anyone else think rodgers is being sold short in the transfer market by the board, its obvious that centre back left back and striker positions need to be strengthened.

Who knows who we might still get signed up but so far it seems like the same old story every season. My personal feeling is that dembele will leave for a ridiculous amount of money and Rodgers will be given half the money at best to reinvest. I understand running a football club is a business but Celtic have a proven record of improving young players and making more profit. For me it's a no brainier to spend between 4-5 million on two or three talents. Didn't Rodgers say agents were lining up with young talent? Wanting the dembele treatment? HH.

What about last season's CL money though, that we 'don't budget ourselves on'? Rodgers expressed frustration in January as well. Even last summer, I thought we could have done a bit more. We really never seem to be the best we could be.

am I wrong or didn't lennon leave for the same thing. good record at celtic but they wouldn't spend - he felt with those constraints he couldn't take the team any further - or am I completely wrong - was it something else.

he seemed happy, we were doing well. or did he want a challenge elsewhere. (Bolton. )

You are bang on Digi. The board room must be stuffed full of money. Allowing players to leave and go out on loan is fine but we need a recruitment plan.

Looking back at our squad last season to what we have now, it is NOT better. The only thing better, is the money we have available at the bank/ boardroom.

Agree2 Disagree0

28 Jul 2017 19:59:52
Does no one else wonder where the money goes?
I'd love us to spend 15 million or so on 3-4 we'll scouted up and coming players that can make a fast impact. Surely we can afford that? But, of course, I have 100 percent trust in BR too,

So if it does go Pete Tong in Norway then what does it come down to regarding the Squad?
DID Rodgers say to the Board "its all good, no need to invest atm as we have a Team that'll Qualify"
BUT go and buy Hayes then after 2/ 3 wks bring in Nitcham! Timing seems F@#@ed! Squad should have been strengthened by 7/ 8m within first 3 weeks! Hate to say it but where will the blame lay and will Rodgers explain what went wrong IF ANYTHING DID! With the reqruitment process?
Just seems like the route to the CL was not taken as seriously as it should!
Thoughts.

Saw an article online quoting Rodgers as saying we might get one more in but not a guarantee as they need to improve the squad got to say would be disappointed if this is true we surely need two maybe 3 additions.

Hello, as u can tell by my name I'm a Rangers fan but come in peace as I do have an interest (a healthy one may I add) in what's happening with the other clubs in our league. I've been reading your guys posts and I agree with ya's. Although I do GENUINELY think you will win the spl again, I think it's very important for yourselves and Scottish football in general that you have a good champions league campaign. Due to this I was like yourselves expecting one or two quality players arriving at Parkhead in this window and whilst there is still plenty of time for this to happen I can understand your frustrations that it hasn't happened before the champions league qualifier, I do think you will grab an away goal and progress after the first leg on Wednesday you can tell just how big a risk it has been by not getting one or two quality boys in intime for this game . Ntichi (I hope that's right if not forgive me ) I think will turn out to be a really good player for you btw.

No a don't think so JB67 buddy, I think we are still shopping for all these rough diamonds, a mean MD is what 20/ 21

When we going to get a decent experienced player?

Ed used to harp on about a quality Bosman here and breaking the wage barrier we were good at that under NL and I miss a was really hoping for that this window but Lee Carrington only got his feet in the door

That must be the plan surely? If BR is not keen on "stockpiling players" he must be planning something like that because he has been critical of most of the development squad not being good enough we have let twenty one players go so we need a bit of real quality not many but @ the end of this season he must be thinking a GK too IMO

2 or 3 good Bosman's for me (Y)

enough of the doom and gloom already. if the hoops score in norway, which i think they will, i expect them to go through. like the match reports the other night, celtic on the brink etc etc, garbage. should not have to qualify anyway, just pandering to corrupt clubs and uefa decision makers. plus the window is open for another month yet.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jul 2017 22:31:51
I always had the stupid feeling that we recruited late in the window to avoid paying june July and some of Augusts wages of new players! I know laughable but how else can we explain this.

Sure no striker wants to come and play third fiddle behind LG and md but that unwilling player would now be up front on the cl stage with balls flying in from Sinclair rogic ntcham and Armstrong. Feck I could even score with that service. And with md off in a month year or two and LG in purgatory with the gb an extended run in the team and a name for yersel.
We score once or twice on Wednesday all this won't matter as at the very least we will be group stages of the el. But if like to think this will be the last time I feel like this.
(Like every transfer window. )

Dam right jamesbhoy67 Rodgers is being sold short by the board. And if we don't get past Rosenberg digibanger we still have to play a round to get into the Europa Group!
The Board's thinking will change via how much Rodgers gets depending on situation. We must get past R. berg and the Board MUST spend to bring in 1/ 2 top Players but still doesn't giv much time to bed in.
Worst case scenario Rodgers gives press conference insinuating things would have been different if certain powers held up their end of deal when he decided to join.

