What a frustrating game. calmed them down early, decent possession, and a goal up then izzy goes mental! Start again, get control, score and look comfortable. But the second half was a nightmare. If we are honest they probably should have scored, we were a bit toothless in attack, and have Forster to thank with that brilliant save.

The lack of composure this team show at times is incredible. Fair enough you can't legislate for a mistake like izzy's, but get your game heads on quicker Bhoys. I see a poster on our rumours praising Forrest for midweek and today. Not me. One assist for Sammi and two today look great on paper but does not tell the whole story for me. In 180 minutes he has had 4-5 good minutes, enough for praise? The talent is there, we all know that, but not enough seen of it. yet.

Ledley, as usual, Matthews, Wanyama and Wilson were our best I thought. Forster must get a mention for that save but the rest were quite ineffectual. One last thing, it seems Rogne will be on his way. Shame as there looked to be a good centre back in there, so why play him?I would honestly rather see young Fraser in there. Any time I have seen this kid he has let no one down. I think he needs more regular run outs to send a message to players, there are kids at your back so you need to play being my message! Through though!. green jhedi

I can honestly say as of yet iv no confidence at all that this team will win the cup

Agree1 Disagree0

The second half was very poor from our point of view and I lost count of the terrible first touches of the front players.
I know we are through, but I seriously expect a bit more class from the Bhoys and not so many basic errors causing goals.
Izzy made a boz of it but I do think big Forster dawdles about his area like a dooly when a guy of his size should rule his box; and before you get excited -
I know he comes up with special saves and he kept us in the cup today, but if he would come for more crosses and be more decisive the defenders might not be so hesitant?
Great to see NL sees the same game as the supporters and Stokes and Rogne were rightly hooked for under-performing.
Hope we get back to basics for Juventus and give them a right good game.

@JJ; Get excited mate? I agree with you, it is a major weakness in his game for me. 6ft 6in! anything in the air should be his to a 6-7 yard length from his line. green jhedi

Very harsh on Forrest. Wingers are dependent on supply from their team mates, Which was very poor today. When he had the ball he was nothing short of outstanding, by far Celtics best player. You must remeber the two men he occupies from the opposition, and the outlet his pace provides when under pressure. I for one will be more then happy if he continues this form. Meastro8

Agree1 Disagree0

I agree a
Maestro. I have been critical of Forrest recently but I thought he was by far our best player today.

Joeshmo1888

Agree1 Disagree0

The criticism of izzy is over the top. two bad games out of the last 8

Agree0 Disagree0

Izzy also one of the few to get pass marks in the juve game. leave off. in the end the manager has like wgs learn to turn a game from good to bad.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't know, I just feel that recently (pretty much after the Juve game) there seems to be an air of complacency around the Celtic players, no real urgency in their play. I can understand it to an extent due to the league being merely a formality but still, It's becoming frustrating to watch, especially when you know thet team can perform so much better.

A win today. Nothing fancy, nothing too exciting.
We did enough to get through to the semi-final.
And in knockout cup competitions that's all that matters.

Jamsey Forrest, what a player.

Quack.

Believable9 Unbelievable10

Thought he had a good game today, doing what he is good at.
Tambhoy

Agree1 Disagree1

Quack, I posted the guys who said he was average also the under21 give him a run with them when he has been injured said then they don't know ther erse fae there elbow. Class is permanent form is temporary. AbS

Agree0 Disagree1

To all the clowns suggesting he take a spell in the under 21's, today he conveyed how much you know about him, celtic, and football in general.

Agree1 Disagree1

One of the clowns here that suggested that maybe a wee spell in the u21s would do no harm. He was good in patches today but quiet a lot of the match. the lad has ability but needs to be more consistent. TTTS

Agree0 Disagree1

Decent performance from him today, I've got to say but still drifted out after a good start. I think the guys talking about him going back to u21 football were saying so in regards his attitude rather than ability to be fair. It appears to be poor at times to me.

He's a decent player but appears to some to have ideas above his current level, I don't think that can be argued with. He's set three goals up in two games so statistically that's impressive but I'm often left with the feeling he could have contributed more in games.

