Barcelona, Man u and Arsenal look like getting into a three way battle for Fraser Forster. Barca maybe favuorites although agreeing a fee with borrussia monchengladbach for Marc Andre Ter Stegen. Davie Moyes also looking to lodge a £6M bid although i'd tell him double or even treble that fee. Celtic have been linked with dutch u21 Warner Hahn from Dordrecht. Also great to see Anthony Stokes sign on and Lustig, Ledley and Samaras look also like signing on.

Cmon you bhoys in green.

Believable11 Unbelievable2

Defo b looking for at least double and when you look at the sides who are in for him it's well justified

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe cash plus buttner from man u?

GunnieBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Not seen enough of buttner really have you?
Doubt it though, although looks decent in 3/4 games I've seen him but just decent., .,

Agree1 Disagree0

Well Manchester United paid £17.8m for David De Gea, I don't think he's even in the same league as FF, and I'm a critic of the big man at times. If the said clubs are interested and we could demand £12.5m off Southampton for Vic, surely we should demand £15m for The Great Wall?!

HamiltonBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed I remember you saying no a keeper has been sold for 10 mill I think or maybe just one. Wondering with ff linked to barca Manu and others do you think we could get near 10 as some quotes say 6mill starting bids. As he is one of the best young keepers in Europe what do you think we could get for him and do you think there is a lot of interest and maybe a biding war? As he looks to be England #1 soon, up yours Newcastle after all thier insults to us and the league {Ed007's Note - Sorry but I never said no GK went for £10m}

Agree0 Disagree0

Not much chance of a bidding war, someone at Celtic (or Southampton) leaked the price we accepted a bid for Vic and that lead to others talking about offering less, or similar with add-ons.

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought NL seemed resigned to losing him recently that there must have been some serious interest in Forster.
Although he is a fantastic shot-stopper I have criticised him for not commanding his box and failing to come for crosses and I will not be a hypocrite and change that.
So I would welcome a big bid as long as the money was used to keep improving the squad as we are paper-thin.

Good to see that Celtic have opened negotiations with Ledley and Sammy's agents. We must keep both of these players.
Also there was a lot of talk a while ago about Charlie Austin, well at Burnley they have replaced him with a guy called Danny Ings (spelling) he looks to have something about him and has scored a few goals this season, he also appears to have a bit of pace and is strong on the ball.
Maybe worth a cheeky £2m bid? Thoughts guys?
Timalloy

Believable5 Unbelievable5

Ings is a great player. £2m would be nowhere near his value. Would love us to get him.

Agree0 Disagree0

2 million is peanuts for a team with a chance of promotion to premiership so doubt it.
Jim

Agree0 Disagree0

Correct spelling
Ings is special, 5m maybe nearer the mark.
I, m a celtic supporter from Burnley, he, s a great player, would score loads for Celtic.
Get that cheeky bid in Lenny before someone else does

Stokesy just signed a new 3 year deal with the hoops. It's good to have the lad tied down, I don't have a bad word to say against him and IMO he will be hitting 25-30 this season for us.
HH ShottsBhoy

Believable6 Unbelievable3

This will come as a bit of a disappointment to some of the headbangers who post on here .He deserved his new contract and would have been hard to replace . TTTS

Agree1 Disagree0

Great news, hope its Joe and Sammi next. what is situation with Commons do Celtic have option for another year or is his contract up in summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Stokes will never sore 25-30 goals a season. He's just not good enough. Maybe a bit harsh but very true

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm glad stokesy has signed he is an important part of the squad and we could have really done without replacing him as it could cost a few bob! But he is not a cl level forward! We have scored 1 goal from open play in the group stage this year we need that bit of extra quality let's hope not having to replace stokes sammy or Ledley that the board gives nl just a bit extra or we find the next cf star through jp

Agree0 Disagree0

No name poster stokes I think will get at least 20 this season get behind the team! or in your case get back over to the tribute act site mm

Agree0 Disagree0

I am just glad to see hooper setting the English premiership on fire and boosting his chances of going to Brazil

Agree0 Disagree0

I'll happily agree with the no namer, Stokes doesn't have 30 goals in him this season! So far this season he's got 5 in 16, a ratio of 1 in 3 will amount to 18-19 goals in 55 games, which is roughly how many we'll play this season, and obv Stokes' might not play every game.

