Who would take Nuno Gomes for some experience?
I'd take the big man on a play as you play deal.

Mybe 4 years ago but not now can't see him bringing much apart from a big wage bill.

Agree0 Disagree1

No, he never kicked a ball for Blackburn, we are trying to get rid of dead wood. He was a good player in his day, however them days are long gone. Ian L

Agree0 Disagree0

4/5 years ago aye. No now
I'm all for the way celtic are going about signing policy/strategy, but I'm not getting hung up on it, we will need experience but Gomez is not the one, unless its really worth while, don't bother!
Funny how Commons and Sammy the seal are now our experienced players?! Could do with a belter of an auld heed but doubtfull

Hi ed, any truth in that efe ambrose wants to follow big vic out the door?. Gazdcelt {Ed007's Note - Not that I know Gaz, sorry.}

Believable5 Unbelievable8

You fell for the editorial genius of sly sports. If you read evening times ambrose moving was a reference to him moving from defence to centre mid when VW goes. Quote from NL

Agree0 Disagree1

Cheers ed. Says it on tv gossip part. can't see it happening to be honest. Gazdcelt

Agree0 Disagree0

I suppose i'd rather have him in midfield than centre half.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hope so

Big Jason

Agree0 Disagree0

For some time I have seen glimpses of potential from him in midfield. Hope he gets a run to find out.

Sunny Jim.

Agree0 Disagree0

The guys shocking under pressure in defence, but more than happy for him to play mid and maybe make a name for himself as he can play.! Would rather that than spend money to replace Vic.

Bigbadjohn

Agree0 Disagree0

I ve read that they are going to move him into a holding midfielder role. instead of as a defender. I think he is a bit of a bomb scare myself.

Agree1 Disagree0

I will drive him to whatever club he is going to and won't take a penny for petrol!

Agree1 Disagree2

Not his biggest fan, but hope he settles, and gets to grip with scottish game, scares me in defence tho

Ska Bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

He's Gash, there'll be a queue to drive him and i'll be in it.

Iain

Agree0 Disagree0

A few people would hold the door open for him. he might come on to a game though if we don't get a good offer. look at big sami - gone from flop to legend in a couple of seasons

Agree0 Disagree0

He had a no-bad tourny in Brazil so it's a great time to punt him as he costs us goals whatever position he plays.
We can surely do better with the money we would get for punting him.

Jungle Jim

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont know if he wants to go but the latest rumour is Besiktas want him for Right Back £4 million. take it I say and buy another CB. a decent one.

Agree0 Disagree0

I personally like the guy. A bit of a Jackie McNamara/Vidar Risheth type in that he seems to be happy to play anywhere and give his all. He might have had some trouble at times at centre half but if you look at his performances pre African Nations Cup he was awesome. I would happily see him stay. Just hope his exploits with his national team over the summer won't see him struggle like he did mid season.

Does anybody know what the reason for the cliftonville fixture switch was? Surely uefa would need a good reason.
Nothing in the press.

Bowbhoy

Believable8 Unbelievable8

I'd say driven by money and possibly safety around the ground

Agree1 Disagree0

Hopeful of TV interest, thought process was if 1st Leg at Paradise and the tie was over, no-one would want the rights for the second leg

Agree1 Disagree0

Doesn't need to be a good reason. As long as both teams fully agree its allowed.

Agree0 Disagree0

They asked for it, and we agreed, we didn't have to . uefa will sanction it because it makes no difference to them . if things go the way they should the game in n.i. will be a lot closer than the one at celtic park . maybe they just wanted to kick off the home leg at 0-0 with a wee chance of a result, rather than starting it goals down . that would make sense to me if I was affiliated to cliftonville .
and let's be honest it really shouldn't matter to us which leg comes first . no disrespect intended to cliftonville or their fans . shammy

Agree0 Disagree0

Clearly it was switched so that Cliftonville can have a competitive game at Solitude. It would make for a better atmosphere at the match.

Quack

Agree0 Disagree0

Both teams asked uefa for the game to be moved, there's your reason.

