as McGeady was. Think its worth pursuing

Agree1 Disagree0

I see some of the jambos are holding their own against prem opposition-anyone worth a punt there?

Agree0 Disagree0

The only thing i can remember from McGeady was getting celtic 9 million pounds. Have to be honest here very much overrated only my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2012 20:10:13
Ed....I heard from a normally reliable source that Johnny Russell is in Glasgow this evening for talks and a medical at Celtic. Have you heard similar or do you know anything about it?

Hail Hail
ChrisBhoy {Ed007's Note - I've heard it Chris but I don't know if there is any truth in it, sorry.}

Believable5 Unbelievable5

Like i said last night he is off to the championship, not what the hoops are looking for.

Agree0 Disagree1

I like Russell but would really like an experienced striker to mix it up a bit on the big nights. Ian L

Agree0 Disagree0

I really like Russell but he's not the player we're looking for, what we need is a target man who can score with his head. Jorge Molina would be a perfect signing IMO.
CM88

Agree0 Disagree0

Johnny is from Coatbridge, maybe down seein his mammy. By the way his wee brother Mark plays for Utd also and he's amazing. played football with my laddie. 17 years old and a name to look out for.

Italian press placing us as head of the queue for del p. Says he's asking for 20k a week and he knows all about Celtic.
got the lot of the prestigious medals, would add bags of experience, never hear that he is of bad attitude meaning a good pro and will sell strips and reintroduce us to Italian market where we were once the second most popular foreign side in, in terms of jerseys sold.

For these reasons we would have him in a second, what he wants however may be another matter.

Jamie Mac(still doubts it)

Believable7 Unbelievable5

It should be a non-starter. the guy will be 38 when we play our 3rd cl game. am pretty sure he'd be able to hack the spl but surely that's not strengthening the squad. any real ears to the ground on potential signings? I'd take a punt on the laddie Boly and Carlton Cole seeing as big Carrol has gone to whu

Something Lennon said on winning the league last year about being in the shadows of our great managers, but since winning the league he can now stand shoulder to shoulder with them.

Well last night I think his stature at Celtic fc grew a hell of alot more, growing from the fiery wee ginger at the side of the park that the press loved to hate.

To know a manager with a team of young players passionate about his club and the team on the field, Lennon should be proud as its his doing, 4 years of no champions league, last year Europa group stage was good but the next few months are going to live long in my memories.

Remember this wee saying

We are all Neil Lennon

Out of the possible 24 teams we could draw in champions league we have played 15 of them in European competition (since bout 1998) and out of the 15 teams we have managed to beat 11 of them at parkhead with 2 draws and the only 2 we havent beat are Arsenal and Ajax, Although we did win tie on aggregate against ajax).

So Bring it on, We Fear no-one.

Craig levein has left both Scott Brown and kris Commons out of the squad for the WC qualifiers later this month.

Believable8 Unbelievable3

I can't think of any other player for Scotland playin in the cl ? Just coz Scott has na played in the league this season . Commons been on form better than any other scots player ?

Great news for me............green jhedi

Levein is a muppet

Agree1 Disagree0

In a week of good news for the club .... this puts the cherry on the icing as far as I'm concerned ...... CL is a first class CLOWN .

Agree0 Disagree0

Listen guys don't knock Levein. Broonie and commons out of Scotland squad is a great thing for Celtic. They are already in SPL, Scottish cup, league cup and champions league..... We don't need them tired of injured playing for Scotland......

Hi ed. What's the story in Glasgow any news on transfers? Waiting hard to see who we will get. Hail hail Bigirishmac {Ed007's Note - I've not heard of any incomings yet but we have rejected Arsenal's offer for Wanyama.}

Believable2 Unbelievable3

Much was it for? {Ed007's Note - 7 million.}

Agree0 Disagree1

If they put a 1 in front of the 7 they would still be getting a bargain! Sopot Celt

Agree0 Disagree0

Any idea if they'll be back with a decent bid Ed? {Ed007's Note - Unless the player is still pushing for a move I don't think he will leave this window now. If he was to leave I would say that a bid of at least 8million would be the asking the price.}

Delighted for NL after all the nonsense he has had to put up with since he became manager.
Many of us would have chucked it under such vile and bigoted circumstances, but he fought on and turned this squad of talented young men into a CL team.
We are far from the finished article, but if these guys stay together and fulfil their potential, watch us go!
Magnificent atmosphere led by the ubiquitous GB; gave a fitting background to a terrific achievement.
I was nervous of the qualifiers so early in the season, but: Played 4 Won 4 F8 A1 is impeccable Celts.
Over the four games every player peaked at some stage and as the season unfolds - they will become more confident and consistent with every game.
So proud to love The Celtic.

What more does Fraser Forster need to do to get in the England squad! It's an absolute disgrace! Shame on you Hodgson!!