Word on the street today is Jorge Cadete is in talks with Celtic about comin in as a striker coach. Anyone else think this can only be a good thing for Project Balde (and is maybe aimed with him in mind)? I think in terms of young ataljic and Pukki, this will be a good thing as well.
Irishrocco

Believable15 Unbelievable4

Ok George cadet was a striker but has he ever been a competent striker coach? How many strikers has he coached and improved? Where, what clubs? What's the names of the strikers? How long did it take? What's his methods?

Agree0 Disagree0

Hope that's for the youth team.
Or it's an admission our pros are cack.
Spending more good money after bad.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think Henrik Would be a better choice, clearer vision and positional awareness

Green Judge

Agree0 Disagree0

Suppose the same could be levied at our current manager, how much experience did he have before he was handed the reigns to the biggest club in Scotland when it waon its knees? Sometimes you just have to rely on your instincts when bringing in anyone to a club. Look at Johan and Garry Parker, wouldn't have had them down as my 1st choice but Lenny obviously did and it has worked, even letting Thommo go has been proved a right decision. If NL thinks Jorge can get more out of Amido and teach our young strikers about movement, playing off the shoulder, finishing then I am all for it. on another note would have preferred Henrik or Chris. but hey ho.

Agree0 Disagree0

In reply to the initial reply. There was an article earlier this year about Jorge Cadete, and how he had bee doing his coaching in Portugal with Sporting Lisbon youth's and reserves, and mentioned how if he ever got the call from Celtic he would jump at the chance. I remember thinking that surely is an advert for his services and Celtic should take him up on it. In terms of Henrik, he's working his way up the managment ladder, and doing so in Sweden. His boy Jordan plays for the same team, so he won't be in a rush to uproot his family anytime soon. As for Chris, I remember him managing Lincoln, but then that not working out, and hearing nothing about since.
When you think we have Johan and Danny McGrain in as coaches, both defensive minded coaches, although Danny you would expect to be coaching the fullbacks the celtic way of being a full back ( Fisher, Matthews already showing a McGrain influence) it would be a fair assessement to get in an attacking coach, especially when you have a goalkeeping coach already at the club, and our Mangager was a defensive midfielder. They do it in american football and it works dividends there, so when you think how technical football is becoming, the way forward could possibly be this. {Ed001's Note - to point one thing out, Sporting (there is no Lisbon actually in their name by the way, Sporting's fans hate it when it is added!) have one of the best youth systems in the world. They only employ the best coaches and anyone who has worked in that system will have had the best education, in football terms, that can be given. Knowing that Cadete is working with them should mean he will be well versed in improving players technically, as that is the aim of their youth system.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Irishrocco you didn't answer the questions in the first posters post. All the sentences with question marks at the end.
All we have is that he coached boys at sporting. That demonstrates a lack of competence to coach champions league level strikers I'm afraid.
This is Celtic desperation to try and make good a messed up situation. Two strikers have been brought in and they're not spl average. They should never have been bought. Cheap options and results are predictably poor. When will we get away from let's spend £2m and hope we get lucky, smiles all round the boardroom table. It's 2014 nearly and we're playing at 1980s economics. And when it bites us we just look to patch it up instead of sacking them and starting again. Jorge cadet ffs we're trying for last 16 and being offered a sticking plaster when we need surgery and a transplant.

