The side contract issue at Rangers has been well known for some time now. Most recently Darrel King claimed to have seen such a contract, The S*n on Sunday published details of a redacted such contract last weekend, and of course Hugh Adam, a former Rangers director has confirmed this to be the case.

It is worth stating that News International Group, which the S*n on Sunday is part of, have been under intense pressure due to the unethical and illegal practices at the News of the World. There is absolutely no chance that they would have printed this story, on the very first issue of the Sun on Sunday, unless they could substantiate what they were reporting.

The whole purpose of a side contract is simple. There is the main contract, and there is a further (usually shorter) contract that is a completely seperate document, which is the side contract. This is done so as the details in the side contract can be hidden from those persons you don't want to see it. If this were not the case, you would simply have everything embodied in the one contract, there is no other genuine reason to have two seperate documents.

There is no doubt that Rangers Directors have chosen to give Rangers players a side contract so as they can hide this from parties they don't want to see it, and effectively mislead these parties.

Rangers have failed to submit the side contracts to the SFA when registering those players that had them and as such Rangers have misled the SFA.

HOWEVER THERE IS AN EVEN MORE SERIOUS ISSUE HERE.

During the course of the EBTs and these side contracts, several Rangers Directors served on the boards of the SFA and SPL. Whilst performing their roles as Directors of the SFA and SPL these Rangers Directors knew that the SFA were receiving contracts from Rangers as part of the registration process and that Rangers had withheld the side contracts.

These Rangers Directors in their SFA and SPL duties have kept quite and not informed the SFA or SPL of this. They have kept quite for the sole purpose of benfiting Rangers football club by allowing them to sign players they otherwise wouldn't have been able to.

This is coruption at the highest level of the game, something that is unequalled in anything that has gone on previously.

If things have been bad at Rangers up until now, then they are going to get one heck of a lot worse.

Believable9 Unbelievable6

Aye here's hoping eh?

Agree0 Disagree0

The SFA are spineless bast8rds who will try to cover this up. They will be praying that Rangers are liquidated so that there will be no conclusion to an in depth investigation.

Shameless.

Agree0 Disagree0

Shameless, even if Rangers do go into liquidation, Campbell Ogilvie is stil at the SFA and was a Rangers Director during all of this.

It needs UEFA however, to investigate this.

The Police shuld also be involved as it is fraud, and SDMpropertly investigated.

Ed, please can you (or anybody else) have a crack at answering this. If rangers are found to have offered fraudulent contacts to players during the 9iar era and beyond , then what is the probable amount of lost revenue to Celtic? We would have won at least 9-10 titles and gained entry into Europe. So how much has rangers cheating cost us over a 15-20 year period financialy and will we sue if found guilty?.....I know its a pain of a question but it's definitely relevant. Thanks in advance....Andy H {Ed007's Note - I have no idea how much revenue or income was lost. Who knows what would have happened if everything had been done properly.}

Believable14 Unbelievable3

Define Done Properly?
Until there is an outcome from the Tax Case there is nothing illegal proven. {Ed007's Note - Are you serious? So why are Rangers in the mess they are just now when the outcome of the tax case isn't known? I suppose we can put Hugh Adams in the same bracket as John Greig now, men that gave their life to Rangers but dismissed as trouble makers for speaking out. Hugh Adams spoke out years ago about what was going on, and what would happen, ten years later he has been proven correct, just like John Greig has been proven correct about Whyte. Give your head a wiggle mate. Or is it all once again a Timmy and Mhedia conspiracy against Rangers?}

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm trying to come up with a ball park figure of what we have lost out on but it is very difficult to get hold of European Cup prize money for the mid 90's and SPL prize money for the same era. But, if you add the prize money and the home gate receipts together then we could be looking at an amount well over 20-30 Million. This, if proven is revenue that has been denied to us by cheating. There must be a case to answer. And not just a punishment to rangers, but a reimbursement to Celtic and any other club who have lost out over the last 15-20 years. Andy H

Agree0 Disagree0

U sad, sad little man.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sad,dont think so ,the cat is out of the bag,the horse has bolted,the milk is spilt,the old apple cart has been well and truly turned over the old pals act is over and the crows have come home to roost(cant think of any more)Suffice to say the jig is up(oops could think of 1 more it seems). Crooks liars and swindlers and thats just the owners

Agree0 Disagree0

We were a poor team during the Rangers 9 in a row years. I can remember coming 3 rd on at least 3 occasions and one year we came 5th. Why would we deserve those title. Learn your history

Agree0 Disagree0

I know my history,tell me did you stop to think, we would not have been so poor if we had spent beyond our means ala Rangers?I really dont care about the titles coming to Celtic, as long as they go to the team that did not CHEAT!

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not saying that we should have every title that rangers won...infact, Hearts,Aberdeen Dundee Utd and Motherwell have all been victims of rangers' financial cheating and that is why i posted my original post..This goes far further than just punishing rangers or rewarding Celtic. So perhaps those that want me to "learn my history" will now understand that it's not just Celtic have suffered financially. Even Ayr Utd have been denied a cup win. There needs to be an investigation from top to bottom and wrongs need to be put right. Who gives a f..k if we were a poor side in the mid 90's we still finished 2nd on a number of occasions.

