Heard from my cousin today that Kevin Doyle Michael Owen & Richard Dunne will sign on Thursday morning

Believable6 Unbelievable28

Who is your cousin? Santa Clause?!

Agree1 Disagree0

Unless your cousin is Lenny or Lawwell your cousin is talking nonsense. johnbhoy79

Agree0 Disagree0

I think I can smell s***e.... Yes, I can definitely smel s***e.....

Agree1 Disagree0

U still post that even tho Lennon came out 2day and said we are not interested in Owen, Thank god!

Drew

Agree0 Disagree0

Much as it might harm our group prospects I think we should pursue with singing young talent unless we are getting a really good deal on experience.

Need to keep building step by step.

Agree0 Disagree0

Doyle is the only possibility as he's still relatively young although he would be expensive and unsure if there's a profit in him. Owen and Dunne are finished they are too old for the wages they would expect Celtic would not and correctly should not finance a pension plan for an ailing "star". Robbin Keane and Craig Bellamy were the only exception to this

Agree0 Disagree0

In the same mood as this mushroom munching poster...
I hear we are also signing Wayne Rooney on a free transfer, Katy Perry and Barney The Dinosaur for four mars bars, a can of irn bru and a half eaten curly wurly...

Allegedly Paul Lambert is hoping to raid his former club for the services of Gary Hooper, however Celtic are demanding £8m, Villa want to pay £5m ~ Mrs E

Believable10 Unbelievable15

No way Hooper will leave, especially if we qualify for the Champions League tomorrow night. Why would Lennon want to sell his best striker? And furthermore, why would he want to let another striker go after loaning Bangura out and it looks like Murphy will be loaned back out to Ipswich. This is a non-story.

Agree0 Disagree0

In all honesty, if we lined up a player of such quality of Jordan Rhodes for instance, then I would be happy for us to cash in on Hooper. I like the lad, he scores goals and can be deadly in the box, but his all round play and effort has been called into question on a number of occassions. I live down south now and during the summer it was fairly well known that his agent was talking to any Premier league team that would listen in order to drum up a move. He is desparate to play in the EPL. If his heart is no in the hoops, then away with him.

I just hope that instead of paying say 2million for a J Russell type, that PL goes one step further and makes a real investment in Rhodes - that boy is the real deal.

just seen jimmy bullard has signed for mk dons gud tae see how these guys that knocked us bak over money or witever other sh1tey reason hav went on tae greater things. Bullard - mk dons. Mcfadden - clubless Sol campbell - clubless David james - clubless. Git it rite up yees should be an honour playin fir Celtic. Wee rant over

gunniebhoy

Believable18 Unbelievable7

Does that tell us something about the players or the judgement of our management team in being linked to them?

Agree0 Disagree0

Def the players mcfadden is the perfect example the guy could hav been a legend at parkhead and hes supposedly a celtic fan but he decided 2 go 2 birmingham 1st time we wanted him then again last year knocked us bak this time for the everton bench now look at him bullard wasnt wanted at hull got sold to ipswich now hes at mk dons again he could hav been an excellent player for us and hes a charcter the fans would hav loved him but he was a greedy pr1ck a dnt blame our managment coz they wer lookin at good experienced players who would hav improved the team

gunniebhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Kinda stupid this. A player doesnt sign for Celtic so we wish him all the misfortune ! Are you a man or a stupid wee schoolboy ?

Agree0 Disagree1

Am a man m8 but a dont take it nicely wen a supposed celtic fan knocks his team bak twice and the other knocks em bak coz hes a greedy d1ck wen hes no wanted by the team hes contracted 2 u sure ur even a celtic fan aye coz u sound like u dnt care wen sum 1 knocks us bak

gunniebhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Gunnieboy isn't a stupid schoolboy, all I think he's saying is all these players think the grass is greener elsewhere. Not one of those guys have went to bigger clubs. We don't need any of that lot, McFadden included. Hail hail

Hearing that an offer will be made for Johnny Russell, but a striker is not so important to Lenny, as Ibrahim has been retrained as a striker in the past six months. Lennon wanted to sell Stokes but due to injury, Bangura has been sacrificed. A price has been agreed with Ipswich for Murphy if he impresses during his loan - £200,000

Believable9 Unbelievable10

Utter drivel. Ibrahim is about 5'5 and a natural playmaker. Retrained as a striker ?! Play FM much? Not even gonna start on the Stokes comment.