Agree0 Disagree1

Ttts I saw your reply to a post a few day's ago with regards to whether us fans thought season ticket sales would be down next year? You said you were getting a season tkt even though you couldn't attend all the games & would give it to a mate when this was the case. Fair play to you mate your a good man, apologies to you & anyone else about the not knowing your arse from your elbow comment if you saw it we are all Celtic supporters & am sure we would all agree our club will be the beneficiaries of the talent imo James Forrest possesses. Hail Hail. AbS

Agree0 Disagree1

Ronaldo what a player, messi what a player, james forrest has potential no doubt but I don't think he warrants a position in the starting 11, not atm anyway

I hope stokes is no where near the team for juve, we need to play as a team and not have someone trying to get all the glory. Stokes has a run and gives up the ball on outside of the box and he complains to hooper and blames him for not making a run when stokes gave up the ball all by himself and wasn't even looking for a pass. So instead of trying to win back the ball that was 4 yards away from him he complains to hooper, then instead of controlling the ball when he had a lot of time from the punt from ff he takes an off balance shot and miss the net when if he brought the ball down he would see Ledley wide open or even hooper at he back post. He did ok but way to selfish to play against juve, I had enough of him always complaining to other players and think he should go and it's a shame cause he has talent just dosent work hard and smart enough

Believable7 Unbelievable11

Maybe we should play mc court in his place?.

Agree0 Disagree1

Have to disagree with you mate, stokes is a goal threat and can also set up goals like young dylans the other night,. ,. kbarry

Agree0 Disagree0

Kross Commons is way more greedier (gloryhunter),. ,. kbarry

Agree0 Disagree0

What the stokes bashers don't seem to understand is, the guys been out injured since last season and has only played at best three games since his return. It takes time to get up to speed after such a long spell out, so please give him a chance to get his sharpness back. jimbhoy.

Agree0 Disagree0

What don't you understand jimbhoy? He dosent play as a team player he wants all the glory and when he messes up he complains that it was the other guys fault. Injury or not he has done this since being here, instead of working to get the ball back he throws his arms up and stops playing to complain to a team mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Stokes has scored 3 and set up about 5 in 5 games since coming back. how is that not team play?

i don't understand why Rogne is starting? he is a liability at the best of times and his distribution is horrendous. I think Kayal should be starting holding midfielder and keep Ambrose at the back, although he is as much of a liability as Rogne.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

I think Ambrose has played his last game at the back, he is more mid player where he can make his moves. Think wanyama takes his place at back if a change is made but play the two beside each other. And kayal has been great and should play every games at one in the game at least, he is looking better and better winning his way in

Agree0 Disagree2

Cant understand why rogne is playing not signing new deal and we have a guy in on loan gershon and he isn't even getting mentioned can anybody explain ed you hink they could be trying gershon oot

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry, but Ambrose is the liability and I have no confidence in him, same as Mowbry, one good game then gone haywire,

I can see a lot of the fans on here that have been slagging off james forrest eating humble pie, I said a couple of days ago that this would be the case and again I am proven right. 2 assists from his supposedly weak or bad crossing ability haha and I can see more to come from this boy so how many slices of the pie do people want, cream any1?

Believable9 Unbelievable4

Its about time he got a bit of praise.
its always about hooper who does nothing. H.

Agree0 Disagree0

2 swallows don't make a summer either. The lad done well just needs to do it week in week out. TTTS

Agree0 Disagree1

To be fair I missed the first half, he was obviously happy with his days work at half time because he was nowhere to be seen in the second.

Agree0 Disagree0

I won't be eating any humble pie. As TTTS says two swallows don't make a summer. When he can consistently beat his man and cross the ball he can get the praise everyone seems too be so happy to heap on him. As it stands, most of the time he needs a lollipop lady to cross the road.

Hope we start really well today - for a change.
A quick goal (or two) would settle any doubts after the Motherwell fiasco; settle us and demoralise St Mirren.
we had a shocker at Fir Park and NL has let them know what's expected - not for the first time this season. Obviously we miss Brown and Mulgrew but we we've been on a good run of form.
It's a strong team, but so was the team that played them at Hampden; so we need to get a grip early.

I think it is time for Celtic football club to speak out and defend themselves and fight for justice as I no longer believe that the relevant authorities have the backbone to do so.
For more than a year now we have had to listen to the ranger's fans, players and ex players play the victim card. They are not the victims in all this, it's the fans, players and ex players of every club that played against these improperly registered players that are the victims. The clubs that played against rangers during these years were playing within the rules and rangers were not. They were not paying the social taxes that they should have been. These rangers' players were being paid 40% more than their counterparts at law abiding clubs, just by not paying taxes. How does this sort of financial doping not give you a competitive advantage, honest teams could possibly offer the same wages that were being paid to rangers players because the honest teams were paying their taxes.
Celtic football club, their supporter's and player's are the biggest victims in all of this. Why would it be wrong to strip titles from ranger's players? What about the Celtic players that were denied the right to win titles and cups because there was not a level playing field. What about the Celtic fans who were denied the right to celebrate title wins because of the financial doping.
How long must we sit back and watch the Newco claim that they are the same club. Liquidation laws do not allow this but the authorities in this country are sitting back and letting it happen.
It is time for Celtic football club to compile a dossier and ask UEFA to look into all of this. I do not care how much this costs the club I would support this action 100%. I fear that if rangers are allowed to continue masquerading as the same club and they get off without any penalties for the financial irregularities the death of Scottish football is upon us.