Agree0 Disagree1

Henrik for me but christ just get the money out and buy decent strikers, instead of trying to do it on the cheap

To be honest, I only answered with the information that I knew, hence why the questions weren't answered, and as Ed pointed out about the academy at Lisbon then that should give you an idea.
Am not disputing that we've penny pinched this summer when its came to strikers, but having an actual striking coach can't be bad thing whoever they bring in.

pressed submit too early.
1 thing I remember growing up as a striker, was we never got enough coaching, our attempt at coachingwas doing some shooting drills with the rest of the team, or playing in mini games, with the focus on the defenders poistioning and goalkeepers. To be able to go to training and work specifically on forward/striker technical training would have been a dream, and if had been introduced into our game 10-15 years ago we wouldn't be having this conversation.
What irks me is that we have strikers playing in development who generally score for fun, and play for Scotland 21's, 19's (am not being specific on age groups- so happy to be corrected), now you can't tell me that in the spl, we should be given these guys the chance to make the step up and prove themselves rather than continue as their going.
Ave heard all the arguments about not being ready, etc, and we are celtic we should be able to buy quality. If we face facts we aren;t as strong in the market as what we were, occasionally we get the odd diamond, but most times we dont. So solution, blood the youngsters in the SPL, get their confidence up, so for the following season they can be given the chance in Europe. Its how they do it abroad. But when we set up with 3 similar attackers. Pukki, Stokes and Sami it frustrates me as there are all to similar. If Sami is out for awhile al be a happy man. Am not one of the Sami is a Legend crew, for me he runs too much and doesn't look up, gives the ball away then puts his hands to his face and then doesn't chase back. I knwo the stats about Europe, etc, etc, but it doesn't give us balance.

Agree0 Disagree1

Here we go again two no name posters having a go at the board for not spending
6, 7, 8, £m or more on a striker, players in that
bracket are not interested in coming to the league we are operating in.Even with champions league football they are not coming to a third rate league, big as celtic are, any quality strikers will be snapped up by the teams in the elite leagues in europe, so please just accept where we are and stop having digs at the club, we get enough from everyone else in scotland.jimbhoy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed or anyone else, what's the crack with Benni McCarthy?

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldn't let Cadette in to watch Celtic never mind coach.

Agree0 Disagree0

Johnbhoy67 Your reason's for this?
Tambhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

For the same reason, that I would never had allowed David Hay or Lou Macari to manage our club. I think he had his chance at Celtic, and blew it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jonbhoy and how exactly did Cadette blow it? Tambhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed just a thought should we no be using cadetes potential wages towards a quality strikers wages ie finnborgsson who already knows where the goal is and good strikers need little training hooper wiz a natural and larsson was so good u couldny teach him he wid be the teacher thoughts {Ed007's Note - If you're a striker that needs coached in how to score then IMO you shouldn't be a striker.}

if it wasnt for sammi we wudnt be where we are at at the moment. he has been great for us and arguably the best signing lennon ever made (signing him to a contract when millions wanted rid of him) tony watt should be our 1st choice striker next year. constant willing runner who gives 200% on the pitch. i'm not sure about his training or what not cause I have never saw him train but on the pitch the lad does the business

also was benni mc carthy not something to do with our coaching set up ed? what happened to him if this was true

COYBIG {Ed007's Note - McCarthy was only over studying our training methods as part of his UEFA badges.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Just my opinion tambhoy, but with just over a year with us, I don't think of him as a great servant.I believe he attempted to use our club as a stepping stone to what he regarded as bigger things. I know he was superb in that time, and that he wasn't the only one who ever used Celtic in that way, but it sticks in my throat.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with jonbhoy, much I loved Caddette, hoijndongk, dicanio, the 3 amigos tried using us as a stepping stone. Jonnybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Jonbhoy and Jonnyboy, it's been like that for a long time guy's, player's born outside of this country do that and indeed player's from this country do it, their reason's MONEY, pure and simple, if Celtic won't pay them what they think their worth other's will, after all to these guy's it's a job.we need to face the reality, no one play's for the jersey now