Believable9 Unbelievable7

Personally im delighted he has been overlooked again. the less of our players having the chance to pick up injuries while not playing for the club the better! ...MrCheshington

Agree0 Disagree2

I've got to say I wasn't convinced by him and would have preferred Gordon but he has been immense in Europe this season (proving Ed007 was right). Deserved a call up on recent form but Hodgson obviously follows the Craig Levein method of picking squads, random selection!

Agree0 Disagree1

Look at klos many years ago with the oldco. forster will not get picked while he's up here. neither will hooper.

i always thought ruddy was a good keeper during his loan spell but if he stayed here he would also be nowhere near the team. its a sad fact but in many ways will benefit us in the long run

Agree0 Disagree0

If you know anything about football, then you would have to agree that joe hart is ten times the keeper foster is. He is also playing against top strikers week in and week out, unlike foster. I agree foster is good, but he ain't great

Agree1 Disagree1

Rangers fan here. I personally think Forster is a good keeper but you've got to remember who's ahead of him for England selection. There is Joe Hart (need I say more?) and young Jack Butland who is a cracking young keeper. That is some stiff competition but I also agree with a previous comment, that he and Hooper will never get picked unless they move back down south.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes Joe Hart is alot better than Fraser Forster but Forster deserves to play ahead of Ruddy! Butland is good for his age but i still thinks he needs a couple years!

Give it time hell be there soon

Anyone think Ryan McGowan of Hearts would be a good addition with a sell on value! Gbhoy

Believable8 Unbelievable7

After seeing him play against Liverpool and more than hold his own looks a good prospect ,lets get him on board.

Agree0 Disagree0

I liked the look of him when he played against us in the last 2 seasons. Very versatile player.

Agree1 Disagree0

Interesting one. I have sometimes thought the same - as he has some good attributes. He is athletic, got good size (about 6'1'' - not 6'3'' as i have seen reported!) and reasonable pace. The main thing is his utility - he almost doesn't have a position - has played both full back roles, holding midfield, right midfield and even centre back (not great). If we are looking simply to bring in someone who can cover positions as a squad player - then for me he is a yes. If we are looking to add 2/3 quality players only, then he isn't better than what we have IMO. Aussie international - and they generally produce good physical athletic players, who do well in leagues like england etc, so definitely could be sold on.

Agree1 Disagree0

He's a good player

Since Lennon is looking at signing another winger surely we should be trying to sign templeton rather than humphries. Hearts looking likely to accept as little as £200k for him from Rangers since he is in the last season of his contract. I think the boy would prefer champions league to ramsden cup

Believable7 Unbelievable6

Lets get Templeton in,much better than Humpy

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree. Temp is much better the Humphreys. From what I hear he is a Celtic fan as well even tho his middle name is Cooper, I believe this was because his old man was a rangers fan!

Imagine Forrest on one wing and Temp on the other, teams wouldnt know what to do!

Agree0 Disagree0

I would take him at that price. Always decent against us. Brendan Rodgers was talking him up before the game tonight.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets be honest there is no way hearts are going to sell any player to rangers after the debacle of wallace

Skinnybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Templeton looked sharp against Liverpool (at times) & if a winger is needed I think he is the better option. On current form Commons, Sammi, Forrest are going to take some displacing though & what about Ibrahim?

Agree0 Disagree0

Celtic may just wait and try to pinch him in january on a free

Agree0 Disagree0

If we're looking for a winger ad take mackay-steven he's the best winger in the spl

Agree0 Disagree1

Why are we looking in our own league? Humphry is rubbish. But anyway, if we sign this guy from auxerre and henriksson, then I think well do well. In the past tho our scouts have been great(ki Kayal Izzaguire Wanyama) so I'll trust them on this one

gunniebhoy

Believable6 Unbelievable1

I think 8m is deceptive i don't see Blackburn paying any more than 3 - 3.5m in a definite fee with lots of potential add ons. The breakdown of the financial arrangements would be interesting, any ideas ED007?
CBP {Ed001's Note - 8m + add ons. They had 3.5m, 5m and 6.5m bids rejected already, so I very much doubt it would be less that was accepted!}

Agree0 Disagree0

There's no way we would match anything like that & can't say i'm overly disappointed he's went to Blackburn at that price.

I'm now more interested in seeing how Tony Watt develops now. Mrs E

Agree0 Disagree1

A lot of money for potential when a Berbatov is available for half the price. Good luck to the guy. At least he is going for a fee that celtic would never pay for him, I would have hated to lose him to a bid we could have matched.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm absolutely stunned at this deal. Not only because of Blackburn's well publicised downsizing and strange decisions by the owners but how can a club of their size gamble 8m on an unproven youngster? Rhodes looks a cracking young player but the eisk involved here could finally finish Kean.
