I've seen us linked with O'Donnell today. For me it might not actually be a bad move. He'll be desparate to make the Euros squad so will give 110% every game and come next year he would be decent back-up if we bring in a new starting RB.

He is no where near the level required. He is part of one of the worst defenses in the league.

110% of not particularly good isn’t what we need.

He's looked good enough any time I've seen him recently which was only for Scotland. Don't keep tabs on Motherwell at all tbh so if I've got the wrong impression then fair enough.

Kev, O’Donnnell is a solid enough right back. Nothing spectacular but a decent enough player. And the fact we can get an international right back for nothing would make it a good deal in my eyes.

Stephen O'Donnell hanging back from signing a new deal at Motherwell to find out what Celtic are doing.

Ben Davis is a done deal, Celtic also made moves for Ben Pearson but Bournemouth out bid Celtic in terms of wages.

Celtic have sounded Arsenal out about a loan deal til the end of the season regarding Callum Chambers

Nantes in France have expressed an interest in Oli Ntcham Celtic not willing to do a deal til summer.

Why wouldn’t we drive oli ntchambles to France tonight?

{Ed007's Note - Because we'd end up getting blamed for any new Covid cases in Scotland.}

The Davis deal is it pre contract? Daithi94.

28 Jan 2021 22:12:25
Ben Davies good on the ball but not great in the air but decent acquisition on a Bosman, let’s face it he can’t be worse than what we have already.
Would like to see him being brought in now and put Ajer at RB.

28 Jan 2021 23:10:37
Rich T as far as I am aware Davis is a Pre Contract however Preston supposedly aren’t happy with how Celtic have conducted our business supposedly, which has probably ruined any deal being thrashed out now.

Oh that's not great but as long as he has or is going to be hear for next season well that's cool.! O, Donnell or Chambers more likely ODonnell for me he knows the league plays in it but will see any chance we could sneak inva surprise winger Daithi94?

I know the club tried for a winger in the summer window but I haven’t heard anything this window about a winger.

By in large Celtic have yet to replace Paddy Robert’s from he left which is frightening. The downgrading of the squad has been nothing short of shocking.

They replaced KT with an average LB in Greg Taylor and the infamous Boli.

They replaced Fraser Forster with a wooden one in the form of Barkas.

They tried to replace Craig Gordon with a kid in Conor Hazard who had only ever spent time in the Scottish championship.

Jozo Simunovic should never have been released that was another cost cutting exercise.

The club had 3 RBs last season we currently sit with one who doesn’t want to be there.

Ajer, Ntcham, Christie, Eddy, have all expressed an interest in leaving the club, based on the track record of our transfer business this summers appears to be a complete rebuild. God help whoever the new manager is cause dealing with Nick Hammond will be a disaster.

I reckon el hamed, Duffy, Ajer, hendry, laxalt, bolingoli, brown, Christie, ntcham, elyounoussi, McGregor, rogic, shved, bayo, edouard could all be gone in what’s left of January and the summer. Wouldn’t be surprised if Barkas and ajeti joined that list as well.
I know a lot won’t be missed, but squad depth is decimated. That’s a huge rebuilding job for whoever is in charge, and hard to do with a budget of 20 irn bru bottle returns.

Daithi94 simunovic can't play in cold weather, it agitates his problematic knee injury. That's why he was released and struggling to get new club. Early signs of arthritis by looks of it.

Davis has signed a pre contract.

I'm very glad I was wrong as I thought and said it was smoke and mirrors and that he would sign for Bournemouth.
This boy is a very, very good defender.

28 Jan 2021 16:30:01
A lot of Preston fans on social media say he's a good steady player who could have went for millions but they let his contract run down.

MSM where reporting they want 2-2.5M. Which if true is ridiculous. We will probably offer 300k.

Few reports saying sky have jumped the gun.

Just heard he is looking likely to go to Bournemouth instead - not surprised given the state of Celtic right now.

{Ed007's Note - Heard from who?}

Ben Pearson going to Bournemouth. Ben Davis coming to Celtic.

According to some reports Celtic have said we still have a bit to go on the signing. Let's hope we can get it over the line, I hope this boy isn't another Duffy in disguise lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2021 18:22:31
We were looking at both but the major interest was Davis.

The fear I have in this is does this saying that Lennon is staying as manager? Why bring in any new players IF Celtic are looking at bringing in a new manager who will want his own players.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2021 19:26:53
Maybe the new guy picked Davies.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2021 19:31:07
Tony celtic fans need to get this Bring in his own players out their heads.
Head coaches are not in charge of signings at most big clubs in the world. Directors of football and recruitment chiefs are employed for that. Yes head coaches get input but that's what it is, input.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2021 19:35:17
I can only hope marco pal. Because any sort of respect I have had on Lennon is going fast the longer he is the manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2021 20:23:51
The new popular way of working is the recruitment team (dof, chief scout, board, manager) pick players who fit a characteristic and style for the club. It gives continuity if a manager leaves so the new guy doesn’t come in and want to sell 11 and buy 11 then last 6 months and go through it all again.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's not new, Degsy it's been that way for years around the world. It's only in more recent times - the last maybe 10 years or so - that clubs in the UK have started using it.}

28 Jan 2021 20:37:47
It’s fairly new in uk football. European and South American clubs favoured head coaches ahead of managers way before we adopted it.
I’m not overly keen, but I understand it based on the money involved and the fact that managers in England get sacked during matches for conceding corners.

{Ed007's Note - 😂😂😂

28 Jan 2021 20:39:40
Its been happening in Europe for about 20 years.

Why would sky pre announce Davis deal are they trying to piss off the celtic fans.

Marco1888, that'll be Alex Neil lol HH.

28 Jan 2021 23:37:43
Yeah prob mate I was hoping lennon would walked away, he must know the fans are starting to loose any respect they had for him. I was dubious about him getting the job in the first place but when the board backed him with cash I thought ok this might work. How wrong was I lol.
