If rumours are true Southampton have submitted an 8 million bid for VVD, Surley he is worth more than that? I was thinking more along the lines of the Wanyama fee we received a few years back?

Victor's performances in UCL group stages and in scoring against Barca probably added to his price.
Failing to qualify last year means Virgil's price doesn't reflect the Champions League boost.

If that's the case why is John Stones valued at North of 30mil and has never even sniffed champions league football? It's time Celtic started getting the fee there players deserve other than a derogatory 8 million bid from a mid table over rated English league team.

The simple reason is because stones has played regularly in the EPL! Yeh he's only played a season or so and the prices they are talkin for him are outrageous! But the fact is VVDs performances in Scotland mean nothing down there! Add to the fact that his performances in Europe have been average at best and 8 maybe 9 million is about as much as we can hope for!

EPL? And? Anyone who knows anything about football know that the EPL overrated, The Bundesliga And La Liga are far more superior than that boring rank rotten EPL. Most people get over excited watching that league all because it is dressed up well from the TV. If John Stones is worth 30 million and VVD is worth 8 or 9 million then football really is dead.

Did u not read the part about stones price being outrageous?? And while u might not want to believe it mate, down south couldn't give a monkeys about our league! And the fact is that VVD is not tested up here! And his performances in Europe have been poor! Wanyama and forrester got big money moves on the back of top performances in the CL! VVD hasn't had that yet! 8-9 million for a player in the SPL is more than fair, even though u mite not want to believe that! And even though I agree that la liga is better than the EPL,the EPL is still a top league with top players in it! Where VVD would be tested every single game!

Everton make tens of millions from TV every year so if a team wants Stones they have a huge advantage in that they can afford not to sell. We make buttons from TV so can't afford to hold out for what we feel is fair. What a player is worth in relation to another player based on football ability is irrelevant when one plays in England and one plays in Scotland. It's chalk and cheese, simple as that. It's a shame.

How long has VVD got left on his contract,do Celtic need to sell him,Celtic should just put a price of £25 million on him before they talk to anyone, and put an end to this nonsense that says that just because a player plays in the EPL,he must be a higher quality player and worth three times the price of a SPL player.

Don't forget stones is a premium to top epl teams more because he is English and that is a requirement for champ league so his price is exaggerated whereas vvd is just a foreigner of which the epl is overloaded with.

The £8million offer will stay on the table until our CL qualifiers are finished, one way or the other. If we get knocked out then I think the offer will be accepted, if we get through to the group stages then there is no need to sell and any team would have to pay £12million if they want him. I don't think CL would be enough to keep him. Even if we qualify I think he'll go. I wouldn't be surprised to see interest come in from the continent as well. It Otamendi leaves Valencia then Virgil could head there. He's well suited to the La Liga style. Hope he's still here when the window closes but I can't see it unfortunately