Man Unt to bid £12.5 million for Wanyama, bid expected fri & deal be done before the deadline. This IS a fact.

Believable13 Unbelievable24

Wanyama will not leave this season. FACT

Agree0 Disagree1

Qualify for the CL and we have no need to sell big Vic. If he is what we think he is, he's value will soar in that competition. Potential to actually achieve that inflated value posted above - SPL teams cannot command that sum of money for a player. Unless you're dealing with mugs in Sunderland (sorry Keano)...

Agree0 Disagree0

Go away you sad little man.

Agree0 Disagree0

That's good, next season he would be worth 25mill then for us, one season with us and he is a 10+mill player add to that him in cl if he does well add another 6 to it. Just think of the club and the business right now with rankers gone and all this talk of the end of spl and how Celtic have to penny pinch and all, we could make if we sold 3players ki,hooper, wanyama 6.5+8+9 for around24mill add cl(if make it in) 12+. So around 36mill playing in spl and that is one hell of a a business, obviously I'm not saying do it or the figures are right but just an example of what we could make as of our own stand alone plan, I think we should keep faith at ppl in charge and support for it is great times ahead and Lennon is building something special and trying to keep them together.

Agree0 Disagree0

If as you claim this is a fact.why have you not left your name? numptie

Hope we go for it from the off, kill them of early doors. Start signing talks as soon as we score the first goal. Ian L

hi ed,wondering if you can help i have a couple of mates in the czech republic who are thinking of buying celtic tv to watch the games and get all the latest news i know here we dont get the games live as the happen on celtic tv but to they get them live as they happen in europe or is it the same as here you get it when the game has finished, thanks in advance for your help.
davie {Ed007's Note - I've had a look about and can't see anything to help, sorry. Maybe someone else will know.................

Paulbhoy010

Agree0 Disagree0

Outside the UK you get the games live and the the broadcast quality is very good although the commentary team can be a little biased!

Yes, it's a live broadcast outside of the uk. we in the uk get a delayed transmission...usually a minimum of 3 hours after the game has ended

bigD

Agree0 Disagree0

I work all ove rthe world and have celtic tv premium package 19.99 pm. I have just logged in and it has a message on screen saying tonights match will only be audio coverage for all subscribers with highlights at 11pm celtic park time. I remember this when i was in America years ago. SPL & cup competitions are shown but not UEFA CL.

I want to say all the best to mo bangura, lacks confidence and just one goal and I think he would have relaxed a bit.i seem to have a soft spot for the lad and I hope he starts scoring in Sweden and comes back in the new year a better player!

Believable12 Unbelievable6

Thanks Mo, Good Luck in Stockholm, its a great place isn't it. Sopot Celt

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree with OP he didn't get a run of games and was unlucky with injuries. The longer a striker goes without goals the confidence ebbs away and you could see last week he was trying to hard. In saying that it frees up some money and hopefully get someone else in and you never know he might find some form over there and come back a better player.

Briggs

Agree0 Disagree0

Lacks confidence, lacks athleticism and lacks football ability. Only think he doesn't lack is a rasta stylee haircut.

Got a feeling that all this talk about Willy Boly joining Celtic will come to absolutely nothing. I can remember about this time last year there was lots of talk about Baba Diawara joining and instead we went for the less well known option in Mo Bangura. I heavily suspect that Celtic will sign Maya Yoshida instead of Boly as I fear Auxerre are trying to bump up his price tag by saying that he has been linked with a move to Celtic. I also predict that we will sign a striker on a permanent deal after Mo Bangura was today loaned back to AIK Stockholm until December. I wouldn't be surprised if we made a bid for Johnny Russell just to keep things on the cheap rather than spending a ridiculous amount of money on a striker. Russell would support Hooper very well and would add that bit dynamism to the team. What do you all think? Hail Hail!

