Hi all, I know this sounds like crap, but trust me I'm not one for making stuff up. My best mates Dad is quite high up the Crewe hierarchy(I know it sounds dodgy lol) and whilst trying to find out if Liverpool wanted Powell, my mate told me the only thing he knew was on Leitch-Smith. He said Celtic were front runners in the race to sign him and that Crewe are expecting at least an enquiry from Celtic soon. You have been scouting him for ages apparently, but a lot of clubs from the Prem and Championship have also been taking a look. However it seems Celtic are the most intested and Lennon has made it clear that he wants to sign him. I don't know if he made bits up to sell us the story a bit, but thought I'd pass on what I'd been told, and if he says anything else I will tell you. You heard anything Ed?
JFT96
Smithy {Ed007's Note - Sounds spot on to me Smithy, I have said a couple of times about him, even today. Cheers for the info.}

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Just watched the match great wee player too if we got him! Ed honestly tho do u really think we have any chance of signing Rhodes? I canna see it bud!
Cb67 {Ed007's Note - Yes I think there is a chance. It depends what other teams come in for him, any move will be more to do with his career rather than money (to the player, not Huddersfield). Just like the Gary Hooper situation.}

anybody looking for a good holiday read i can recommend
It's Much More Important Than That : Bill Shankly, The biography. in these days of low sporting integrity its good to look back on the life of shankly. he never wavered in his integrity and was a proud scot. just in passing, his last ever match as boss at liverpool was actually billy mcneils testimonial when he brought his liverpool team to celtic park for a 1-1 draw. i was part of the 70,000 crowd who gave bill a wonderful ovation. he actually did a lap of honour with a celtic scarf held above his head. fantastic man who built a fantastic club. he was just as happy watching celtic or rangers or anybody for that matter. he just loved the game.
great book but they missed out the above.

Hi Ed, any idea if any players such as Scott Dann, Grant Hanley, Cristophe Berra etc have clauses allowing them to leave cheaper after relegation? May be worth looking in to but would still like to see Rogne as 1st choice partner for Chico next season to see if he develops into the quality CB he has shown glimpses of. Personally I would also look to punt Ki(£5m) & Stokes(£3m) and bring in Henriksen, Holt & Rhodes with the money

Mikey Bhoy {Ed007's Note - Scott Dann has a £6 million buy out clause in his contract which I'm sure a few teams will trigger. I am not aware of any clauses in Hanley's or Berra's contracts.}

Believable0 Unbelievable4

Cheers Ed....won't hold out much hope for a bid then lol what you think of Berra or Hanley? {Ed007's Note - I would take Hanley no problem. I seen a fair bit of him when I was keeping an eye on Phil Jones. I am not really convinced with Berra though.}

Who's gonna give us 3 million for stoked man! Behave yourself eh?

Clarence Seedorf out of contract?
would love to see him at celtic, especially for the european games would be great in the dressing room for the younger lads too. and before someone starts going on about his age, yes i do know he is 36 but he got around a fair bit 2nite (socceraid) and yes i know this was against celebrities but still played 90 minutes {Ed007's Note - Seedorf would stroll through games up here. His age is irrelevant, I agree but I still can't see it happening.}

Believable10 Unbelievable6

I have always been a big fan of him, and I agree tht he would be ideal for europe.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would be a graet signing for a season to bring on the young lads in our team, just don't think it would ever happen. maccabhoy

All this talk about hooper leaving is starting to get a bit annoying. He's in talks for a new contract at a club he loves playing for, usually infront of'a huge crowed, where he's winning cups and titles and getting to Play in Europe. But sure he would leave just to get a chance of playing for England in one world cup and then getting chucked out the competition. Give him the pay rise he deserves and he will be more than happy to stay.

Believable5 Unbelievable4

Whilst you obviously have a right to that opinion, just think a little more of Hoopers ambition.
If he seriously believes he can make the England team by playing in the EPL, it is a great deal more than a few caps to a player. It would represent recognition on a much wider stage plus all the commercial benefits that are available to an international player.

would like to see celtic go for huddersfield centre half and captain peter clarke.

Thinking that for a good few seasons is he the same PC that played for everton fc? {Ed007's Note - He never really made the grade at Everton and has been about lower league teams all his career.}

"It turns out that some people were quite keen for stories to get out," Daly says. "It's a cliche in journalism when you talk about brown envelopes arriving at your door, but that was what was happening. There were also people whom I kept anonymous and whom I grew to trust who were helping me, giving me information and documents.....do u think thats fat sal and watty

Ed I read somewhere that because rangers are taking the sfa to court that FIFA could exspell the sfa because clubs are not supposed to go to civil court with the fa

The same thing happen last year with sion and Swiss fa

Ed is this true and if so would that mean Celtic wont be allowed in Europe next season {Ed007's Note - I have no idea. I would need to look into that.}

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Celtic will still be allowed as long as the sfa/spl stick by any sanctions fifa impose.

celtic looking at 2 strikers,,,wesley a brazilian who plays for fc vaslui in romania and jeremy perbet who plays for mons in belgium

Believable7 Unbelievable5

You sure these aren't two boys you've scouted on Football Manager?