Agree0 Disagree1

When we were meant to be playing in Belfast it is marching season! that's why

Agree1 Disagree1

As Celtic fans we should know better than to write of a team cause they are from a tiny league, they are a decent side that likes to play football, I int think we should take them lightly

Darrenbhoy

Agree0 Disagree1

Cheers folks
I didn't realise it was that easy, I assumed uefa would be rather strict about these things.

Bowbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

The Orange Order are marching that day. Probably safer not having hundreds of Celtic men in Belfast that day. You have to drive thru loyalist areas coming off the boat or from the airport. It's mostly motorway but a small section will be loyalist. Anybody heading over for the game should go to one of the bars in Ardoyne or the Falls Road. Nial McGinn owns a very good restaurant called Failte on the Falls. Plenty of bars and clubs in Ardoyne. Either way its going to be amazing. Rod Stewart was playing Belfast on Thursday and took a trip up to Solitude (Cliftonville's ground)before his gig. The place is buzzing.

Agree0 Disagree0

I live on the isle of wight but am cliftonville and celtic mad. There has always been a wonderful relationship between the two. I have been to many a Reds match and always wore my celtic top and scarf (during the troubles when police would ban the flying of the tricolour). I watched McAvennie score on loan for cliftonville in the semi final of a cup I seem to remember. Every single one of us are celtic mad.you will be well looked after in north belfast and clearly celtic have changed the tie to help cliftonville financially whilst security is paramount during the marching season. Enjoy the trip bhoys, but my heart belongs to celtic even though they are my local team.

Arsenal said to be considering £13.5 million bid for Wanyama. Personally I think Arsenal would be a perfect move for the Bhoy and Arsenal need a player like him

Believable14 Unbelievable15

I don't know why they would offer 13.5m when they know Southampton's bid of 12.5m was accepted?
Daz

Agree1 Disagree1

Don't know why they would want the player when they are trying to sign Fellaini?
Also, Wenger is always tight with money and will not pay silly money to agents.

Agree0 Disagree0

To get a quick deal. Buy some goodwill and put off others. Sometimes a club will offer much more than a million from the last accepted bid and if Arsenal act it will be decisive and quick the last thing they want is a bidding war. Not so much because they may have to pay a bit extra but because they lose control when other clubs come in and then anything can happen. The stillness speaks volumes here. Sopotcelt.

Agree0 Disagree0

13.5m your having a laugh more made up stories.if we get 12m I will be delighted but vics agent could scupper a deal for him.i would get a new agent if I was him

Agree0 Disagree2

Is that not to cover the agents fee demand?

Agree0 Disagree0

Nobody knows the exact amount and maybe the extra million is for the scum bag agent
Gordybhoy44

Agree0 Disagree0

The Southampton deal probably had a good sell on clause for Celtic. I would imagine the more a team pays now the less of a sell on we get, but I could be wrong. mark

Agree0 Disagree0

12.5mil is the price why go s I've it!? I think he's destined for arsenal or Liverpool! He knows he's at a massive club so I'd be surprised if he went to Southampton or a Cardiff! If he's ambitious anyway

Agree1 Disagree0

For me Arsenal would be the perfect fit for Vic.He is exactly what they need and fits Wenger's signing policy perfectly. Just because we accepted Southamptons bid does not mean we cannot get more. green jhedi {Ed007's Note - There are MASSIVE changes planned at Arsenal over the next 12/18 months.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Because they rate him and only an idiot would say he is not worth every penny, let's hope we find many more.

Agree1 Disagree0

I think bigger clubs would be wise to bid now for the £12m+ instead of hesitating and waiting to see how he does in the EPL.
Obviously he has the ability and by holding back they will end up having to pay double that in the inflated market of England.

ALLEDGEDLY CARDIFF BIDDING 11.5 FOR BIG VIC

Agree0 Disagree0

VAT + The agent's fee pushes the £12.5m transfer fee up to £16m, other bidders should get in quick!