~Andy~

Believable8 Unbelievable4

As far as I can see, Lennon confirmed that 5 players are on the radar, two of which are definitely Boly and Henriksen, the others are probably Yoshida, Russell and Rhodes, I'd suspect.

Just a thought but what about trying to get Michael Owen.
I know he has had problems with injury's but he has done it at the highest level and could be great for the CL

Believable6 Unbelievable15

He's past his best mate. far to injury prone and he won't move too far away from his Horses. Young Watt's a better option.

Richybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

He was past it long a go

Agree0 Disagree0

I would take him in a heartbeat.
But lennon quoted today as saying he is not interested.
We do need 1 more striker though with Murphy away tommorow, Stokes out for 2 months and BangBang ofski to AIK.

Agree0 Disagree0

NL has said today that he not interest in him. Hes looking at Boly and Henrikson.

Daz the Hoopy

Agree0 Disagree0

Neil Lennon has today said that Celtic have no interest whatsoever in Michael Owen.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would`nt want him now, would rather see Tony Watt get a chance and concentrate all monies on quality centre half

Good afternoon all ! I see a lot of posts saying that young watt is better than Russell and why would we sign Russell?and that watt is hoopers replacement on a comment below! C'mon guys watt looks like he will be a star but we could ruin The bhoy with too much pressure! Russell looks good and our signing policy is sign good young players with a lot of potential and sell on so he fits that bill even though a target man is a necessity! Lennon confirmed were looking at wily boly who I know nothing about and Henrickson which we already knew! Let's hope the boy! Maybe (mo banger) can at least salvage half his transfer fee with his loan also he does look a dud but haven't really seen him enough to give him a fair crack of the whip but what iv seen iv not liked.

i see john carew is geting loads of disagrees. why ?. just looked at his stats.. 6' 6'' he is only 32 so a good 3 years left in him. every where he played he has scored a goal every 3 games , but that is in the french, spanish, italian , turkish and english top flights, and for me that is not a bad average. he keeps the same average { roughly} at international level. i'm not saying we should go for him but if he can average that in those leagues , not playing for any of the top teams , surely he would score a lot more playing for the champions in the scottish league. you all want a big target man well they dont come much bigger than big john.. right shoot me down now,,, shamrock

Believable11 Unbelievable10

I agree with you shamrock. most ppl on here are crying out for a big target man and like you say carew fits the bill for me. think his goals for game ratio might improve in spl , too many punters still living in dreamland for me,wanting the club to parade some sort of marquee signing but those days left with MON, is he attached to a club ed?.................. bhoywonder {Ed007's Note - Carew's a free agent mate.}

Agree0 Disagree0

He would do a great job...as you say a good 2 years in him for champs league and maybe 3 SPL level...Hooper would profit from his hold up play too.

Agree0 Disagree0

Carew is a good target man but his career is nose diving now no pace and an expensive short term idea!would much rather see a young target man wwho could make us a few quid we need to look forward rather than just now

Sos

Agree0 Disagree0

The guy could not get a game in the Championship last season! And we are wanting him for the Champions League... Not for me thanks
Bee Bee

Agree0 Disagree0

Cant say I would be happy with him signing, had a good goal record up untill his last years with villa then even last year struggled to score in the championship (whenever fit)

Sk

Agree0 Disagree0

He would demand big money and has been poor for over a year. Why would we take him when he obviously could not cut it in the Championship? On current form no better than Murphy ( also a big target man) who I believe we are desperate to offload. Granted John Carew was class...I was a big admirer of his but that's 3 or 4 years ago now. An ageing Emile Heskey displaced him at Villa in 2011 and he has many injuries which are fast catching up on him. Lets go for the young boys and forget the last chance salooners which includes John Carew. He really would do little to enhance the squad as a player. Sopot Celt

Agree0 Disagree0

I would have had him in the Celtic team when MON was courting him a good while back. Must agree that his better days are behind him and there must be someone with a better stock in the pipeline (hopefully)...............Bigbhoynow...