There's a fair bit of pointless flapping going on. We are going through. Few more players are being watched and if we move for them it will be result related. Better result. Better players. There's enough in this team to do this.

So we are in the hunt for a winger/ striker mmm I wonder who haha but he's just had a couple of good games for Man C who will either pump up the price or sell to EPL team we have no chance in Roberts.

Have I gone back on time? This time last year after the imps game the same doomsayers were saying BR wasn't the man for the job and the team was sh. t and we were on a hiding to nothing and we all know how that panned out. So we had a bad night at the office big deal. I am confident of going through. Rosenberg will attack us and we will dominate and score at least 2 over there. We will sign at least 2 more players including paddy. Let's remember who we are. Celtic supporters and we stand behind our team whatever. HH.

Jumping the gun a little to be honest. We missed a striker on Wednesday that much was obvious. On the right forrest was poor. We don't need much more in terms of recruitment. I'd be happy if we just got paddybback who can fit right in to the starting 11. Maybe a cb and we're set for the season. Man for man we're still better than every spl team and have a good enough squad for champs league. Craig Gordon is still a quality keeper, but is in from of him we need some quality. We're miles ahead of everyone with midfielders and have 2 30+ goals a season strikers, unfortunate we didn't have either on Wednesday.

you are the manager of your local Tesco Metro.

2 check out operators, Lee comes in drunk so you send him home suspended and Mousey is sick.

Its your job to make some calls and get some extra staff in.

If not the queues at the check in will be massive.

People screw up and get sick - (ESPECIALLY in football not Tesco) - but its a managers job to make sure you have cover. Unless senior management tell you you can't recruit cover.

will be spewing if we loose on wed and get a tough tie in EL play off. if we win on Wed - I will be relieved - we will score but so will they,

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - A score draw will do but I still think we're a far better team than showed up on Wednesday and we'll beat them by the odd goal.}

29 Jul 2017 13:07:27
yeap that's my feeling too ed, but if we play like wed and they play marginally better up front - I'm nervous for sure - and I thought by now with last year id be confident. I guess the board have to look at the books and assume every year for the next few years we will only received domestic money and budget accordingly - and its a crazy market.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - And what if they don't play any better, what if what we saw on Wednesday was them at their best? We know it wasn't our best and if LG is passed fit we'll be a totally different team this week. If we score first I think their heads will go down, the longer the game went on the other night without us scoring the more they grew in confidence. We need to get in and around their box forcing their defence to make mistakes and give away free-kicks, corners etc Playing Rogic up front cut out him running at defences using his close control and surely Sinclair can't be as poor again.}

29 Jul 2017 14:50:52
I know - with a recognised striker it won't be easy for them - but there is the nagging voice.

I was confident over Imps, Astana less so - and then the Happy Bear Shavers - 5 - 2 up (BUT THEY GOT 2 AWAY goals) then we didn't score - its not fun supporting these guys and some times it flippin torture. On the back of Malmo, Legia and Maribor - and I thought those days were over! Now I'm not so sure.

Many people feel we have a stronger squad and a better manager . No matter who we have in our squad, the timing of these Qualifliers will always be difficult for us and we will always have close calls . Third striker would be a no -no for me but I would want us to sign a versatile front player, as we can't afford to have a player sulking on the bench and on the training pitch . I am sure BR wants to get to the stage where everyone on the training pitch has a reasonable chance of involvement in next game.

Celtic have been fined 23,000 Euros by UEFA for the illicit banner and breach of H&S Regs.
The charge relating to the kit was closed with no further action.

Guys,

this is so insignificant in money terms for Celtic. its beyond me how the board bend over to the sfa and uefa to critique there own fans. rosenborg last week, how many fans absent? 3000? how much did that cost £70000? maybe £100,000?

the board seem to forget this section was probably the only section of the stadium full in years gone by, we don't have the luxury of tv money up here and a vast amount of the cashflow comes from the fans. i'm not saying the GB should control the club, nor should they, however they do have a serious influence with fans. the board should utilise the GB, commercialise them.

people on here have said on and of the club shouldn't be political. however how many say Celtic is more than a club? Celtic's identities are because of the fans we have, not the boardroom, not the champions league and not religion.

A club without fans is nothing.

I think that we all get drawn into a false position the 2nd half of each season, players, fans, media. With only spl to play we go on a run n look superb which gives us false view on start of next season, happened to Ronnie and neil, the latter knowing thereafter how important this time of year is. Losing paddy means we should be make double the effort to strengthen but we seem to have supplemented making us weaker IMO. I hope to be proved wrong but really it is only sinclair who is different from the starting 11 who got us embarrassed in Europa.