Agree0 Disagree0

The boy perbet was mentioned on here the other day. not sure how much truth in that but have never heard the other boy mentioned. i dont think so to both these stikers. i believe we wil pull off a deal for rhodes quite soon. cant see lenny giving this one up easily.

Hey ed long time reader I like to say I'd be gutted of hooper was sold especially if it was because the English were too arrogant to pick a SPL player. I was thinking would anyone be sad to see stokes be sold? I think if we could get 3 million for him we should sell him thoughts?

Kevbhoy87 {Ed007's Note - Welcome to the site Kev.}

Believable4 Unbelievable6

In Stokes' defence I think that if he played as often as Hooper he would have scored as many goals or even out-scored him. There were loads of games this season when Hooper was anonymous and it was ony the 5 in the last game that made it look like there was a gulf between the 2. Also, if you look at a compilation of both players goals you will see Stokes set up far more as well. I'm not saying he's Larsson, but he's not given the same chances as Hooper

Agree0 Disagree0

I would be gutted if stokes left. he has formed a fantastic partnership with hooper and we need the both of them to stay. stokesy hit 20 odd goals last season...we dont want to ship him out in for someone who might not do as well. just look at fortune, henri camara, brattbakk. keep stokes at all costs.

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't see the why Lenny would not want a proven goal scorer who's set up a great partnership with his leading scorer.

If Hooper goes then lenny may look into selling Stokes if he has 2 CF lined up who don't suit Stokes style.

Keep Hooper and Stokes.

hooper now moaning its hard to get noticed for england playing in scotland (which is true) he will sign for someone in the premiership i think ! i said on here first in january that southampton had put in there bids thats who my moneys on on signing him

Wilsybhoy {Ed007's Note - Southampton, Reading and Fulham are looking towards Jay Rodriguez as he is cheaper than Hooper. If Fulham get Rodriguez expect Southampton and Reading to go for Hooper. His agent was in England last week talking to clubs.}

Believable5 Unbelievable4

Dont know your age ed but am an auldie dont think hoopers all that, we can get better. {Ed007's Note - I am a sprightly(??) 38 mate.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Why don't Celtic buy Rodriguez? {Ed007's Note - Rodriguez has been watched by CFC. Wigan have been trying to charm him all season long but Martinez possible move to LFC has put that on ice, as is AVs interest since McLeish was sacked. If you are watching the play off match keep a close eye on AJ Leitch-Smith. NL would have been at the game today even if he wasn't working as a pundit.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Saw the boy leitch-smith in the semi and thought he looked a player with a lot of potential, are we gonna sign him ed?

Green surfer {Ed007's Note - There are other teams interested in signing him but there has been interest in him from CFC for a while. If it wasn't for Powell, Leitch-Smith would be the player everyone would be talking about.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Saints could go for Hooper and Rodriguez!
Not saying they are greedy but it may be that Adkins sees Lee as an impact sub and/or coming in off the flanks.
Certainly both Rodriguez and Hooper the right age bracket for Saints and going for both could persuade each of them that Saints are serious about progression.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi ed think your right about AJ Leitch smith watching NL in the studio and he has just said AJ was excellent today so on todays performance i would say the boy has impressed NL.MACCA

Do agree with previous post Ed, and this is no reflection on the superb job u do on this site. I would love to read rumours on our club and the comings and goings as we head to our champions league games. Rangers situation is massive but I think we all now need to keep our eyes on the 'champions league' ball ;-) and our own club now..
Let them worry about the mess they've made for themselves..

Hi ed, just hoping you could clear something up for me,was souness the manager of Newcastle when they bought boumsong?and how much did the shame pay for him when transferred to asbestos castle?
Hoodbhoy {Ed007's Note - Rangers signed Boumsong under freedom of contract in the summer of 2004. Souness took him to Newcastle in January 2005 for £8 million. Read up on the Stevens Report/Inquiry from 2007}

hi ed think i read somewhere on this site tht celtic had been linked or were looking at the boy smithies from huddersfield. do u not think that after his performance in play off final against sheff utd his value might just have increased? {Ed007's Note - He only has one year left on his contract. If it does have any effect on it I can't see it being too much of a difference.}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Good keeper, gonna get better, get him and rhodes signed up asap

USA v Scotland 5 v 1! USA are 19 places above Scotland in the rankings and they ran through Scotland. Embarrassing display and result, was it the heat, the flight or just we are not good enough and in developing the players. 44,000 turned up for the match pretty good attendance.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

I dont know why those matches get played. scotland were pretty depleted and probably not in the best frame of mind at the end of the season. but usa have been pretty good for a while now and are good to watch, and dont seem to cheat.