Agree0 Disagree0

Ive always been a fan of carew, but he always seems to fall out of favour with managers, maybe is a bit of a diva? jj

I see Hooper is now being tipped to leave The Celtic at the end of the week? There has been talk of Wanyama and Kayal going also but thankfully, so far nothing to report. However, IF (and only if) we do part with any of these players I would be very annoyed if we hadn't arranged real replacements to join the club BEFORE they went.
We already have cash for Ki and if we are left at the end of the window with obvious money to spend, the asking prices will take a hike in a 'sellers market'.
I sincerely hope we are not left scratching our erse with the squad missing of 2 of our best players?
Why do we always hesitate and hum and haw until the last minute to do our transfer business?

Jungle Jim

Believable4 Unbelievable10

I'd sell Hooper as long as they splash the cash on Rhodes

Agree0 Disagree0

If we do sell these players i reckon NL and PL will just cherry pick the spl for replacements , we dont need to spend big as the spl is ours for the foreseeable future.as for europe we will never win the champ league so why go down the route of rangers chasing a dream...........bhoywonder

Agree0 Disagree1

Nonsense, Ki was the only one we needed to move on and that was to compensate for the 5m loss in last financial year.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jungle Jim you are 100% correct its about time some people woke up and smell the coffee, the way we deal with transfers and the time taken is unbelievable at times. Those continuallying mentioning the "road Rangers went down" has nothing to do it that is just a cheap excuse for not spending from a position off strength we repeatedly fail to capitalise. As for a team good enough to win the SPL is that our ambitions??

Agree0 Disagree0

Poster 4 what should our ambitions be?. were in a diddy league with no funding at all. i think we are in a great position tbh, the team fared well last year in europa league and the teams were champions league level. MON didnt and still dosent deal until the last few weeks of window . i personally dont think we will sell anymore players . PL was spoken about unfurling the flag on here not so long ago for the remarkable job he has been doing, fast forward 3 weeks and ppl want to lynch him...........bhoywonder.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bytheway jungle jim who are THE celtic??
,.,.kbarry

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi kbarry... I nearly always say 'The Celtic' when talking or writing about our team.
Long, long ago (1962) I sat on my Da's knee and sang For it's a grand old team.. '....We support The Celtic for they are the finest in the land etc etc etc... and got a Ne-erday half-crown.
Nothing sinister - just habit.

Jungle Jim

Agree0 Disagree0

Some of our supporters need a reality check... We play (as said above) in a below average league and our policy is to find talent, buy cheap and move on for profit. Our cup final is tomorrow night and a possible 15 million pot awaits. Let's be honest, if we spend 4 million of that we're doing well...

Just heard from a mate in London that fullham r hoping to sign Gary Hooper by Friday for around 6.5m plus add ons, anyone else heard this? Ed have you heard anything about this {Ed007's Note - Not since the start of the month but it would get him the move to the EPL he wants.}

That is too low! He is our top striker and in the top 3 of most goals last year in British football, of all the players we have he should go for none less then 9mill plus sell on and add ons. If carell is still worth 18mill or something after his bad playing then hooper has to be high as well, it is not our fault that we got the right guy and has been lighting it up. We need to hold out for real money with our top players and if 9mill is the max then we need to demand that and stand firm on it cause we have3-5 players that we can get that and don't think we will be that lucky in the future.

Personally I would take it. Hoopers done a great job since arriving but it was clear to see for the last 3 months of last season he wasnt really interested & IMO he has started this season in the same lazy fashion. Give him the move he wants an get someone like russell in who im sure would score around the same amount in the SPL with celtic.

In saying that I cant really see it hapening anyway.