Believable8 Unbelievable11

Got to agree with you on most thing's, someone need's to take the bull by the horn's and say this is not right, are eufa watching this?. I for one don't want the title's but they should be witheld and the reason why.
Tambhoy

Agree1 Disagree1

Completely agree as does another 60,000 behind me and several million behind them.
Celtic FC need to now be pro active on this. Our club came second our players and fans had it rubbed in our faces, but it was all done outwith the rules. It's monstrous and in the 21st century unbelievable.

Agree0 Disagree0

The problem for me isn't the punishment it is how it is being reported. The headlines were that Rangers were found innocent, no they weren't they were found Guilty. It is being minimalised and spun the same way it was when they were going under for not paying their tax liabilities.
Its the Scottish press that should be accountable, happy to brush it all under the carpet so they can try and get things back to how they used to be. There can be no integrity in a club that cheated and did not admit it by still claiming it did nothing wrong, when it clearly did.

Grant Holt tells Celtic to forget about signing him. Cheers grant, you just took that one of my to do list.

Believable12 Unbelievable1

As Andy Roxburgh would say you can't sit at the table unless your asked.
Sorry not for me strikers at Celtic are much better.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sounds like someone is trying to make it happen by coming out with his comment in MARCH. we don't want u, will never want u. your not good enough for celtic fc. Thanks for your interest grant, but that's where it ends, will see u in championship next season son!

Football anyone? I posted when the draw was being made that I felt Lenny had been a bit silly in asking for St Mirren. I get the revenge motive, but I think there is a weakness in this team now and again.

In the league cup semi St Mirren got in around us and used McGowan very cleverly. They were breaking for a spell in the first half with four men running on to four, that's dangerous. Another early kick off is a problem for me, we never seem to start these games well, because we will have to be on it from the first minute on a tight pitch against a fired up team.

I would give Watt the shout, if fit of course, as he will run their defenders, not the quickest, when they are facing their own goal. I would not start Sammi, still not 100% for me after the murderwell game, but play a tight 4-4-2. Anyone trust Efie? I'm really unsure. Looked so good early but has been erratic since even before Nigerian adventure. Commons is another who has been blowing hot and cold for a while, although he is a threat, maybe were due a turn from him. Forrest? The pitch, same for Sammi, might be too tight for him, Good sub? Lenny rates him highly so I think he will be in. jeeze it's a hard team to pick for a difficult game. Your thought peeps, and of course yours Bond. green jhedi {Ed007's Note - We need someone to step up and play like Brown plays, taking charge of the MF. I would drop Commons, Ambrose and Sammi.
................................Forster......

...................................................................
..............Forrest...........Kayal........McGeouch....

.............................Stokes/Watt...........

I picked that team/formation as I think playing a 4-2-3-1 should be the formation we try to implement next season. There is probably someone suspended or injured but at this time of night I am going for hypothetical lol.}

Believable0 Unbelievable5

Who's maldini? A youth player, haven't herd of him

Agree0 Disagree0

Not a bad line up but beram kayal @ no. 10? get sammy in there instead

Agree0 Disagree1

Maldini in for Ambrose? Is Baresi injured? ;) Daviebhoy77

Agree0 Disagree0

ED007; Does have a nice balance to it but my worry would be the two wide Bhoys. Have they got the discipline to get up and down the whole game? Stokes? I assume that's because if Hooper goes the planning has to start now, a point I agree with. You don't want to be here you miss the big stuff, harsh but that's football. green jhedi

Agree0 Disagree1

My thoughts for what they are worth Sammi and Commons for Mc Geough and Forrest and yes shoot me, stick with big Ambrose. TTTS

Agree0 Disagree0

First of all the balance of the team looks spot on, no players playing out of position.
Secondly, team formations can look as they seem as does yours GJ, it's how other people interpret it?! With no instruction, it looks like Wanyama and Ledley are sitting? If they are? Which I doubt then there's no need for Kayal, Rogic should play there. ?
It's pretty easy to put 5 right across the mid, so I see where your coming from. No more Sammy out left unless need be, at this moment in time Stokes is doing ma nut in but benefit of the doubt, he'll score goals on his day.