If the rumours are true green meeting Lawell to discuss new co and celtics vote. Seriously I don't think I could take it if rangers aren't heavily punished by the spl and their tainted titles stripped. It will pour salt in the wounds if we back rangers at present knowing about their financial doping and blatant disregard for rules. I think we the Celtic family should nominate a figure head to speak on our behalf. Our voice needs to be heard and enforced. Can you imagine rangers getting away with this whole situation and double contracts? Knowing that when we struggled and tried so valiantly in 1997 with tommy burns to win the league they cheated to the title. I'm sorry, but if the board don't stand up for what's right, for us the fans and for dedicated honest people
Like tommy burns, then I won't be back in the stadium.

Please can you post this ed. thank you

Believable20 Unbelievable3

I nominate Wee Pat,that should confuse them.

Jungle Bhoy.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with the op in principal but the problem is that what you deem to be a suitable punishment and what i or any other celtic fan deem suitable might differ, let me say right now i would like to see ibrokes closed , the whole rotten mess eradicated from the face of the earth, but if this doesnt happen and they get let off what i consider to be lightly, it wouldnt stop me supporting MY club, so lets remain the CELTIC FAMILY, and like any other family, agree to disagree, we are all differant, diverse, but lets stay united and stand behind CFC..............

Agree0 Disagree0

The time is here for the destruction of this cheating cabal. its difficult to see how mr. lawwell can support rangers in this. there may be a difficult period of readjustment ( i think a few months) but in the end there would be no point in a football association which allows this to happen. everyone forgets just how much money rangers take out of the game, illegally gained prize money etc. there are now some interesting pieces being written about all of this and the general direction is towards the truth. its better for scottish football to stand proud and be rid of this lot. how shameful would it be for rangers to represent scotland in europe now ? it just cant happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, there are a number of posters on this site who talk sense but a number who are also as blinkered to the truth as some Rangers fans. The last post was not meant to be taken as a slur on the good name of Tommy Burns but merely to highlight that the Celtic side at that time wasn't struggling as it was filled with quality players (Di Canio in particular). I've always said we should be allowed to start again in SFL Division 3 but, for some reason, we won't be allowed to by other clubs and we all know why............... {Ed007's Note - I have no idea what you mean, sorry......}

Agree0 Disagree0

I want to say first that, as Hibs have said, integrity comes before cash. I also agree with the poster that Rangers must be punished and that Celtic ought not to back them getting off lightly. That said, I think we are in danger of losing sight of the difficulites our own board face. First off, there have been calls for Celtic to make their stance public. Lets be fair, anything Celtic say will be all over the front pages at a time as sensitive as this and whilst we might all enjoy a chuckle, is it really helpful to have front pages of the red tops screaming "Celts kill gers" or something similar when clearly we are as yet unsure how this will pan out. Ssecondly, having accused (rightly) the Rangers fans of being delusional, lets not add some delusions of our own. We will suffer from boredom if they disappear which, whilst not a reason on its own to abandon the rules, should lead us to tread cautiously. The club will also suffer financially and will only find attracting players more difficult. Finally, why are so many set on punishng Celtic right now. We've been the biggest victim of Rangers' crime. Now is our chance to have some fun. The only people who can stop that are Celtic fans themselves by not backing the club. I'd urge everyone to renew/or buy a ST. I dont approve of the attempted blackmail by the GB and others. They don't run the club and I think their move was a touch self indulgent. We need to trust our board to do right by Celtic. As someone else says, like any other family we will need to agree to disagree on this one but whatever you think, get behind Celtic!

Agree0 Disagree0

Is there any proof that Rangers cheated during TB's stewardship? If the EBT's were used as billy Dodds states "as payment for the remainder of his contract when he left" is this classed as a dual contract?

Agree0 Disagree0

As a lifetime rangers fan I had the great pleasure to talk to Tommy on the phone one day, a gentleman who I thanked for lighting up our league with playing football the way it should be played,Rangers won the league yes, better team alas no ,,might well of had the best goalie at that time though, it's strange how certain people touch you in your life,I knew Tommy was a good one b4 the phone call but it just underlined his class

Agree0 Disagree0

As a celtic fan i would like nothing more than rangers to be no more,Peter Lawell is in a no win situation,if he he vote's with rangers he bring's down the wrath of certain celtic supporter's.What i would say to these supporter's be careful what you wish for,if there is no rangers what happen's when the rest of the s.p.l. chairmen decide to change the rule's.What happen's to the voting strengh of celtic.Would the johnston's thompsons petries and others vote to share the gate's home and away,as i say fellow tims be careful.