Agree0 Disagree0

The way we played during the 9IAR period we still wouldn't have won much.Aberdeen and Motherwell were better than us then.

Jungle Bhoy.

Agree0 Disagree0

As andy h said not only celtic but other teams were denied a title coz of the cheats

Good afternoon Ed. What's happening with tax dodgers is unbelievable stuff. Like even the result of the tax case has come out yet and look at the state there in. Mr Hugh Adam statement shows it goes right to the top of Scottish football. The SFA stink of shxte. Did Walter Smith know about these contracts? If found guilty what titles would be strip? What years did this start. I want justice. Bigirishmac {Ed007's Note - It is anyone's guess where this will end up BIM, but it is not looking good for anyone involved.}

Another example of be careful what you wish for If Rangers are convicted in the dual contracts scandal their co-efficient will be expunged from the records meaning a massive drop in rankings and us having no chance in competing in CHAMPIONS LEAGUE this season or any other as other Countries will demand immediate action from UEFA

Believable5 Unbelievable13

If thats the rules we are Celtic and we will play by them

Agree0 Disagree0

If Rangers die as expected we will struggle to get to the champions league again. Why would players like Hooper , Brown , Kayal , Wanyama , Forster come to Paradise if there was no Rangers no big wages and the Europa league. While I am lovin my jelly and ice cream Celtic fans need to wake up ! We need rangers ( hopefully back in the premier in 5 years after starting in the 3rd ).

Agree0 Disagree0

Brown came from hibs didnt need to allure him to spl he was already here.

So it would appear hugh adam's latest quotes firmly switch the searchlights on to campbell ogilvie.If this is proven,the tax case will seem very small fry as this will lead to legal cases for years, from possibly,every SPL club.The stripping of honours won,and prize money gained,is now a very real threat to rangers.I would assume Mr Adam is not working to some perceived"timmy agenda" but is just an honest rangers fan,and ex director,sickened by the years of cheating leading to the sorry state they are in today. hopefully ed007 might know of a previous case like this?.make no mistake,this might lead to a suspension of their licence from the SFA(dont hold your breath!)or UEFA.have a nice evening tonight ed,always a nice event.........green jhedi {Ed007's Note - I can't think of another case ever in football like this one Jhedi, there really is nothing to compare it to. Italian football is the probably the most corrupt and even they have never came close to anything like this.}

Believable15 Unbelievable1

Mr Adam doesnt have a "timmy agenda" against rangers but he does have a major,major problem with David Murray for the way he was sacked in 2002. Got to question Adam's timing? If he knew this years ago why wait till now?

Hi Ed, just in relation to your note below "It is the five man SPL board who decide, not all teams get a vote".

Who are the 5 men who vote? Are they chairman of clubs?

Jamesey Bhoy {Ed007's Note - The current members are Neil Doncaster (SPL Chief Executive), Stewart Robertson (Motherwell FC), Eric Riley (Celtic FC), Stewart Gilmour (St Mirren FC) and Rod Petrie (Hibernian FC). Ralph Topping is the current SPL Chairman, he also sits on the board but only votes when decisions can't be resolved between the others.}

here you go Drew, do you think they may be tainted now?

"Rangers stand accused of failing to properly register players after a former director revealed secretive payments had been consistently excluded from contracts lodged with the SFA".

People didnt want to know about them. There was a lot of that (EBTs) going on at the time (I was there).
You knew it was cheating but some of them not only hoped but believed it was above board.This is from Hugh Adam, ex Rangers director.

I don't think you can ask for a clearer confession of the practices which allowed RFC to gain an unfair advantage in Scotland and in Europe. They should be stripped of all titles gained by playing ineligible players

Believable13 Unbelievable5

And to think we were accused of being paranoid lol should be celtic fc 12-in-a-row if they spineless cowards at the sfa do the right and proper thing.i hope lawell sues the arse off everybody involved for loss of revenue.

Agree0 Disagree0

Where was campbell ogilvie when this was going on.......mmmmmmmm

Agree0 Disagree0

Do no get 75% pay cuts they are still playin players they cant afford is that no wot got them into this mess

Agree0 Disagree0

As usual Celtic fans ignoring the fact that in the 70s and 80s and even maybe the 90s Celtic announced over the tanoy about 25000 less fans than had actually paid to see their team. IS THIS NOT TAX EVASION ? {Ed007's Note - It wouldn't appear to be to HMRC, I am not aware of any tax cases involving CFC.}

Agree0 Disagree0

If titles are to be removed I for 1 would not want them given to any team as all that we would hear is you stole them from Rangers they are tainted. Well let them remain tainted and remove them from the history books so that no one has them.

Ian(For every 1 Celtic spend Rangers will pay their creditors 10p)