If he goes then jonny russel should be his replacement.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hope not, but hooper is in the CL a big shop window for january transfer window , bang a few goals in the CL and he will be playing for a top 4 epl team

Agree0 Disagree0

Cant c us selling out top striker this late on.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would be sad to see him go but we have a ready made replacement in Watt, or if NL is allowed to spend Russell would be a great addition to the team.
Murphy also looks likely to leave so would hope if both go then we get Russell.
Would still love to see Rhodes come as I think he would score for fun up here but think the price they are looking for is just ridiculous.

That's absolutely correct about the CL by the way! Really looking forward to one or two players having a good show. If Hoops just manages to get a couple of goals it would surely place him up as one of the top young English forwards and by January Fulham would have to double that 6.5m.

Agree0 Disagree0

Although his work-rate has been great, I think his sharpness is missing - possibly because he is looking to leave?
He is our best striker and if he wishes to go - the price must reflect this and we need to replace him with quality, not quantity at the last minute.

Cant believe the number of fans who would be happy to see hooper leave. without his goals last season we might not have won the league as comfortably as we did and his five goals in a match at the end of the season hardly suggests he wasn,t interested, personally i would be most disappointed if he were sold.

Agree0 Disagree0

Tony Watt is NOT a ready made replacement for Gary Hooper. The boy is only 18 for crying out loud. After he has played a full season and scored 20+ goals then yes, we can say we have a replacement

Agree0 Disagree0

I will be very disappointed and quite angry if this happens. We must do all that we can to keep him for the European campaign. Replacing him at this late stage is too risky. Whoever comes in may not have enough time to gel. I really don't see this happening. I'm sure Gary himself fancies a crack at the CL. If he leaves now, there is a huge chance that he will never get that opportunity again.

Agree0 Disagree0

No way Hooper moving before January, why on earth would Celtic sell Hooper with a Euro run on the cards? The only way Gary Hooper would be sold now is Celtic had 2 more strikers lined up and I am talking about proven not potential.....Give it a rest until we see what happens tomorrow night, we all know nothing is going to happen until after the game.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gordon and hutton went for 9 million and failed miserably (injuries did play a part). the statements of pardew last season aswell shows you high highly our game is thought of down south. 6.5 million is as good as i think we would get. the boy has ambition and as long as he wears a celtic top he will struggle to get an england cap which i think you can clearly see he wants

Agree0 Disagree0

What planet are some people on? Hooper will NEVER play for a top 4 epl team and saying he's worth between 9-13m is just nonsense! 20+ goals in the spl is not going to be viewed as a great achievement by any epl club let alone the top 4. Live in the real world - 5-6m tops!

Agree0 Disagree0

For the post above it is easy to pick out 2 dud transfers from Scotland to the premiership but what about Jelavic(still a bit early) Steven Fletcher or even Petrov. They have all done well. Btw Hooper scored more goals than Andy Carol the year Newcastle won the Championship. Fact is the Premier league know they can get players on the cheap up here. We should be holding out for good money. Hooper no less than 9-10 million for me. if we got 6 for Ki who was never even first choice and 10 for Mcgreedy who the fans love in Russia.
Paderbhoy!

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with the above. Hooper is a 5-6 million pound player at best. Amazing how people look at prices down south and come to the conclusion we should be comanding the same! If he was that good the bids would have come in.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would hooper or anyone else what to leave, this could be the only time in their career that they play in champs league(all going well the morra )

Agree0 Disagree0

"If he was that good then the bids would have come in". Sorry, but I was under the impression that we did receive a bid in the region of 7 million from Southampton. If Hooper scores a few in the CL then it goes without saying that his value should go up even more. Agree with the theory that Hooper will never play for a top 4 EPL club though. I don't think he is THAT good. That's why he would be mad to leave right now as it may be the only chance he will get to play in the CL.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jelavic 3.5-5 million, fletcher went for 3 million and petrov was around the 7 mark (i think). they all may do well but their initial transfers where not for all that much. i sat and listened to numerous rangers supporting fans harp on about jelavic for 8, 9 even 10 million. that market doesnt exist up here for players. Ki is a well known young intenrationalist and he went for 5. hooper will go for around the same
